I'm a fan of standing desks, especially small communal ones which encourage short, sharp meetings.

Some things are so fit for purpose they almost never change, or not significantly.

Wearing watches on our wrists, cars with 4 wheels, egg cups, mouse traps, brassieres. The basic idea was so right.

Included in these is the common or garden desk. In offices & studies the world over, a desk is a desk is a desk. We sit at our desk & do things.

But suddenly, there is a new desk, a different desk, & there is a huge demand.

The Standing Desk. A desk we stand at.

Did you ever imagine the day when Jeremy Clarkson would be "begging you for forgiveness"?

That must have been some bollocking he got from the BBC.

"contrite" & "Clarkson" are words that rarely go hand in hand.

A load of sensationalist, double-standard crap imo.

Listen to almost any current gangsta rap track, watch almost any film and you will hear the the N word used often. Sometimes ad nauseam.

Any interest in either of these? I'm sure you wouldn't struggling in selling a %, especially because you are value.

http://www.wsop.com/2014/structuresheets/13664-structure.pdf

Saw you itt & was reminded of this, sorry I never replied before, plum forgot.

The first one is Limit O8, & I just don't "get" Limit. I wish I did, I think it's suit me, but I just can't fathom what the general idea is.

The PLO, like the Limit, is $10k to enter, way too big for me, pretty sure I'd play scared, too.

There are Mega Sats to both though, so if I get there, I'll give them a crack. Stranger things have happened.

Why is your e-addy "cue power"? Fancy yourself on the baize?

Make sure you come to the 6-Max UKPC, 6-Max Omaha should be huge fun. You might even do better this time.

Yeah the limit one probably isn't suited to your pressure game. I'm hoping to be able to make some of the UKPC depends on work really, can't make UKIPT as I'm away with work next week in Oz. You'd sell out no trouble for the PLO so if you wanted to play then I reckon you should put a thread up. I'm going to be out for some of the WSOP so will no doubt catch up then.

On the "cue power" email address, it was from my younger days. Don't even know the password for it now. Though yes I did fancy myself as a player, ended up playing a lot of 9-Ball as with my eyesight Snooker was too tough. Haven't played much for a while, though we have an annual tournament with work that always gets me trying to roll back the years.

Hope you are well.

Totally with Tom here.

I had never watched The Wire, passed me by totally, and a mate gave me his box set to watch. After six episodes, although the story was good, i gave up, because all the N word stuff was getting on my nerves. This stuff freely available to watch on demand on Sky still. Seems odd to me. Yes, I know, one is a man using the word in real life, and the other a TV programme, but it surely still encourages use of the word.

I'm no prude, nor racist, but I do find it amazing you have to watch every p and q these days for fear of upsetting some group that in turn is freely allowed to use the word themselves.

I agree, too, it's all got a bit silly. The internet & Social-Media is a double-edged sword, in so many ways.

The Clarkson furore is much the same, some might say, as this.....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golliwogg

That really is some jaw-dropping Wiki page.

There are racists & racism everywhere, all around us, including here on blonde, but I can't see how Clarkson or Robertson's Jams are amongst them.

Strange times we live in.

The group don't use the word themselves, some of them do.  Most would find it offensive if you used it. Context is everything though.

Clarkson is clearly his own worst enemy at times, but this one definitely looks a bit silly to me.  I saw the video in question and if he used the word, it is way too hard to tell if he does and he is clearly trying to avoid saying it out loud on camera.

Funny thing that rhyme, sure we used it freely when we were kids without realising what it was about.  Remember starting to recite it to my first daughter and then thought wtf when I realised what was coming.

Edit. Someone has posted a gollywog.  Facepalm

As kids, we all used to recite that poem, & never gave it a 2nd thought.

It's good that we live in more enlightened days, of course, & I'd rather we went too far than not far enough.

There used to be a very popular TV Show on BBC, "The Black & White Minstrels".

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Black_and_White_Minstrel_Show

That eventually became widely regarded as racist, too. Maybe it was, I don't know. Never seemed that way to me.

As you say, it's all about context.

"....Yeah the limit one probably isn't suited to your pressure game....".

I'm amazed you got that one though Bradders, have to say, it was a new keyboard job here.

The $10k WSOP PLO  is just too big for me, & whilst I can sort of muddle my way through smaller buy-in stuff, I'd be way outa my depth v the Big Boys. Gotta know your limits.

I'll be playing 3 WSOP Events, fingers crossed, & they come to $5,500 ($1,000 PLO, $1,500 PLO8 & maybe $3,000 PLO8), out of a total package of around $10,000 worth of events, but I'll swerve the big stuff unless I get very lucky early doors in something.

Fingers crossed, see you out there.

Off to Oz next? What a life. Enjoy.

I don't really get the whole racism thing anymore.  I grew up thinking that racism was about actions, not words.

Perhaps just something else I'm completely out of touch with.

Eh?

Since when did you "grow up"?

You are still a kid. What are you, 18, 19?

Pfft.

You're right. Getting old is compulsory, growing up is optional.
