I am always a bit surprised when poker players say this about horseracing. Enjoying betting on racing and playing poker are very similar in my view. All about solving a puzzle from multiple pieces of information and once you fall in love with that the majesty of the racing itself becomes irresistible.....or to me at least.
Don't take the bait.... Woodsey is only pulling your leg. In fact, he is a jockey IRL.

Huge difference imo. It doesn't matter how many +EV bets you make in poker and whatever size they are, the casino won't ban you for making them.

I'm just joking/semi trolling mate tbh, just like having a bit of a wind up
That said I don't really like it myself, I just find it a bit pointless but that is just me.

Actually I remember maybe 3 or 4 years ago there was this guy that won about £3-400k at roulette in gala Notts, they banned him as he was winning too much. He ended up doing the lot back elsewhere in Birmingham I think. I'm sure the guys that were there every night know the story better than me as I heard it second hand through them.

The answer I was looking for was Darts, whether that is actually the correct answer, decide for yourself.
http://www.espn.co.uk/espn/sport/story/46914.html
As you were
Would definitely put every other achievement on that list ahead of Taylor and I actually quite like darts too. Absolutely deserves to be classified as a sport imo. How they can justify having Archery and Walking in the Olympics and no darts is beyond me.
Have you ever pulled back a compound archery bow?
A bloke in a pub could have a vaguely decent stab at darts, in the right conditions with a bit of luck they might get close to a world champion in a one-off game - but they'd be absolutely awful at archery, and they'd never win anything against a top player.
Same with power walking (that distance at that speed) come to think of it - but walking as a sport is weird so I'm less inclined to stick up for it

I disagree and even though I don't think that the achievements of Phil Taylor rank alongside some of the others in the list I think there are a fair few sports that rank above darts in terms of the right guy just running incredible on the day. American Football, Baseball, Ice Hockey and Golf probably being the biggest ones imo.

if you don't have to change your shoes to do it then it's not a sport
so darts is out, archery is borderline and speedwalking is in
poker will never be a sport except when played at luton G

Whilst on sport, did you know that the UK Backward Running Championship was held in Manchester last weekend? Oh yes.
There is a London Backward Running Championship, too.

Ah ok, I did not get that
Pretty much the opposite to the current theme of the thread but I was just reading this, I'm not that clued up on Taekwondo but seems a bit of joke...
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/olympics/18233018
Not really sure how it could be justified that someone who is ranked 93rd in the world would get choosen over someone about to be ranked world number one. Shame politics has to creep into pretty much everything.
I know Aaron and his family quite well, they used to live in the street behind us and were both members at my old man's snooker club. Really nice family, he and his brother are both really nice lads. They moved to Manchester once his career started taking off as the facilities here weren't good enough for someone who was obviously going to be a world class athlete.
He left the UK setup after he got beat in the first round last year and he didn't like the way they were coaching him. He's now a self funded athlete and has put together 'Team Cook'. His brother does lots of research, he's got all his own coaches etc. and it's obviously worked as he's tearing it up again now.
I don't know the exact ins and outs, but obviously it's riled some people and maybe they're trying to make an example. They haven't actually got to name the team until July though, so I'd be very surprised if he doesn't get in eventually and reading the articles there is a panel including Woodward which can overturn any decision if they see fit.
Hopefully sense is seen and he gets to represent us there and bring home the gold!!

I am forever indebted to Wikipidea for this, my life is complete now, & I think I'll die a happy man.
Backward Running - aka "retro running" goes under a variety of names.
Backwards running,
Running backwards,
Reverse running,
Retro running,
Retro locomotion
Hold up, it gets better. When I read stuff like this, I'm always fascinated to try & imagine who could write such insightful stuff.
Running backwards up a hill is not very dangerous. It will always be at a lower speed due to the enhanced difficulty, and if one trips there is less of a distance towards the ground and it is easier to absorb the impact with the arms and buttocks so that the head is not as likely to hit.
Running backwards down a hill is more dangerous, and it is advised that someone learn how to drop into a backward roll before attempting it, to deal with any resulting tripping or loss of balance in the prone movement. Although the distance to the ground is greater running downhill backwards, the incline makes it much easier to perform rolls in downhill running, than when running level ground, so it can be done more instinctively. This applies to backward running and the backroll as it does to front running and the front roll.
Then we come to "Dangers". Read carefully please, this may come in useful.
As the head faces forward, running backwards has the danger in that the runner cannot see anything on the ground or in the way of his or her path. Unlike forward running, it is also much more difficult to brace a backward fall or drop into a roll if one trips.
Whatever you do, remember this though, most important.
While downhill backward running is essentially the reverse of uphill running, and uphill backward running of downhill running
Finally, for the Backward Running equivelant of Level 5 poker players, don't try this, it's a bit advanced.
Backward running adds another dimension to running, and when complemented by sidestepping in both directions (with and without crossovers front and behind intermittently) covers the essential dimensions of human movement
Another shocker.....
Backwards running allows referees in sports such as football or rugby to continuously observe an area of play without interfering with play.
You think I got levelled there, right? Maybe. Check it out.

OK, today's quiz.
If a blonde were the author of all that stuff, name him or her. I have a name in mind.....

I've been inundated with requests to know who won the Backward Running Championship.
It was, of course, Garret Doherty, from Donegal, who ran a mile in under 7 minutes on Sunday. Backwards, obv.
Here he is earlier this year, when he broke the Backward Half Marathon World Record.
