What addictions have I conquered?
Working 24/7

Pardon?

Well, when I say "conquered"......

I was not at work until after 10am today. That's a start, surely? A late start, in fact. And I took 4 hours off on Sunday.

I read a book on holiday last week called the 4 hour week and it is in the middle of transforming my life.

It basically questions the nonesense of working from 9-5 each day - which i have always thought was bonkers - even as a child. I have finally found someone who agrees with me and has made a success of breaking away. Dont get me wrong - i have always worked hard - often too hard - but for all the wrong reasons.

Im hoping to be living a different life in 12 months time  dont river me

9-5?That's not work! That's "popping in to the office". You'll be telling me they take dinner-breaks next.

I'm doing a Show tonight with the Guest one of THE great footballers of my era.

He played in the greatest Cup-Final ever (imo), & spent just over a season at Griffin Park in the twilight of his career.

An easy spot for Tighty. Colch-Kev has no chance though.

Serious answers only please. MUCH more famous, MUCH more successful. Might be taller, too. Played for a proper team.

Funny story about tonight's guest.

A friend of mine is a Goalkeeping coach, former professional goalkeeper and as a 17 year old lad he was playing in the reserves for Luton.

Up against him was the guest in his early 40s playing in the reserves in an emergency in the early part of his only managerial role at Aldershot

Aldershot get a corner and Guest is on the Keeper, in front of him. He takes a step back and says to the inexperienced 17 year old "Christ look at the tits on that" pointing at the crowd

Keeper looks across and Guest elbows him in the knackers. Keeper doubles over, ball flies straight into the back of the net from the corner

Just checked his wiki page

Between 1 April 2009 & April 1 2010 Ron Harris is attempting to set a new world record in signing the most autographs within a twelve month period. This is being done via a UK wide tour and via the sale of signed photos online

Go on then Pops ... I will take one off his hands ... signed photo please ... I will give it pride of place alongside my Sportsman dinner programme signed by both Norman Hunter and Tommy Smith Smiley

Yup, Chopper Harris.

I'll try & organise a signed 'photo for KevDonk.

I just had a wonderful half-hour with him, grilled him about all sorts.

The height of his earnings was in 1980, just before he left Chelsea - £295  week. (£15k per year). He said that was 4 times the national average wage at the time. Times have changed.

He'll be on from 8pm until Midnight on 865, & from 10pm until Midnight on the newly-renamed Sky Sports4, previously known as Sky Sports Extra.

This is genius.
Not quite as genius but a similar story. When I used to play alot of football nothing special semi-pro sort of thing (£60 and a pie a game). There used to be an infamous player in our league that would always elbow at least 3 players in the face per match and never get caught, one time he made my mates nose bleed, just a 18 year old lad.
Obv the guy was a bully but it worked because everyone used to be scared of him and back off. Their were of course the odd few nutters in our team he wouldn't go near a big Irish guy called Dennis who would of snapped him in half had he caught him, think this guy was top goal scorer in the league for five years up untill last season. Amazing what the referees let slide and how he scored so many goals with a disciplinary record almost untarnished.

I'm not entirely sure where "addiction" & "dependency" differ, but I don't really care for either.

I seem to be totally addicted to or dependent upon.....

"Motorway" Coffee. (Costa, ).I reak out in a sweat if I don't have one every 2 hours. From my Hotel to the Coffee Garage is 200 yards, & every yard is painful. I need coffee.

I am slowly turning into Tikay ..... I know exactly what Costa Service stations I will stopping off at.

Toddington is still the best, Costa, Tuna Melt and Krispy Kremes and toilet all in the petrol station bit  thumbs up

This is just a description of a journey through your digestive tract..

cannot go costa coffee at all - i like the flavour ok - ITS JUST TOO DAMN HOT.

I honestly dont get the fascination with overly hot drinks. In the health and safety obsessed world we live in there are warnings about hot water everywhere - sinks have signs about them saying 'caution hot water' my local gym has a sign above the jacuzzi saying 'warning - this water is hot'. Everywhere we are being warned about the dangers of hot water, and yet here is a company selling a liquid hotter than the fires of hell designed for the sole purpose of putting it in our mouths.

i may have told this story before, but on one occasion driving home from DTD i stopped on the M1 at wetherby services and bought an extra large americano, as i was feeling a bit drowsy. How hot was it ? well, i made it all the way up the m1 across the a66 and was passing penrith before it was actually cool enough to drink.

Alas this is true - but you just ask them to not make it not too hot - simples

Forgot to do this a couple of weeks ago and yer right, the damn coffee was still hot by the time I got to Wrexham.

Tikay, check out BBC2 at 6.30 looks right down your rail

What is it Jim?

Great British Railway Journeys, should be able to catch it later on bbciplayer if you miss it

I watched this whole series and I actually found it informative and amusing as well as being well-presented.

But for some reason I can't quite erase the squiggle that is next to Michael Portillo's name in my mind's eye.

Tom has tilted me hard today, asking about frigging Facebook. The Facebook founders should all be shot.
