A very good friend of mine, who mainly lurks here, but Posts a lot next door, endlessly challenges, amuses, & entertains me with new words.

From "penultimate" came "antepenultimate".

From "antepenultimate", came "pre-antepenultimate".

So, today is the pre-antepenultimate-eve of my Diet.

Epic lexographic fail, I fancy.

Is "clique" the word most often mis-spelled (mis-spelt?) on Forums?

Some quite bright people have some amazing blind spots, it's hard to tell Online, when you can't get a visual read. But I become less & less enamoured with some aspects of Poker Forums.

A guy joined, & after a very abrupt starting Post got what some may say it deserved, he said......

".....was i talking to any of you lot i was asking a simple question so keep out of it!....."

After another slap round the chops, he came in with Post # 3.

"....haha this forum is funny! so many clicky people...."

I form a mental image of guys like this.

If we can't "see" people in real-life, we don't have many tells by which to judge them, & spelling is one of them. I'm almost certain it's an unreliable yardstick. But I still believe that.

Sheesh, I've become so old, snobby & grumpy.

Note to self. Use Spell-Check in future, some bugger will be waiting to throw this one back at me. Quite right too.

All work, but no complaints at all. If you work in poker, the WSOP is the nuts.

I might manage the odd one-dayer at Caesars, & if all our Team go busto early - which I would hate - then maybe I can at last live the dream, & play a Caesars or Venetian Deepie, but that's unlikely.

I travel Premium Economy, stay in a suite, all my per diems get looked after, & I get paid for it, so it's not so bad!

I get through a mountain of work out there, & I love every minute, & am counting down the hours until I go.

There is much competition next door to "get the Vegas gig" every year, & I feel sorry for those who don't, but equally, I think I give them them value, & I, sort of, deserve it. I've never paid to go to Vegas yet, but I've never been there just to play, either. Swings & roundabouts.

I have, as usual, got a few WSOP stakes, or "investments", too, about £2,500 worth I think, just 3 or 4 special friends. It helps give me an interest, & staves off the yearning I usually get to play the biggie. I get my poker kicks on the cheap. Wink

One is back home already, & I got a result, so that has put a floor on my potential losses already. I think I invested £500, & my stake became £510! Balla, me.

He grimmed me for the tenner, too, though to be fair, I never paid him up-front for the stake. 1-1.

I think "of" instead of "have", & "lose" instead of "loose" (or vice-versa) get me most.

But "clicky" is the one that amuses me most, because it is almost always said aggressively. And - in my daft little world - devalues their argument immediately.

I'm gonna get battered about all this snobbery quite soon, I know I am.

In my defence (get in first) I spent several years doing voluntary work (JNK was obsessive about his Execs doing such things, ship the OBE) on literacy issues, helping those who struggled, I did it up in Sheffield, for some reason I cannot recall.

In truth, much of it is laziness, or can't be arsed, or don't think it matters, or even the dreaded "text-speak" rather than don't know.

One I get in chat-boxes a lot is "thort", as in "I thort you said".

English IS a very difficult language to master, though not compared to the Cyrillic(?) or far-Eastern ones. But so many foreign nationals speak & write it beautifully. I could never in a million years master a non-native language, even a simple one like French, or German.

I wonder what Charlie Munger would have to say about Clarkson?

Yesterday, the Restaurant (= canteen), was "out of stock" of my usual low-fat yogurt. Which contains 75 calories per pot. I have 2 per day, religiously.

They had another low-fat brand, in a bigger pot, which contained 103 cals per pot.

I worried & fretted endlessly about those wasted extra cals - all 56 of them. (My daily calorie ceiling is 1,200).

I extrapolated the effect of 56 extra calories per day over a 140 day diet. Hmm, over 7,000. That's nearly a week's intake.

In the end, rather than do my head in & tilt myself to death, I never ate the 2nd one, so saved 47 cals on the day. So I slept soundly, & all was well in diet-land.

I'm still not sure what this means, but I've narrowed it down.

1) I have a will of iron.

2) I possess fantastic self-discipline.

3) I am obsessed.

4) I am stubborn.

5) It is a positive to be so narrow minded.

6) It is a negative to be so narrow-minded.

7) I am OCD.

8) This may be the onset of Alzheimer's, or, at best, senility.

Go long on the high numbers, I think.

I watched a bit of Glasto last night - that's been going for forty years now, wow! I vividly recall the first one, & yet the majority of Members here were not born then.

I thought Gorillaz were awesome, as good as it gets, & far better than the pretentious U2, who they replaced, would have been. And what an interesting - & good - choice, Snoop Doggy Dog was to share the Gorillaz set. Genius thinkage, that, & I drooled.

It's odd who & what the Glasto regs like & dislike.

Who'd have thought that they'd be warm - very warm - to the near 80 year old Rolf Harris (as they were to Dame Bassey a few years back), but Gorillaz would get mixed reviews?

I am deffo out of the youth loop & mindset, & the days of me understanding what ticks their boxes are long gone.

Kylie was on Rossy, too. Looked fabulous, but the eyes gave it away, & she's lost that special sparkle she used to have. I hope it's just an after-effect of her ailment, & treatment, rather than a sign of lingering illness. So much can be gleaned from the eyes. I believe many Medics can deduce state of health from eyes, & it's certainly true in the case of, for example, horses.
