I was loitering around with Pads when the hand happened, then tikay shouts me over asking if I saw the hand:
Me : I'm clueless about PLO, couldn't read the board even if I did see it.
Adam who overhears this : Me neither.
Such a ledge.

Never knew you were into Steam Locomotives, Greg?
You go up a notch in my estimation.
It really is remarkalke how popular these "Preservation Railways" have become. I'm not entirely sure why that is.
Kids love em Teeks
Must be all the Thomas the tank engine and other pre school stuff.
Took my boy on several steam trains when he was younger.
Next time you venture South go take a look at the Lavender line

just seeing the Status Quo stuff.
I had an early-morning meeting at Starbucks today. The bloke was late and I waited outside with my coffee. Another bloke was doing the same thing, (playing with his phone and checking his watch).
His coffee cup said Paul and it was definitely Paul Weller. Smoked at least three Marlboro Red before his mate turned up. I was very torn about whether to speak to him. Totally starstruck. He looked well.
Yes, he's another one who has been amazingly enduring, & worn well, all things considered. Same age as you too, I believe.

I do find it extraordinary how many pop & rock stars, considering their lifestyle, seem to have survived. Obviously, plenty have fallen by the wayside, but the amount who have survived is truly amazing.
Quite why & how so many "establishment" figures in the entertainment world have fallen foul of the Yewtree thing, but so many of these lads in the music industry have escaped inquiry, is a bit of a mystery, but that's another story altogether.
Leaving that aside completely, there are so many pop & rock stars from 40 or so years back who are still cutting the mustard in some shape or form. I don't know why, but I rather like that.
They all look pretty cool to me, too. There must be an art to growing old & yet still looking the bizz.
I'll stop short of
heroes
, but I love all these guys, as much for their resilience as anything.

There are, of course, exceptions to every rule.
I have to turn the TV onto a different channel with this chap comes on, giving it the "so I said to Freddie" drivel.

Really?
I'd have thought you were a little old for Mr Weller. I had you down as more the Chubby Checker, Lonnie Donnegan, Elvis Presley sort of era.
No disrespect intended, obv.

Nowt wrong with those artistes.
My first love is 60s and 70s Soul.
Motown , Stax , Atlantic and the obscure Detroit labels but as a 14/15 year old i was blown away by The Jam.Wellers lyrics seemed to emcompass every emotion this teenager was feeling, and have continued to do so .

Lovely trip report Tony, I've not read one of yours for quite a while now but there is one small detail that I feel the need to pull you up on if you will indulge me.
I like to do that thing with my cards where they are all in order too. Aces on top dueces at the bottom, but alphabetical order for the suits is just plain wrong Tony and you should be ashamed of yourself.
Suits must be in BRIDGE order; Spades, Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs.
Please!
I can't be having reverse Alpha, Ralph, Bridge order or not, sorry.
Odd that you & I both do this. I bet we are the only two daft enough to not only do it, but admit to it.
It's just part of the squeeze to me, one at a time, then "sort" them into order.
I stood behind Flushy in a Vegas WSOP jobbie last year, & I could see his cards, they were in random higgledy-piggledy order. That boy will never win a WSOP Bracelet as long as he has a hole in his arse, no technique. You must have technique.

Maybe somewhere on the internets a poster called 'TheModfather' is bragging about seeing that poker bloke who always wears a karate suit off of the telly in Starbucks.
Weller is appearing in the Jon Lord thing @ the Royal Albert Hall. That's real vintage stuff.
If Lord Grumpy is Offline from blonde that night, we know where he'll be.

Just as well, I only did it for you.
You'll be pleased to know there are only 17 more Posts to come on the matter.
I will reply to Adam, he of the horrible misread, too. What a thing to happen. More on that later.
