Not sure I understand - what is that, a link to buy it? Will it play on my TV, or computer?

Warning- it is sycophantic mush though. It reminded me of one of those celebrity autobiographies where they make the subject out to be a wonderful person and don't talk about anything negative about them, except for that terrible thing that they did that everybody knows about so they have to talk about it, but that turns out to be no big deal, and not actually their fault after all.

Disagree with this

It was entirely unsycophantic. Saw the downsides to Senna too

If you miss it on Monday on Sky Movies, Amazon has it to buy for a tenner, play it on tv if you have a dvd player

Me? Another Level incoming, I can so feel it......

When does your Eureka thing start, & will you be at DTD this weekend? Be good to catch up.

xx to Shelley too, please.

Make your minds up guys. I'm pretty sure Skippy is levelling here. Pretty sure-ish.

Most of you will remember John Lennon, & I got so cross with all the stuff that was published after he died, they made him out to be angelic. He was a genius, I loved him to bits, but angelic, no way.

Reminds me, I need to re-visit those "flawed genius" replies.  I seem to recall someone suggested John Terry - not to be rude, but whatever he is or is not, "genius" is not in the mix.

You'll be widely mocked for that view!

See you tomorrow. Raise me, I'm super-weak.

PS - Don't ask why, but I'd like a photo taken with you tomorrow, we can get Tighty to take it.

I'm not levelling, you should still watch it because it's good and I wouldn't want to put you off, I disagree with Tighty and think that if you main fear is that it will be hagiographic, those fears will come true. But you'll still like it.

Oooh, hagiographic, that's a new one on me!

I looked it up - yup, understand now. Bet Tighty knew already.

How do you have words like that in your armoury, are you widely read, well educated, or do you just happen to know such things?

I was just chatting with another bunch of guys, elsewhere, today, & was saying how much I wished I had a better vocab, as I'd love to write a book. Apparently - they tell me - I write as I speak, which (might be) good for Forums & the like, little short stuff, but would be a neat trick to pull off in a book.

I just re-visited the bio of Frankie Fraser - Mad Frankie Fraser, this chap.....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frankie_Fraser

(Note his footballing relatives).

He was barely literate, & very much wrote as he spoke, but his bio was all the better for that, & it is one of the best reads I can recall, really gripping, & the way he used language came across beautifully.

"So me & John does him over, gave him a proper bashing up, he was a game little bugger, but I had to teach him whats what, so I stuck a chopper in his head & slashed him, you have to respect blokes like that".

So a decent vocab is not mandatory, but you can only get away with it if you have a certain (high) profile.

The Senna film - yes yes yes!

Apart from everyone on here, I have been pressed by many others who read this thread - some not even members - to go see the film, & it was suggested that the film is not the usual sycophantic mush, & is mainly genuine archive footage, so I concede, & I'll try & go see it. James Hartigan, something of a film geek, eulogised about it, too, & not much impresses him.

Is it on Sky Movies, or will I have to go to a picture house? How exciting, going to the pictures!

Top pic is of the Odeon in Clerk street Edinburgh, closed down now though. I posted a pic on the forum of a young Geo, complete with 70's hairdo accompanying his siblinga and others to a viewing of Jungle Book there.

I wondred if you would recognize it Geo!

I confess, I don't recall the earlier photo you posted though.

When is the Edinburgh Zoo penguin enclosure re-opening, do you know? I believe it closed for a bit of a refurb.

Are the pandas still attracting big crowds?

The Pandas are going down a storm, there's even a Panda cam online

http://www.edinburghzoo.org.uk/pandacam.html

The penguin enclosure is still undergoing maintenance so no daily penguin walk at the mo.

This is the cinema today, I took the pic on the way home, a sorry sight as it used to be a wonderful building.

This is the pic of a family outing there early seventies
