lol, couldn't resist doing the sporcle thing as well and I got something like a 80% strike rate on americas, africa and europe.
Actually thought that was pretty good, didnt try asia as I didn't want to embarrass myself completely
GOnna practice though until I can hit the genius level. Race you to 193 so we can hold our heads high
I'm afraid you would beat me by a mile. I mean, really, it is an incredible feat - I will be very surprised if anyone can get within 20% of Alex's score. Even our resident brainboxes & pedants like Tighty, Andrew, Claw, gatters, etc.
I'll have a wager with you though. (I know there wil be no cheating). I bet "ManuelsMum" gets within 5% of Alex's number, & MereGeek within 10%.
pretty sure tank can do/has done 100% at this
I got 100% of europe and s. america last time I tried but can't do africa or asia at all

Yes, I would back Tank to pretty much get the lot, he was different gravy. He is much missed here. I was scared to debate with him, he was always 2 or 3 levels above & ahead of any debate.
I used to see a lot of his Tweets after he left here, he was quite heavy into Politics in Scotland, but I don't recall seeing any of his Tweets for a while now.
Youi got 100% of Europe? Jeez. I need to try harder.

Cast your minds back 6 or 7 years to to when Rob Yong was recruiting his Team for DTD, & Simon was announced as the TD etc. There were sort of polite silences, "what, Simon Trumper, are you sure?".
It turned out to be an incredibly inspirational selection, truly, nobody could have done that job better. If you think back, not all the selections were right, but most of them, & the key ones, were. Never try to second-guess Rob Yong.
Could you elaborate on this pls teeks?
On what, specifically, Mr Cos, Sir?
The original reaction to Simon's appointment, do you mean?
OK, turn it upside down, look at it another way, a less contentious way. Could, or did, anyone believe he would be even one tenth as good as he is at running that place?
When it opened, I nicked him "Mother Hen", & it still applies today. And no, his appointment was not met with, shall we say, great enthusiasm, by the Great British poker public.
It irks me that a few of the hardcases are so disrespectful to his poker abilities, too. OK, he's Old Skool, & thus useless....but even now, in his increasingly rare Live Events, he still keeps cashing, his hit rate is extraordinary. I'd back him in every single Live Tourney he played, even now. In fact I do, when opportunity arises, & my ROI on him is very satisfactory. OK, he's not Middy, Cody, or whatever, but he generally optimises his situations. He'll do for me.
The way Simon plays poker is irrelevant to what I was trying to ask about - in fact Simon isn't what I was alluding to. He's a great TD and really knows his stuff. Excellent appointment, especially given how he seems to suit Rob's personality too.
I wanted you to talk more about the other selections. I'm curious as to why so many of the people (several respected members of the poker community, and of course Paul Zimbler of TIPS) are no longer associated with the club?

"2,Players were willing and enthusiastic participants in the program, contributing regularly and at times pledging large amounts. Between 22 and 27 defensive players contributed funds to the pool over the course of three NFL seasons. In some cases, the amounts pledged were both significant and directed against a specific opposing player.
Cash bonus to knockout specific players, whatever could be wrong with that ?

I know it is irrelevant, but when I start rambling, I cannot stop myself. And your question was not phrased very concisely, so I was not sure where you were heading.
Your more specific question? Umm, pass. Some are easily answered & obvious, but overall, that would probably generate a bit too much heat.
PS - "Several respected members of the Poker Community AND Paul Zimbler" was noted, in case you think I missed it.....do behave.

They try to do it anyway! Legally, I mean. OK, maybe not "knock out", but deffo they focus on specific players to "hit them" hard. Surely it is normal if, say, they think the QB is susceptible to a bit of rough treatment, to give him some sport?

In the flow of the game fair enough, but premeditated to set out to knack a specific player for cash has got got to be wrong. Imo of course.
Though we did used to do it in Sunday league for pints

I'm struggling to see the difference. They do "hit" players, legally & under Team Orders, so what is the difference? I doubtrthe "private" arrangement is done for anything other than the purpose of bettering the Team's result, or am I being naive there?
I need to have a little cogitate on this.
I'll be back.

PS - Bet you enjoyed watching JAKALLY on 865, bit of a top bloke him.
Leaving for Hong Kong on the 18th of March, my cousin has worked out there for 9 years now and I have promised to go and see him for years but as I am not a big fan of flying I have always swerved it but alas I have grown a pair and decided to go for it. I timed the visit for March to coincide with the Honk Kong Rugby Sevens competition which will be on whilst I am out there so should be a good little holiday. I also need the break to get away from everything so the timing of the holiday is very good for me.
I have much respect for Mr Jakally, as a person more than a player obviously
I love listening to his ramblings when ever I meet him and yes I did enjoy watching him on the Show. I don't get much time to watch the show these days but I watched it both Tuesday and Thursday evening and I enjoyed them both immensely and thought you dealt with the "issues" on your show very well but as Pros now I expected nothing less of yourself and Mr Orford.
Now go and enjoy yourself today and make sure you stick it in those pesky kidz eyes

Hitting legally is one thing, hitting with a bounty payment to knock the player out of the game, another entirely
Player safety has been a major concern these last few years in the NFL, with tougher on field rules, and deliberate and pre-mediated strategies to injure others? A complete no-no

About twenty-five or so years ago most NHL teams would have a "goon" on the roster whose sole purpose was to pick a fight with/injure/scare opposing team's players until it descended into predictable farce. Serious career-ending and even life-threatening injuries were suffered and there were several ensuing lawsuits which tarnished the game for a decade or more.
