After I, perhaps ill-advisedly, let my guard momentarily slip yesterday, & confessed to being a bit miffed by so much deliberate mischief & negativity, I had a whole bunch of PM's overnight, & now I feel guilty for wasting their time. Anyway, one of them included this......

You & your Blonde team have created the finest poker website & forum going.

I know your one to "accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative, latch on to the affirmative & don't mess with Mr in between" to quote Bing Crosby, I believe.

Which I thought was rather nice, actually.

OK, I'll sort a few bits & bobs, then do the Equal Chance thread, then the DTD-style malarky, the Brian Wilson thing seems to have gone away - didn't the Mods Team handle that one well? - and we can move on.

I had a good afternoon today, and, after much difficulty over several weeks, tied up the Venue for the next Sky Live Day, that was a bit of a nightmare, but it's done & dusted now, so some progress. And good progress with Sky on another matter, more of which soon.

I no longer find comedians do much for me - real life scenarios seem to be so much funnier, richer, deeper. It can be the oddest things, but it's there, for real, right in front of us, all the time.

And sometimes it's just the juxtaposition of words in a single sentence which hits the spot. And it just depends who said it, I suppose.

The following comment was made by a hero of mine, a very senior figure in the poker community for donkey's years, & it seemed so odd coming from him, of all people. We rarely think outside the poker community, & this man is a poker legend in my eyes, so everything about it just rung odd bells. I can't tell you who spoke it, or to whom he referred, and please don't try naming suspects on here, we are in enough trouble already.

It will whoosh almost everyone amongst you, but it had me laughing, splitting my sides, for weeks on end, it's funny on so many levels.

Here goes.......

There was a thread on blonde a few weeks back about Devilfish Gaming, & it's plan to "float" on the London AIM (or similar) Market soon. I can't recall the £numbers, it was a few million I seem to recall.

As you can imagine, it tickled my curiosity, for all manner of reasons. The thread majored on the Devilfish Cardroom, but I imagine that's not half of the story, I expect all sorts of Devilfish "Premium Brand" add-ons will be bundled up & bolted onto the Company to make it a saleable prospect, & good luck to all as far as I am concerned, if he can cash in on his very evident popularity, well played him.

Now, I'm no stranger to Company Accounting, or "Financial Engineering", & I can read a Balance Sheet as well as anyone - you read BETWEEN the lines on Balance Sheets, they are simply a snapshot of a company's Finances at a given moment in time, & they are extremely prone to massaging. Usually done at month or year end in practice, but in theory, it can be at any given time. Which is my way of saying be careful how you interpret the following piece I spotted in the Financial Press yesterday, because I'm quite sure the bleak picture is being painted for good reason. Even so, it intrigued me no end - the Revenue figures are mind-boggling. Though, I stress, figures are meaningless really. Looks like a case of damping down expectations to me, not usually appropriate in a bear market!

LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Plus-listed Devilfish Gaming Plc. said group company Devil Fish Poker Ltd. (DFP) posted a wider pretax loss of 276,980 pounds for the six months to end-December, against 179,485 pounds last year on lower revenues and higher administrative costs.

DFP posted revenues of 7,136 pounds for the period against 9,543 pounds. Administrative expenses rose to 166,450 pounds from 100,229 pounds.

It said it does not expect the company's revenue stream to increase during the six months to end-June 2008, while the devilfishpoker.com website is integrated onto the Entraction gaming platform.

Until such integration takes place the company will remain unable to advertise in the UK due to licence restrictions. However, it said it expects strong growth in the second half of 2008.

By my calculations, blonde must be worth nearly £450, maybe £500, then.

Talking of Devilfish & his marketability, I had this convo last night with a young lad at DTD. I was wearing one of my rather spiffing Sky Poker shirts, proper jobs they are, good quality cotton, sleeves & collar, iron up a treat, & I like them muchly.

So, spotting the Sky Poker Badge, Young Man says.....

"You work for Sky, like?

"Err, well, Sky Poker, yes".

"wot, on the telly & stuff - that interactive thing?"

"Yes, that's the one".

"wow. so you are you really on telly?"

"umm, yes, now & then".

"So have you met Devilfish?"

"Oh yes, lots of times"

"You've  actually MET him?"

"Yes"

"wowwwwwwwwwwwwwww".

Image is a wonderful thing, eh?

"Aunty Martha reckons he's a pedophile"......

The spelling suggests a yank or Iron.
Auntie martha is a fictional person or someone you will never meet (like Arthur Daleys "err indoors") erm that's as far as i get, i'm whooshed.

If it's from an American, then it's one from a southern State.  Northern Yanks don't use the word 'reckon' or 'Aunty' for that matter.
