Why do the take the sb after 5 hands if someone leaves the table? Seems really unfair.
Bring back the 'move the short stack' discussion please. Tnx.

Just a quick read, off to play the $1500 PLO/8 in 15 mins with Mr Parker, he has had a torrid time, he regged for the wrong tournament by mistake. No worries as you get your $1500 back if you dont show (once in the series is allowed) of course that is unless its a shoot-out tournament, obviously that's what was on the day before so he has gg'd $1500 in cold blood.

EVERY decent footballer wore one. It was almost mandatory. The medical evidence was overwhelming - they aided breathing. Don't argue, it WAS so. The Sports Equipment suppliers told us so.
So what happened to nasal strips?
They were followed by "warm-downs".
The latast craze for footballers (though I'm struggling with the commercial angle) is ice baths. WTF?
I've not seen a single "nasal strip" in football for some time now. Did the craze just die? Were the boffins proved wrong?
Nah they stopped snorting the cokez

Hi Regards,
I have no plans to play anything, I'm afraid, it's a working trip, unless we find ourselves with a few spare days due to early exits, which I hope is not the case. I may squeeze the odd 1 dayer in at Ceasars if time permits, but I can't see any time for 2 dayers, as we don't have any 2 day gaps in the work schedule.
One of these years I'll get to play a proper deepstack fessie out there, which would be my Vegas poker dream. We shall see, maybe, maybe not. It's on the Bucket List.
But I'll catch up with you out there, & try to Rail you in the ME. I'll be based in the Media Centre if you need me for owt.
Regards Regards

I like the fact you can lose chips for turning up late. Maybe they could extend the policy further and players could lose additional chips for not polishing their shoes, and more still for not running a comb through their hair. This way the casino can address all the personal failings of their players in every tournament and thus improve personal standards in one hit.

I think getting more chips for arriving early is fine, but only if the tourney starts on time.

There have been times I haven't seen eye to eye with Tom over various things, but I admire the guy greatly, I think he thinks I don't like him, which is a tremendous pity, because I absolutely adore him,
I have just come across a little too caustically about my disagreements with him
mostly about the structure of poker tournaments.
Nonsense Keith. You always defended your position vigorously, but you were never rude or disrespectful.
I quite enjoy arguing with you, long may it continue.

G-Luton, from July 1st, have started a new wheeze.
IF - & only of - you register 15 minutes BEFORE the advertised start time, you get an extra 1,500 (I think, it may be 2,000) starting chips.
Its easy to see the potential problems this may cause, with folks in the queue claiming they WOULD have been 15 mins early but for a delay in Reception, & all sorts of dodges by players trying to find a work-round, but hats off to the G for at least showing some initiative.
Fair to say, if I get there 15 minutes early, & the comp starts late - as it invariably does there - the smartarse comments wll be in full-flow.
The root cause of the idea, I suspect, is the Grosvenor wide edict of refusing to allow new Tables to be opened once the Comp starts.
Sunday was typical - at advertised start time, there were only 15 players present, so 3 Tables was the probable maximum. They delayed the start - you can see why, though I think that's wrong wrong wrong. I took the time & trouble to be there on time, & so had to waste 30 minutes to accomodate latecomers. How can that be right? Anyway, eventually, they started 30 minutes late with 20+ players, & 50 players or so turned up in the end, so all was well.
So back to those "bonus" starting chips. Is that really fair, or correct, to give some players a chip advantage over others? Is it fair to reward punctuality? Currently, late players are penalised 1.5 x BB. Why not penalise them 1,500?
Interesting decision, & I fancy, & not one that G-Luton will escape negative comment about. But fair play to them for trying something different.
I'm just not convinced that's fair, or correct, though.
It's nothing new TK, a few casinos have been running these "early bird" bonuses for quite a while. The Circus here in Edinburgh has been doing it for well over a year and initially you did get some trying the old, "but I was held up by reception".
Generally it has now settled down and does seem to work.
Edinburgh also operates a "no show by the time the first hand is dealt, lose a small blind every hand" and anyone leaving the table mid tourney for more than 5 hands also gets small blinded each hand until they return.
Good to see you posting again.
Geo
Blimey - that's a bit draconian, Geo!
And thank you.
I don't think it's draconian at all. You of all people Tikay should know that there is little alternative but punitive measures to get people to turn up on time.
Yeah, on reflection, I agree.
Have the buggers shot
.
Lol, in Edinburgh Casinos this is an alternative ;-)
Geo
Maybury anyone?

This I like, but except at DTD, it ain't gonna happen!
I love Luton for the players, a terrific bunch, & the staff are grand too. But start tourneys on time, it ain't gonna happen, & I just go with the flow now.
We get back from the Break, & they won't start the Tourney until EVERY player is in his/her seat. Which is Customer Care gone bonkers.

As suggested earlier, is it simply because they want people to donk money on the pit games during this time, or is it simply ineptitude?

I like this too. Can we penalise players for wearing their caps backwards (skew-wiff is OK), & wearing those over-size headphones?
