The Bellagio enforces the 'show one show all (cards)' rule, which I also agree is stupid and has probably arisen from a misinterpretation of the intention of the 'show one show all (persons)' rule.
The Venetian does not use this rule because aqccording to their supervisor 'its a stupid rule.'
There also do seem to be some rules about string betting in Vegas. Certainly at the Venetian and possibly at many other places as well -
going back for more chips after the initial bunch have been cut out certainly constitutes a string bet
. In some places they even have an 'over the line' interpretation, as is often found in the UK/Europe.
On another point, the tipping of dealers - I have nothing against dealers being rewarded by tips, but at what point is there an unfair advantage afforded to those players who tip well? I heard a few unsavoury stories while in Vegas of biased decisions in favour of players who tip well and at the expense of those who dont. The integrity of the game has to be protected and tipping is one of the things that threatens this integrity.
Well yes, that IS a string bet, a proper grown up string bet. My point was that in the UK it is taken to the extreme by those who, quite honestly, don't know any better. Accidental string bettors should be given more rope. Boom-tish-boom?

They also have a terrific rule in many Vegas Cardrooms in that if you show one card (after the pot is won) you have to show both, which stops the A-bit merchants smirkily flashing their Ace like big boys.
Have to disagree, this is a stupid and needless rule and leads usually to no one showing anything. This "anti needle" rule is in place to stop people rubbing others down by showing one card and suggesting a bluff. My god, if you can't cope with someone showing you a bluff you're in the wrong game... There are many such rules that I found a pain, including some mind boggling ones at the Bellagio that I've written about before, including not being able to talk at all during a hand.
I have no problem with folks showing bluffs or assumed bluffs, I just prefer to see both cards or neither.

Well done Tikay. Great reading your diary since I got back from Vegas. Just got to look back through it now to see if you mentioned me lasting longer in the Planet Hollywood tournie.
See you on the beach,
Vic from Miami
Sigh.......just because your my Sky Boss don't mean I have to kow-tow, does it? Then again......
It's true though, Compo, Miami Vic & myself had a $20 Last Longer. Compo crashed & burned early, & I sacrificed my stack to keep the Boss happy. With the talent for TV work which I possess (or don't), I need to do something to keep him sweet. When all's said & done, Nice Mr Vic is effectively paying for my "work" here in Vegas.
Miami Vic is the new Skalie. That should keep me in work for another month, two at a push.

Up at 9 today so we could get across to Interview Mr Pollack this morning in his rather grand office at Caesars Palace.
The 38th WSOP finished the day before yesterday, now it's all Harrahs hands on deck for the WSOP-E in September. He spoke well, he's a proper pro, & the interview will be on next week's Poker Week. It is, I think, a decent interview.
We arrived bang on time, 1 cameraman, 1 Producer, & me, only to realise we'd left the tapes back at Planet Hollywood, oops....
Wrapped up by 1.30, so time to play the $220 at Caesars Palace, more of which later.
Planned to have a quiet night in tonight, I'm pretty tired, & fly home Friday, but Rob Garfield just called my room, "what we doing tonight?". So we are off to The Venetian for their 8pm jobbie. Compo goes & now Rob's leading me astray, sigh, I'm so weak.
Am thinking of trying to Upgrade my seat for the flight home on Wooly Jumper's 747. Anyone know what it'd cost to Upgrade from Economy to the next level?

Played the $220 at Caesars at Noon today, it's a lovely comp, they have upped the starting stack to 7,500, & it's a 40 minute clock, with antes kicking in at Level 3, 100-200.
Patrick Murray was there, as was John Hewston, the latter not really wanting to play it, & deliberately dumping his stack off so he could go play the Venetian Deep-Stack at Midday, as an Alternate.
I had extraordinary good luck early doors, (blinds 25-50), there was an early Pos R to 200, 6 callers, I am obliged to call on the BB with
.
How much did I enjoy THIS flop?
.........
Milked that pretty well - I mean, that's not hard, now is it?
Then I R with
& get called by what turned out to be
We see a flop of
, the rest speaks for itself.
Next up, Blinds 200-400 (50 ante) it's Passed round to the Blinds, the SB makes up, I R to 1,000 with
, he calls me, uh-oh. Flop is a mouth-watering
- I experienced slight leakage here - and more leakage occurs when he bets 5,000! I dwell, Carloesque, then call, the turn is a blank, he moves in for another 9,000! Surely he'd not bet that way with 6-6 in the hole? I make the easy call, he shows 6-4! 32,000, & what Scotty Nguyen calls a dancing stack.
Sadly, it's tough to dance in clogs, & I dribbled down to 12k, with Blinds at 600-1,200, then I get AK all wrong. Nice Man makes it 3k, I have the Big Slick, & move in for 12k, he dwells, suggested we were probably racing, & calls with
. I hit 2 of my 6 outs on the flop, he hits 1 of his two on the Turn, & it's all over baby. Bad play by me, as it turned out, if I just call his pre-flop elevation, I can get him off it on the flop, though with top two, I my have tried to get tricky, & lost anyway. I just prefer to push in this spot, & on this occasion it as the wrong play I think.
I can't complain, considering the luck I've enjoyed these last few weeks.

Thank you Mr Totalise Sir.
Don't be too nice though, you may regret it, I've really enjoyed doing this Diary, & I may even continue when I get home. I just enjoy the writing part, which is far more enjoyable than the reading part I imagine.
I just had an e-Mal fom Jen, she is with snoops, & their flight home was diverted due to a severe electrical storm, & they are holed up in Fargo or somesuch, delayed 24 hours, poor things.

In the Caesars jobbie today I met the dumbest, daftest guy it's been my privelege to sit with, & I've even sat with Compo, Kinboshi & Ironside.
45-ish, Baseball cap on backwards (always a clue), this guy knew every players hands,& dispensed his wise advice freely to one & all.
"I knew you had Aces" says Oh Wise One, as he calls all-in pre with Jacks. And hit his set.
Then we got political. 9/11 was a political ploy by Bush, the US Army did it, to give him an excuse to bash-up Iraq. I mean, he was serious.
Then he decided that Mexico should be annexed & become an American State. "They scrounge off us, steal our jobs, rape our women, & the dumbasses are fit for nothing except slavery & shining shoes". At which the lovely lad to his right Re-Popped him, showed a complete bluff, then said "but we can whip your butts at Poker" to a round of applause from the entire table.
Prize Tit Of The Week Award goes to Mr Wise Guy.
Oops gotta dash, due at The Venetian in 15 minutes.

did you say hello to patrick or did you snub him again like you highrollers always do? and I think most blondes would like to see your diary continue, any diary that doesn't include "donk" "they are so bad" "id make so much money if they didn't always suck out on me" is well worth reading.

The normal flight rate for Upper Class is around $6,475 Tikay for departing to London today, not sure how much an upgrade would be from your original flight itinerary.

I recall Virgin asked for me for $600-$700 when checking in to move up to the next level (premium economy). This was a couple of years ago though.

I don't think premium economy is acually that good TBH, you get a bit more space but not much more, not worth the money. If you can afford the extra for business class that would be more worthwhile but it will probably cost £500 plus.

I wanted to upgrade my flight home but I was scuppered by the flight being literally full - every seat in every class of the plane was sold (and in a few cases oversold) - so it might not make a difference how much it costs.

I'm afraid i think i can beat you tikay for meeting the dumbest american
sitting in the venetian comp we were discussing "Eskimo Clark" and his recent stroke during the world series. We were talking about the fact Harrahs refused his entry the following day
Dumb american states they should let him play because as a race Eskimos are healthy people and you dont hear about people from Eskimoland having strokes or heartattacks
He was in complete disbelief when i told him there is no such place as eskimoland he didnt believe me as im English
god bless america
