Do you remember Jake from Gala Nottingham Tony?

He had that fake chip-shove down to a fine art rather like the old Peter Beardsley stepover which I used to liken it to. That was twenty years ago mind you.

I think it's time you did a little ripping..

Think he was the first player I ever saw do it. I've seen it sixty zillion times since, mind.

Ripping is WAY overdue.

It really reminds me of Noel Edmonds, & Gotcha, where the whole "joke" was to embarrass someone. Lovely.

Honestly Teeeks, I'm going to lose all respect for you sometime soon. Gotchas were the best thing on TV.
Embarrassing someone? A well known TV face, who would get endless free publicity for their troubles. Do me a small favour.
All about maintaining perspective really.  Wink

Ha.

Do behave Neil.

"perspective" has certainly been the key word on blonde today, eh?

Saw a kid do it in a GUKPT in Blackpool. Dana was TD and ruled it was forward motion therefore all in.

I bet he didn't do it again any time soon.

Just wandered down the Rio corridor for a wee, I passed Hellmuth who was telling a bad beat story to Hachem & Raymer.

I did my business, then went & got a coffee, & when I returned, Hellmuth was still telling the same story.

And guess what he called me with?

I actually admire him greatly in many ways, but he needs to get real sometimes. This whole pros thing of berating recreationals makes no sense to me at all. These guys are their income.

Anyway, I need to get back to my Stakers Report.

Can we knock the pensioners here?

I have been thinking that I should really have a go at the seniors in the not too distant future.  In my last tournament at the Wynn, two separate pensioners did the "how much is it?" slowroll with aces, and each time they were last to act and clearly facing less than a pot size bet on the flop.  I suppose I should be glad they didn't do the "your in trouble son".  Neither was against me, but I was thinking after that 3 days of watching people limp aces, do this post flop might make me lose the will to live.  I was also previously thinking a bracelet is a bracelet, but now I am not so sure.

I am sure they'd all be doing the fake all in move and various other vintage angle shoots too.  Not sure I can do it, persuade me.

Absolutely.

They are as bad as any at that nonsense. I've seen it so many times this trip.

Truly, I think all ages do it, but yes, the wrinklies are amongst the most regular exponents.

You learn a great deal about people's character at the poker table. When folks do the slow roll thing, I always try to imagine what they are like in real life. What possible pleasure can anyone get from such a thing? Do they really like doing stuff to hurt others?

It really reminds me of Noel Edmonds, & Gotcha, where the whole "joke" was to embarrass someone. Lovely.

I have a strange feeling that Camel will be a Noel Edmonds fan, you know.

I can't believe he dislikes Chris Evans. I mean really, He'll be Sir Chris Evans soon, let's hope.

Anyway, I need to get on with this WSOP Waffley Stakers Report.

I often wonder the same thing about after timers.

Why do they do it?

If someone hasn't backed your winner, why would you want to rub in their faces? If they have backed your winner, they are happy anyway and do not need reminding they've won.

Do they do it to try and look clever? Because they don't they look like egotistical dick.

I can't think of one positive of after timing.

So, after way too long the penny dropped.

I don't have the WORST seat von the Table, I have the BEST seat on the table. I had position on Mr Bully, & I could pick him off at will.

Oh yes.

And at almost the very moment I realised that (which took me way too long to suss), Mr Bully Mark 2 arrived. We will call him Mr Cock, based on his behaviour in an almighty argument that went off a few hours later, in which he offered the whole table a $500 (each) bet. I declined the bet, as I knew he would freeroll us, & not pay, but never did a bloke make such a cock of himself at a poker table. That's another story though. Every player, the Dealer, & THREE Floor Staff all told him he was wrong, so he said "it's not my fault are you all retarded". Lovely job. Incidentally, he lost the bet, & welched on everyone. As expected.

Anyway, here's the thing, he was two seats to the right of Mr Bully, & he played EXACTLY the same style.

So now. Mr Cock was raising every hand, & Mr Bully was re-raising him every hand. As a result, as I was two to the left of Mr Bully, I got frozen out again.

Eventually, Mr Cock & Mr Bully BOTH fold a hand pre, & I had the button, so I had to try & get weighed in & attack Annette's BB. She defended, checked the flop (which I missed), & then check-raised me, showing me middle set. Marv. I might ad that Annette looks just magnificent these days. I've no idea how she became so trim & petite, but she looks fabulous. I invited her on the TV Show, she'd be great, but she rarely gets to London these days, so we'll have to wait & see.

I was loving the game though, & by now, with the field thinning quickly, I began to realise a cash was well within my grasp.

So I just had to sit & wait, whilst the two aggro boys strutted their stuff, there was not much I could do.

Eventually, with some 250 left, my table broke. Shame really.

Surely you just take the bet on condition that the money is deposited with a trusted third party Tony, although this might lead to complications with the stake.

Annoyingly, I lost a decent pot just before the table broke, by failing to c-bet on a bad flop (10-J-Q hhh) & allowing my man to get there, so I was in a bit of trouble now.

The Floor man gave us a tray each - Mr Bully & Mr Cock had THEE trays each, I needed one column of my one rack - and I made my way to my new Table with my mini rack of chips.

Everyone here was well caked up, but it was good to see a friendly face in Kev Allen, & we discussed Mr Dubai for a while.

I did some mental arithmetic, & fancied Day Two & a cash was within range, but eventually I chose to try & play properly.

Think I raised 3 pots in an orbit, & I was sure Kev Allen would defend from his Big, but he just folded. It struck me that, perhaps, he was being kind, or helpful, but I wanted a caller & a chance to double.

And then, of course, 5 hands short of Day Two, I found DS Kings on the Button, walked into Aces of the same 2 suits, & I was left hoping my danglers would perform. The door card was a deuce, which increased my equity considerably, but that was a false hope & it ran out without further drama, & I was a goner.

I was gutted, to be honest, I really wanted that cash, but truth to tell, I don't think I played well enough until it was too late, and I was the architect of my own downfall, a) for not being gambly enough & b) because I took too long to realise that Mr Bully was my passport to a very playable stack.

More follows......

Surely you just take the bet on condition that the money is deposited with a trusted third party Tony, although this might lead to complications with the stake.

It was suggested that a stakeholder be nominated, Ralph, & as I declined the bet, they suggested I hold the stakes, but Mr Cock was not prepared to do that. I had no interest in taking the bet, even though it was $500 for nothing, I wanted nothing to do with the man. I just enjoy, in a perverse way, watching all this stuff go down, but I just don't get involved in this dick swinging stuff these days.

The bet was weird.

It had gone "check check" on the end. Mr Bully tabled his hand, "one pair", Mr Cock said "two pair" & showed the two pair - but threw the other two into the muck. The Dealer caught them as they hit the muck, & turned them over.

Mr Cock now throws a strop, "YOU CANT SHOW MY OTHER TWO CARDS".

Dealer says "you have to show all 4 cards Sir".

Mr Cock was outraged. "I KNOW THE RULES I DONT HAVE TO SHOW ALL 4 CARDS"

It went on for an hour or more, it was hilarious how many different ways Mr Cock used to try & weedle out of the bet.

It was all "Yeah but....."

Eventually the first guy to strike the bet called him a ****ing ****sucker" & got himself a penalty.

The Floor were accused of "knowing **** all", & so was everyone else.

In a way, it was both amusing & sad. Mr Cock claimed to be a full time Online Pro, which seemed believable, he was very good. (At the poker). Just zero social or interactive skills. Made a complete idiot of himself, but genuinely could not see that.

I saw the guy who struck the first bet this morning (the guy who got the penalty) & asked him if Mr Cock paid up. "Nope".

At one stage in the argument, he offered Mr Cock $50 just to stfu, as he was annoying him so much by refusing to pay.

Love live poker, you see it all there.

So that was that, not only $1,500 down the swanee (half of it belonging to others) but I had no excuses at all, & I think I could have done a lot better if I had opened up a lot earlier.

Another day, another lesson, another $1,500.

I wandered back to my room via the Sports Deli - LOVE their burgers - & got my routine two choc ices in the Tat Shop. Think I've had 2 choc ices every single day I've ever been in Vegas. My little bit of luxury.

Ate my burger & choc ices, then I had to turn the Lappie on & sort some stuff Next Door. It's been a stressful week with my work, just awkward stuff, which stresses me more than it should, & I got into a very awkward spot between a Client & The Business. I'm the bridge between the two on their Forum, or supposed to be, but it puts me in some shockingly difficult spots sometimes, & my influence there is declining by the day. Young persons game these days, Business, most of the Staff are less than half my age, & we often seem to think so differently.

Sorted the stuff, which took an hour or so, then looked at BBC News, which I do every night wherever I am. That's the perspective thing, works a treat.

Read my book for an hour, & then slept like a log.

The bust out was forgotten this morning, move on, next case. Until like a dumbass I walked into the Amazon Room to see the Bubble burst inside an hour, & realising I should have cashed if I'd been a bit more adventurous.

At my age, you can learn SO much every day. The trouble is you forget it the same day, too.
