Wow what a film. Some of the scenes from Lake Tahoe made me think back to the time I was working in Harveys and Caesars Casino in Tahoe. (In the photo studio in each hotel not on the gaming floor unfortunately). That was the first time I watched people playing cards and I remember thinking one day I want to learn to play and be good enough to play in tournaments around the world. 7 card stud was the game being dished up from memory and I remember one of the camera 'girls' (as they were known) had a husband who played cash games professionally. This was back in 1989-90 for anyone wondering.

I wangled a job on a J1 visa as I had gone to teach tennis at Camp America near Santa Cruz and then stayed on working at Heavenly Valley during the day and at the 2 photo rooms at the casino's on alternate nights. The skiing at Heavenly valley was an awesome experience and can remember having a BBQ in a blizzard on top of the Sierra Nevada ranges overlooking Lake Tahoe.

One of the weirdest memories was helping put out one of the ladies hair which had caught fire when it brushed against a candle and had triggered a reaction with her hairspray. Lucklily she saved most of it due to the quick reaction of the team in the lab.

This film wont to be everyones taste but some of the scenes I can see getting to cult status. Dont want to spoil the story except to say it is extremely violent and has some  close your eyes and grimace moments but the story in itself has twists and turns and is good to see Lake Tahoe as well as Vegas.

Anyone played at Lake Tahoe in the past year would be interested to hear what it is like these days.

8.5/10, ahead of most of its genre, a big surprise. A few very clever touches and some brilliant characters.

Yes. You're unlikely to find me recommending them though, are you?

I would cheat on my corsican girlfriend for this woman:

A good film for me has to have the following ingredients:

random numbers that add up to 23

pale scary looking kids that only whisper

the title has to have "VS" in it, it has to be something vs something else or you know it's not gonna be any good

It has to have been a cartoon or American 70s tv show before

it has to be personal

It has to star jim belushi, is he still around?

if not no real life actors, only cgi

it has to be set out in the desert with some mutants

And at the end the dead guys hand has to come out of the ground in case they take enough money at the cinema to make a sequel

who is that girl, alecia keys?

That girl is Alicia Keys. Ok she's not Alizee, but she is hot, especially in this film. Watch it. You'd like it.

shes alright, try and get her involved in something with you and your corsican bird but i dont think shes worth flat out cheating on her with, she seems like the type of bird that would just burst into song every 5 mins and you do not need that, especially this week with the tote ebor on the t.v you know, your trying to have a study, sort out the big handicapp and she starts balling in your ear." i keep falling in and out of love with you"..............."SHUT UP", i'm trying to study!!!! i'd hit her with the racing post seriously, what is the film shes in?

L.A confidential was good
