Was in the Betfair Bar last night and some of your former work colleagues were there, Kara Scott, Michelle Orpe and Matt Broughton.
Matt Broughton seemed a really nice bloke but the other two, well, you lucky sod!

Was Broughton the guy who was doing the live feed from the EPO jobbie?

He was one of them, yes, others included Barny Boatman, & Grub Smith.
They all got slated for their commentary, but it's not that easy a gig, & the "booth" conditions were dreadful. Under the circimumstances, & though I have no flag to fly for either, I thought the commentary of Barny & Matt was very good - it was informative, entertaining, & humorous. IMO, of course.

wat? who slated them?
I watched quite a bit of the EPO feed and thought it was great, the commentary made me chuckle quite alot. I'd rather hear commentary like that with hole cards down than the usual he's got the best hand he shouldn't fold here malarky

So Phil makes his grand entrance to the WSOPE ME dressed up as Caesar riding in his chariot and accompanied by a bevy of scantily clad servant-girls.
Unfortunately the chariot could not get to the casino entrance due to the bollards prohibiting vehicular access so our hero has to make his way on foot still acompanied by his bevy of scantily clad maidens but the casino manager would not allow said scantily clad maidens to enter the casino as apparently they had no ID with them; what a spoilsport!
I do hope all of these hiccups did not put our Phil into brat-mode.

You clearly failed to read the blonde Live Update.
They got heartily flamed for giving bad commentary, when the reality is, ALL poker decisions are subjective, & affected by table dynamics & a dozen other things. Poker decisions are easy when there is not £50,000 riding on a single play. Those pressures DO affect people, & make the decisions harder.

I just can't be doing with all that "theatrical entrance" nonsense Ralph, & I don't think it does Poker any food, either.
I don't really blame Hellmuth for indulging in it though. He's easy to mock, but really, he's just a guy, & I don't want to be a Hellmuth-hater. There are many, far closer to home, who deserve my wrath, the nippers & scammers for a start, some of whom are on blonde every day, larging it up.
I think I should not Post too much today. I've slept well for the first time in 2 weeks, & have one of those moods on me where I feel a desire to unburden myself of all sorts of things which, really, are probably best left where they are.

I don't dislike Phil either, I find him fairly amusing most of the time.
It's just far more amusing to me when these grand entrances go wrong, especially if it winds up the grand entrancer
And go for it Tony, you know you want to, unburden away

The apathy with which cheaters are treated is what bothers me most of all, the Hellmuth shennanigans I can deal with, but constantly we see people who are known for being scumbags and....nothing, nothing happens. People accept it when really they shouldn't and poker sites do nothing because seemingly they just want to make money and not be drawn into a fiasco, but at the end of the day keeping poker clean (or at least attempting to) will make more money for everyone in the long term.
Ansky wrote an awesomely eloquent post about this on 2+2 a year or two ago about this and everyone said it was brilliant and should be implemented, then they went back to playing poker.

It's not just apathy, some of them are actually revered on here, lionised even.
It's like there is a current fashion for anti-heroes. I can't be doing with it, I don't want to talk, listen to, or interact with these low-lifes. And I don't.

who are all these nippers and grimmers? nobody ever says. it has always surprised me that hardly anyone uses poker forums to embarrass them into paying and prevent them from grimming other people. "lulz he's such a degen, i dunno poker eh..."
what did you think of hellmuth's comments about FT, stars and UB setting up a rival to the WSOP now they have an online presence? i think he's concerned that they may ban logo's for other sites. A WSOP without any of their pro's or online qualifiers would be pretty tiny presumably

Don't be mischievious! Let buyer beware.
I never heard Mr H's comments, so can't answer that.
But it would seem logical. Hence Harrah's - or HIE to be correct - recent purchase of 888 - should be taken seriously. They now have a major Online presence & platform, & you can bet they will optimise it for Harrah's WSOP purposes. Why else set up HIE, or buy 888?
I actually lost a bob or two when HIE purchased 888, as I'd made a few sly bets at outrageous prices that the hook-up would be Harrah's & 'Stars. Yes, yes, I know all the reasons that makes that sound ludicrous. But I can also see THE most beautiful synergies, & with a little political lobbying & clout, the neatest answer in neatville to so many of the issues currently exrcising the minds of both parties. The best deals are usually the most unlikely.
