How are trap numbers decided?

Do the trainers request them for their dogs?  eg does he say "my runner is a railer, so T 1 or 2 please?"

or is it a random draw?

p.s I quite fancy her for this race, looks set up well for her. (famous last words)

race looks made for cassie going by those limited stats, should open as favourite I'd guess. hopefully the 2 dog is slow out of the traps

hopefully the card will be on the racing post site at some point today, thats a more accurate guide as will show recent trials for the dogs.

all the dogs in the race are young thus all unexposed and any of them may have all sorts of improvement in their locker.

i actually think its a tougher race than last week, there are a couple of downgraded dogs in the race and i expect trap 5 will open favourite though obv cassie will be fav come the off lol.

that said no excuses for cassie, she has her draw and mick also has the 2 dog and is pretty confident casssie will lead that to the bend.

a trainer can request his dog to be seeded rails, middle or wide but this has to be agreed by the racing manager at the track the dog runs at.

the draw is only random in an "open" race but still the seeding of railsm middle or wide are adhered to.
in "graded" races it is the job of the racing manager to construct thee race. he also wants to construct a trouble free race as possible so will fit dogs into traps taking into account their style of running.

predominantly railers are in t1 and t2, middle runners t3 and t4 with wides in t5 or t6.  obviously if a race has more than 2 types of runner then it overspills into the adjacent traps. for example u may have a race made up of 3 railers in traps 1,2 and 3 and 3 wides in 4,5 and 6

Seen the form is up on racing post website now.

She has a chance IMO. The two dog has been in 3 and 4 and generally looks like a middle seed. Last time in trials in the 2 box he moved off and has made a habit of it before by the looks. Hopefully he can pace up and cause some havoc on the outside and give Cassie a clear run on the rails. Then she can pick any of em up and carry them to the line Smiley
