Hello Tikay

What comps are you thinking of playing in Vegas?.

Regards.

M

Hi Regards,

I have no plans to play anything, I'm afraid, it's a working trip, unless we find ourselves with a few spare days due to early exits, which I hope is not the case. I may squeeze the odd 1 dayer in at Ceasars if time permits, but I can't see any time for 2 dayers, as we don't have any 2 day gaps in the work schedule.

One of these years I'll get to play a proper deepstack fessie out there, which would be my Vegas poker dream. We shall see, maybe, maybe not. It's on the Bucket List.

But I'll catch up with you out there, & try to Rail you in the ME. I'll be based in the Media Centre if you need me for owt.

Regards Regards

T

Hi Tikay

I'd love to rail you like 2005. My Birthday 11th July.

I'll hook up with you in Vegas. I need to check my diary though.

Regards

M

I think getting more chips for arriving early is fine, but only if the tourney starts on time.

This I like, but except at DTD, it ain't gonna happen!

I love Luton for the players, a terrific bunch, & the staff are grand too. But start tourneys on time, it ain't gonna happen, & I just go with the flow now.

We get back from the Break, & they won't start the Tourney until EVERY player is in his/her seat. Which is Customer Care gone bonkers.

on the contrary - i've lost count of the number of times I've seen 3 minutes left of break on clock, nip in to the loo, and then come back out to find I've missed a hand!

I also think the comments about never starting on time are a bit unfair.  That certainly may have been the case a while back, but they've been pretty good over the last year or so imo - the late starts recently have been pretty much forced due to lack of runners turning up on time.  The proposed changes for July have, I believe, come about directly as a result of suggestions on the Luton thread here, so well done to them for taking ideas on board.

I should make clear I have not been paid by the G for this post Smiley

I think that logic is seriously flawed though, Claire. It's a self-fulfilling thingie, allow Tournies to start late, & players will turn up late!

but I dispute that they have been routinely late in starting tournaments. Maybe I just don't pay enough attention to the time when shuffle up and deal is announced, but, like I said, I'd thought they'd been pretty prompt in recent months for the most part.  I'm almost certain that's not the reason people show up late though - it's more likely that if they know there is an hour for alternates, they expect to be guaranteed a seat if they turn up within an hour of the advertised start time.

I re-dispute your dispute.

It was 25 minutes late starting on Sunday. Because there were only 15 runners. The rest arrived late, because they knew it would start late. And so it goes on.

Anyway, I gotta go win my own Tourney now, 15 left, & I'm HUGE - over 11 x BB.

Amongst today's plethora of e-Mails, including junk, business, blatch-related stuff, personal, police, & God knows what else, was one from The Vic.

They announced The London Poker Championships, in July, which is a sort of Mini Fessie.

Also included was their new monthly schedule, which runs from the easy to remember dates of July 19th to August 21st. It's pretty good, too, though note my enboldenment. I struggle to understand a Guarantee that only applies if enough players turn up.

The Vic's new regular tournament schedule starts on July 19th and runs until August 21st. It includes a new monthly £300 NL Hold'em tournament on the first Thursday of the month and a new £100 NL Hold'em 1 Rebuy or Add on tournament for Tuesday. All tournaments will have guaranteed prize pools*The Schedule

Mondays - 7.30pm - £50 NLH Rebuy - £4,000 guaranteed
Tuesdays - 7.30pm - £100 NLH 1 Rebuy/Add On - £7,500 guaranteed
Wednesdays - 7.30pm - £80 NLH Rebuy - £10,000 guaranteed
Thursdays - 7.30pm - £100 NLH Freezeout - £5,000 guaranteed
except on Thu 5th August when it will be a £300 NLH Freezeout with a £15,000 guarantee
Fridays - 7.30pm - £30 NLH Freezeout - £1,500 guarantee
Saturdays - 7.30pm - £50 NLH Freezeout - £2,000 guarantee
Sundays - 4.00pm - £30 NLH Freezeout - £1,000 guarantee
Sundays - 7.00pm - £100 NLH Freezeout - £4,000 guarantee

*Please note that all guarantees only apply with a minimum number of players. Details of minimums are listed on the new tournament brochure. To view this, please click on the following link:

The Mini-Fessie is pretty neat, though, & may well be the getting-out-stakes for those returning from Vegas empty-handed. Nice initiative, well done them.

The festival starts with the GUKPT Club Championship event at 2pm on Saturday 10th July. This one-day tournament is a £200 NL Hold'em freezeout, which carries ranking points and a seat into the GUKPT £150,000 Champion of Champions tournament to the winner.

The festival concludes with a £300 NL Hold'em Main Event on Saturday 17th/Sunday 18th. There will be two flights for this event, both on Saturday 17th. The first flight starts at 2pm and the second at 7pm.

Sat 10th July - 2pm - £200 NL Hold'em Freezeout (GUKPT Club Championship) - 10,000 starting chips
Sun 11th July - 5pm - £150 NL Hold'em Freezeout - 5,000 starting chips
Mon 12th July - 7.30pm - £100 PL Omaha Rebuy - 3,000 starting chips
Tue 13th July - 7.30pm - £200 NL Hold'em Freezeout - 7,500 starting chips
Wed 14th July - 7.30pm - £100 NL Hold'em Rebuy - 3,000 starting chips
Thu 15th July - 7.30pm - £250 NL Hold'em Freezeout - 7,500 starting chips
Fri 16th July - 7.30pm - £150 PL Omaha with one £100 rebuy + add on - 3,000 starting chips
Fri 16th July - 8.30pm - £25 NL Hold'em Rebuy Super Sat to Main Event - 2,000 starting chips
Sat 17th - 2pm & 7pm - £300 NL Hold'em Freezeout Main Event - 10,000 starting chips
Sun 18th - 7.00pm - £150 NL Hold'em Bounty Freezeout - 5,000 starting chips

Happy memories John. My WSOP Debut & swansong in the same Tourney!

Fond memories of a fun day, made all the better by you & Ralphy boy Railing me all the way.

I'm not sure I'll play another WSOP Event ever, or indeed play at The Rio again. Neither did much for me, that relatively modest result apart. But I'd so love to do a Ceasars or Venetian Deepstack Fessie.

Normally the gte's will be a bit more £ than what the minumum number of players would provide thus an overlay is still possible.Sorry if I'm being patronising and you already knew that and yeah agreed they aren't really putting up a gte.

Venetian deepstack festival is heaven!!!!

Yeah, I get that...but still.  It's either Gtd. or it's not imo.  May as well put up on their posters, 'We'd really like to see X number of peeps at our fessie or it'll look a failure.'

Step aside. His Royal Flushness, WSOP Bracelet Winna, is on thread.

Just a quick read, off to play the $1500 PLO/8 in 15 mins with Mr Parker, he has had a torrid time, he regged for the wrong tournament by mistake. No worries as you get your $1500 back if you dont show (once in the series is allowed) of course that is unless its a shoot-out tournament, obviously that's what was on the day before so he has gg'd $1500 in cold blood.
Blatent I made day two brag, but at the start of play today they announced three people didn't show yesterday and therefore they needed to adjust the prize pool to give them their money back. So basically my guarenteed min cash got cut! For anyone interested I came 4th on a tough table, annoying coz there were some online superstars I was warned about, the stein, djk123 and bond18, and I got rid of them with above average stack but some guy ran like god. Pab got fked in third with aces v 68, Sam was hu when I left but was 2 to 1  down having lost AK v KT ftw. Flushy, Parker, Chufty and Gibbo all still in the PLO8 with 200 left

Agreed, but if it works and gets the punters in then fair play. Most wont take the chance of putting decent gte's on and nobody coming. If Carlsberg did poker rooms... ... they'd all be like DTD.

Hey Tikay. How you been? haven't spoken to you for a while, I saw a picture of you on Sky and couldn't believe how much weight you've lost, you looked great - really impressive discipline mate something that only a true nit could do Cheesy.

How are you feeling since you've lost it all? And have you managed to quit smoking yet? Smiley Also when are you arriving in Vegas and where will you be staying? Sorry for the 21 questions but it has been a while!

The BBC coverage of the Wimbledon tennis is incredibly good. Heaven knows what it must cost, including a fat fee to the AELTC, or whomever. But worth every penny, BBC can do these things as well as Sky Sports when they try. As to sport - or anything else, really - ITV are dead in the water.

Right now, there is the most incredible match in progress. The score is 2 sets each, & 41 games to 42! It is, apparently, the longest (top level?) tennis match in history.

They started yesterday afternoon, & are still playing now!
