I find A-K, I massively overbet to represent weakness & get rid of him
2 questions sir:
- How does massively overbetting represent weakness?
- Why did you want to get rid of him? You have the nuts
To Chomps, it reps weakness. We have years of history, & you gotta know your customer. I knew he'd walk into the trap.
He always pays me off with garbage.
How did you get on in that Comp? I know you arrived 2 hours late. Nice table? You like Bingo Bill's game? And Jeff Buff, Chinese George? And Carlo?
I played some Dealers Choice with Bingo Bill & Mo Muse later. Oh boy.

I had AK the first hand I played and did half my stack to a guy who limped utg and called my raise with K4 and flopped the K43. Paid it off but I really don't think I could have folded.
Then I didnt play more than 2 pots for the next 90 minutes, finally picking up KK and running it into the Chinese guy next to me. I assume that's George? I knew he had Aces too, but didn't have enough chips to fold. First time I ever sigh called an all in with KK. Maybe it was your aura.
Carlo I've never met but he had his earphones in the whole time. Bingo Bill was fun, doing some successful bingoing. However, Jeff I've now shared a table with twice and although never introduced myself or shaken his hand etc, I've got to say I find him one of the most pleasant people I've shared a table with. I imagine that guy always wears a smile.
In the end I spent more time on the road than I did in the casino. No time to talk to you, Tom, Vinny or the few others I knew.
Thanks for reminding me how fat I am too

Last night's £50 at Luton was awesome.
It a a limpathon, & I get 80% of my chips at Luton from squeezing, but I never squeeze until Level 5 or 6.
Level 2, I think, 50-100, out of an 8,500 stack.
My BB, I have
SEVEN limpers, ok.
Flop
I do some speechy stuff, as I want to reach the turn cheaply, as I have 6 players behind me.
I check, all check, Button bets 1,000. I Call, everyone else departs, including Andy Liu UTG with misplayed J-J.
Turn,
.
I Check-call 2,000 this time.
River I fill up when the 3 pops out.
Now, for the first time ALL EVENING, I make an aggressive action, & bet 1,000. My man dwells, then makes it 3.5k.
I dwell, & set him in for my last not very much. He folds, face up, 5-5.
Do people not watch what is happening? I'd been fast asleep for an hour, & now, in the BB, I'm suddenly calling off my stack!

Tom said the identical thing of Jeff Buff - wht a lovely guy, always smiling.
You are not fat as such, just quite plump. We used to call it "run to seed".

you missed my question about tea bags, unless you have fallen out with me following my poor joke
The question was 'if you had to drink a cup of normal tea, which would be your bag of choice'?

I never missed it, it's in the queue.
But as I'm here now, by "normal tea" can I asume you mean leaf tea?

Respect to Mondy, who updates his Diary so frequently. Every single day I plan to update, & I never seem to get there. I really need to organise myself better, though in mitigation, I do have quite a bit on these days.
Anyways, for starters, it would help if I was fitter, physically & mentally, but before I lay out the plan to solve that, I need to put this tea-making nonsense to bed.....
Tbf you are a lot busier than I am but thanks anyway, see you at the weekend.

I mean like standard tea bag, or won't you even entertain tea in a bag.
I work in Harrogate, got my Aunty some incredible tea from Betty's and a little metal tea-bag type thing as she always moans about making a full pot.

I recently picked one of these up at Ikea for about £1.50. Great for making a quick fresh brew in the mug during breaks. Can leave it in the mug as long as you wish to stregthen the brew.

No, I am obliged to suffer tea-bags, as real tea is such a rarity these days. When I retire, & live at home full-time, I'll revert to real tea for ever.
Most tea bags are pretty much alike to me, but a good quality one - Tetleys Yorkshire - is preferred to the dreadfully bland cheapo own-label guff available in supermarkets.
In leaf tea, any good quality Ceylon Tea is preferred. Never - never EVER - liquid paraffin, aka Earl Grey.
I was not aware you worked in Harrogate, one of my favourite Towns in the whole of the UK, (Montpelier Gardens are exemplary), & of course, Betty's Tea Room makes quite splendid tea, & makes it well.
Until recently, Sky Betting & Gaming (SB&G) were Head Office'd in Harrogate, in Central House, so I got up there a lot on business. I always insist upon stsaying at The Old Swan, one of my favourite Hotels in the entire world. Agatha Christie liked it there, too.
SB&G then moved, due to rapid growth, to Leeds, a big office off Wellington Street. By coincidence, I had an office in Welington Street Leeds for 20 years, & often stayed at the (then) rather nice Queens Hotel, which has, sadly, gone downhill & downmarket now. A shame. Evey time I visit our new Leeds Office, I try & dare myself to visit my old office, but I'm not sure opening old doors is a good thing. They are all young & zippy, & old peeps reminiscing is not eveyone's, err, cup of tea. Smooth link there, eh?
Do you live in Harrogate? If so, you must be posh. If all Towns were laid out as well as Harrogate, it would be wonderful - I think The Stray is simply fantastic. Do you know the history of The Stray, & the lengths gone to in order to ensure it's pristine acreage remains equal in area to originally envisaged? It makes no logical sense to fight so hard to preserve it's totality, but I think it's fantastic that they do. It even has it's own "Defence" Group - it's here....

At last, I had a decent night's sleep, & I feel a million times better today. Amazingly clever stuff, that sleep. I slept solid, without a break, until 10am, & was woefully late for work, & nearly missed the 10.30 Telecon, which was to discuss Saturday's Newcastle SPT.
When I'm tired, & feeling "less than well" as I am right now, due to bad eating, weight, & a few problems, my mental resilience lessens considerably.
So, last night, after a particularly bad day, due to selfish, self-centred, & snobbish "bigger" poker players, who have no regard for the bread & butter players, the 2p-4p guys, if you like, I was at my wits end, & decided I'd had enough of them, & would retire from poker forum life, probably retire full stop, in fact. I could still keep myself occupied with matters close to my heart, APAT, GOSH, Raising The Stakes, Variety Club, etc, & travel, relax, see more of my special friends (whom I disgracefully neglect right now due to time-pressures), watch Test Cricket, get me a dog, da de da.
It's amazing how many poker players seem to know how to run a card-room, & what SP - or 'Stars, Tilt, or any other Room, do wrong. But they all fail on the acid test - what is the answer to the question if you invert it? Wel they don't know, because it's never crossed their tiny little minds to invert a problem by way of seeking an understanding of it.
And so many of them know how to knock, & complain. But they don't know how to be constructive.
JNK taught me a great lesson in that area. If I raised a problem with him, or complained about it, he'd throw me out of his office, or suggest I leave my car keys in his office & he'd arrange a taxi to take me home. He did NOT tolerate high maintenance staff, those who want their hand held when the going gets a bit tough. You don't need to be very bright to spot a problem, to be honest, the solution is what takes a bit of thought, though.
"
Don't bring me problems you daft sod, bring me solutions. Any cretin can bring me problems, but it takes a bright spark to bring me solutions. I can find my own problems, tyvm, it's solutions I pay you to bring me".
So I'd give it the hangdog curly lip job, & then he'd say "
& don't sulk, you big girl, just take it on the chin & do your bloody job
". I was blessed to work for such a man, & the day I started working for him changed my life for the better in so many ways, nobody - except Tom, & my Dad - ever taught me so much about life. How I came to work for him was THE most peculiar twist of fate, too.
You could not make up how it happened, it was a zillion-to-one shot, & I remember standing in his office that fateful morning in about 1985, & the first words he uttered to me. "Might be an idea to do your flies up, Tony". Whoops.
Anyway, I slept well last night, & I'm fresh as a daisy today. So bring on the knocking crew, I'm ready. A good night's kip, who'd have thought it had such powers? It's free, too. How good is that?

I work in Harrogate for a Bank, I don't reveal which bank I work for (Tighty
) as it is against company policy to gamble or to comment or post on public forums revealing the link to said Bank. I work in financial advice so we get moved around a lot, I actually live in Yeadon, near the Airport but have lived and worked all over Leeds.
Harrogate is the best place I have ever worked, the town is kept so clean and the walk from the old church where I park is really pleasent. I walk on the stray everyday but I found out the other day that it is much bigger than I first thought. During the summer the council are out everyday making sure it is clear from rubbish left by the previous park visitors. A shame that it is necessary but also a nice touch from the council to keep the surrounding areas clean.
The old swan is a lovely hotel, as is Hotel Du Vin but the later is a bit more poncy. I used to work at the Queens Hotel, back in 1999, even then it was going down hill. Now its a shadow of its former self.
I have a friend that works at SkyBet, he wasn't happy about the move but understood it to be necessary.
Anyway back to Tea, I like Yorkshire Tea, either loose leaf of a bag if in a rush. I've recently moved on to sweeteners in an attempt to reduce my sugar intake. Doesn't spoil it as much as I expected.

There is a another "Hotel Du Vin" in York, backing onto the Racecourse. As you say, "poncy". I stayed there when I attended York Races back in August, (20th, I think), & have incredibly bad memories of the evening, one of the worst days I endured in 2010. I actually did a good bit of shouty-wouty stuff that night, on the 'phone, & it was to have consequences which still endure to this day. Bad time, that, all caused by sheer stupidity & people wanting to cause mischief. I rarely shout at peeps, but I did that night. Odd I should be so reminded of that awful night.
How extraordinary that you work for a Bank which has a Staff Policy of "no gambling". You could not make these things up. A Bank that does not like gambling, fancy that.
Queens Hotel, Leeds - yup, very sad. The SB&G Xmas Party was there, & I had a mooch round for old times sake. It's aura has gone.
The cleanliness of Harrogate - good point. Is there a cleaner, tidier, major Town in Britain? It reminds me very much of Cheltenham, in fact.
