At 10 x BB, I still have a RR in me.
I LOL'd
Lol all you like - I'll always play that way. 10 x BB is too soon - for me. Plenty of play left yet. I won't change my view on this, it's just how I play. Many a Tourney has been thrown away by shoving too soon - just as many as by leaving it too long. It' a balance thing, but that's how I play.
I'm not lol'ing at 10bb being too soon.
I am laughing at you having a r/r left in you at 10bb's!! I mean, how often does a numbnut makes it 3x and folds to your near 10x shove?
I agree that you don't have to shove at 10x and have found myself grinding off 6/7 many a time.
Surprisingly often. At Luton recently, in exactly that spot, a guy Passed Queens to me! But if he's a serial nicker, & I re-shove, the Pass is routine. It's the whole basis of my late-stage game. These guys are my food-chain.

Today's Word of the Day, I've just re-discovered it.
Murmuration.
As in, a murmuration of Starlings.
GREAT word.

Soon, average is 11k, & I have 30k. I'm doooomed.
Table moves, & I get a shocker, especially
Paul
Jackson
, who outplayed everyone a treat. He has some game. My earlier bravado has been knocked out of me, I can't get anything through, so I go into temporary sleep-mode, until things settle.
Another Table-move - this one was even worse. These guys are all nuts, it's Table Maniac. I hibernate, & feel a complete idiot, as I can't handle the way these guys are playing. I'm back in midfield now.
Example - John Law - what a player he is! - makes it 2.5k.
Ben
Callinan
makes it 18k (18,000) All-in. Wow. But typical of the Table. After serious dwellage, John calls. With Q-T. And straights it. Just wow. Ben had 6-6.
Then slow-played A-Q got done by T-5, A-Q man goes apeshit, "you effing donkey" da de da. The Table was just too wild for me, & I'm totally demoralised & outgunned by them all.
I end the day with 22,500, with Blinds at 1,500 3,000. Bugger, another chance wasted. I just can't go the pace with these big boys, that's all there is to it.
Johns different gravy, dont try to push him of a hand, it aint happenin!
He's a Poker Legend, & came so close to a WSOP Bracelet a few years back.
In this hand, he worked out that Ben had to have a small pair, & so he was racing. Amazing balls to go with his read. I'm not sure the play is right - certainly it's not for me - but John has forgotten more about poker than I'll ever know.
Top man, & a perfect Gent at the Table.
Yeah he finished second...took an absolute stinker of a beat heads up.

I well recall it - it was well ugly. A terrific player.

congrats tony.
fwiw ive played with john law on a few occasions and he has to be the biggest station in the uk. He just limp/calls pre and i had him down as the mark at the table.
funny how players are rated differently by different people.
Wheres the next stop on the tikay poker express?

I find it hard to diss someone with such a great record - he murdered the North East games for years.
I do feel, however, that he's developed a tendancy to refuse to let go once he's put any chips in the middle.
The Tikay Poker Express next stop? More a grindingly slow-train, methinks. No idea where or when, the work Diary is a bit crammed right now, I'm pleased to say, with some wonderful & very exciting (for me) work in prospect, but I plan to stick to the £100 to £500 range where & when time permits. I play too scared at higher levels, & have always come out ahead in the up to £500 level. And I need to find some private time, some non-poker time, for some other, err, "adventures" & stuff that are bubbling away in my mind, & will not be there if I don't do them soon.

That's a great point - you are so right.
Look at the differing views on, say, Ram, or Lord Wernick. Nobody has middle-ground on these things - they are either great, or rank.
Better examples may be, say, Pete Linton - there are wildly varying opinions of his play, or further South, some think Luton's Seb can play.
It's all subjective.

Sort of - but I enjoy work as much as I enjoy poker.
Poker will always be there, but, to be honest, my time in TV must be severely limited now, old farts don't make great TV, so I'm taking it while I can.
Anyways, the Diary is a bit full right now, & the winnings won't burn a hole in my poket. If time permits, I may play a few Side Events at The Vic's big Fessie. I've never Cashed at The Vic - never, in anything. I've played all over the World, & Cashed at every Venue I've played in, from Russia to America, & right across Europe. But never at The Vic. Too tough for me, them Vic boys.
