There are some very obvious reasons why a French or many other continental countries have weaker players.  Firstly these markets are far less "mature" than say the Canadian market and therefore a lot more people who are "new" to the game, in general the more experienced you are at a skill game the better you are going to be. Secondly the language barrier, if you want to study your game the vast majority of learning tools are in English.

This. It's pretty tilting how much you sermonise on this subject tikay, effectively tarring nearly everyone I know with the racist brush for no good reason. Shut up about it already.

Tom Finney is 90 today

Did you ever see him play?

I went to the National Football Museum in Preston a while ago and the Finney exhibit is staggering. What a player he looked on the scratchy film and by the statistics

described this morning as the "greatest two footed player ever"

I remember that he played right-wing, left-wing and centre-forward for England during his career.

After seeing your motor museum pictures I have just stumbled upon this.  Hobbies make people do the strangest of things.

A full sized teak replica Mercedes 300 SL

Now being sold on ebay!

Yeah but Finney did it when their was a forward line of five; two wingers, two inside-forwards and a centre-forward.

He scored a few goals too.
