Funny you should say that.

One of the highlights of my trip last month was playing a $230 8-game at the Nugget.

Was doing OK until this bloke showed up to my left:

http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=r&n=172

Apparently, trying to bluff him off a number 3 in triple-draw was a bad idea. Who knew? Some people just can't find the fold button

Would definitely love to give a comp like that another go

APAT have HORSE, Razz and 8 game on the schedule for the new season.

Will there be lots of old men nut-peddling? That's what I need.

Since you're now a mixed games limit specialist thought I'd mention the best fun I had there this year was playing a $240 HORSE tourn at the Nuggett

Unforch finished 3 short of a cash in 12th but, like you've mentioned, thoroughly enjoyed the old school atmo & players...unusually found myself as one of the youngest at most tables I played.

With 2 tables left I knocked this guy out during the stud round:

http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=r&n=4152

He's only got a few bracelets at Stud so I more than matched his understanding of the game

Did you apply the conkers ruling after knocking him out and claim his bracelets for yourself?

Off to the Gamblers Book Shop tomorrow morning, have run out of books, & need something for the flight home.

Looks pretty good from what I can gather......

http://www.yelp.com/biz/gamblers-book-club-las-vegas

It is on South Eastern Avenue, so presumably $10 or so  in a cab should cover it?

Shared tables with him on several occasions Downtown. Amazing the bygone "legends" you get to share Tables with down there. Oklohoma Johnny Hale was my favourite, but there were so many others.

Think I sat next to Sklansky in my WSOP O8 thing, & McEvoy several times, & TJ was in all the Downtown stuff, too.

Downtown poker is the best (for me) I absolutely love it, just playing the Mixed Games & stuff, best thing ever.

The people, the characters, just make it so special. Those that get easily tilted by minor irrelevances such as Dealer errors don't bother, the standard is not good, but the Dealers are just such terrific characters, & you soon get on first name terms with every one of them.

If I get the chance to do Vegas again, in a non-work capacity, I'll stay Downtown, I love it to bits down there.

At the back of my mind, I'd like to go back for the Autumn Fessies that coincide with the WSOP Final Table in October/November, but only if there are some O8, Omaha, & Mixes Games scheduled, failing which I'll not bother.

Shame we never hooked up, two well-mannered & elderlyish English Gents crushing the locals would have been quite a pairing......

Breathtaking. The Post I made about the App Store a few days back must have been premature, I thought their 5th Birthday was then.

The numbers are simply staggering. And think how much bigger they would have been if they had allowed poker players to run the place?

Been here a month today, it has flown by.

Short work day today, just got to film a wrap/review of the trip, some links & GV's, & presumably the bubble, assuming we can get access to the room. ESPN generally have us all thrown out before the bubble bursts, so some skullduggery may be necessary.

Normally, we are allowed in the Cardrooms for 10 minutes per day with a TV camera - & I do mean 10 minutes, of which 5 are for filming, & 5 for prepping. We have to be escorted by WSOP official, who times us on a stopwatch! We over-ran one day, & he actully placed his hand over the camera lens - "STOP NOW".

Hopefully, all done by 3pm, then am meeting Camel & we are going to a Baseball game to watch the 51-ers. It is not too hot today, thankfully, sitting in that heat watching Baseball would near kill me.

Online check-in for my flight later, fingers crossed for a window seat, pack tomorrow morning, then nip round to that Bookshop, then off to the Airport, arrive home Sunday morning. Am working on Tuesday & Thursday, Shows both nights, so I'll soon be back in the groove.

Have kept up to date with my work e-Mails whilst here, so might take Monday off to recover.

Have put a TON of weight on, so will do a weigh-in on Monday morning & start yet another diet. Think I need to lose 2 stone by September 10th. Easy.

Had an absolute ball, but will be pleased to get home & see trees, grass, & birds. Jeez, I miss trees & grass so much, there is almost no verdancy (?) here.

I've stayed at the Nugget for the last 2 summers and spent less than 3 days on the strip in 5 weeks. I actually paid to stay longer at the Nugget last year when I had already paid for my room at the Palazzo.

I managed a couple near bubbles this year, several 10hr days with a late bust and a couple non events where I was out by dinner. By far the best fun I had was the O8 comp at Binions, which was one of the comps I basically bubbled, and one that you went on to chop. The bubble wasn't fun, but the people were and it was nice talking to people instead of hoodies pulled over heads  Wink

When busting a tourney it was a quick drive back over to the Nugget from Binions, or just around the corner to the room from the Grand. Also, the trip was made all the better by the fact there were about 30 of us floating around the Nugget, so in the event of busting it was easy to find someone to eat with, and most importantly there was always someone to drink with!

I wouldn't know many of the characters you're talking about, but I always had great banter with the people on my tables and it was always fun trying to encourage the table to do some shots when playing the nightly holdem comps Cheesy

Not sure about next year at present myself, obviously I hope to be there though for the same 2 weeks. Our lot next door are already planning it out and I imagine there will be a similar number at the Nugget again.

I actually bumped into Glenn at the airport, he was outside smoking as we pulled up when leaving and I spent a few minutes chatting with him whilst waiting for the guy to escort me through check in and security. Shame we weren't all in the same tournament, would have been fun getting you on the sambuca Tikay Wink

I wouldn't worry too much about checking in online to get a window seat, we just bowled into the airport and the plane was that empty we got our own row!

Yup, just had the edict.

NO MEDIA INSIDE THE ROPES UNTIL AFTER THE BUBBLE. (ESPN EXCEPTED).

What? Glenn was SMOKING?

Tsk, tsk.

PS - Window seat - I get obsessive about a window seat ion Virgin Atlantic, as you get a huge storage space beside the seat, to keep all my clutter.  Like clutter, me.

I may be mistaken, it may have been his partner that was smoking?

I had been up all night drinking, so wasn't in the most observant of states and was pretty tilted about the hassle we had with the limo to the airport!

Am not at all surprised to be honest, he has some dreadful habits.
