Missed opportunity...

The pink shirt from last year would have beautifully matched with those socks and hat!

Crocks Corner (1)

We seem to have way too many people who are currently unwell.

Trevor, aka Typhoon13

As we have seen, was looking long odds on for Vegas, but he is now likely to be OK.

A close run thing.

Take care Trev, see you in Vegas.

Crocks Corner (2)

Grant, aka Longines

Last time I heard from him he was being lined up for a stent to be fitted, which is an in and out affair these days.

But yesterday, he sent me this note;

Hi Tony,

I ended up having a triple bypass op on Mon 15th. Didn't go quite to plan and they had to reopen me up but 10 days later I'm not doing too bad. Can walk about 300 metres before needing a kip and my wife is waiting on me like a saint.

Probably be a week or two until I'm back reading regularly, happy if you want to post an update.

So that's not good at all.

Best wishes to Grant for a full and speedy recovery.

Crocks Corner (3)

David, aka booder.

Boo has been on the easy list for 3 years now but is going along nicely now for the most part.

However, on Sunday, he was rushed to hospital not once, but twice - 7am & 6pm, on both occasions with severe chest pains.

The quacks could not see any problem though, & the pain passed, so boo is back home now, & fingers crossed, all is well.

Take care David.

Crocks Corner (4)

And finally, me.

I attended my 5th and final Cardiac Rehab on Tuesday, & apart from a final assessment next Thursday, that's me done with them.

My recovery has been very fast. I still have some problems - more mental than physical, I think, with lethargy and chronic fatigue being the bugbears - but that apart, I'm in good nick now.

It's been 74 days since my last cigarette, I did that cold turkey, and at the same time I've been dieting hard, so that has been a challenge. I still miss smoking a lot of the time, but I'll just have to cope.

I have to take a ton of medication - 8 different tablets daily, so I have two "tablet sessions" every day. Bit of a palaver really, but that's for life & ain't ever gonna change until it's all over, so guess I can't complain.

So, after several false starts, Vegas is 100% definitely on, & so I'd best formalise everything, Stakers List, Schedule etc.

2 stakers have already sent me the cash, so I'll regularise that shortly, too.

Now that I have completed my German course chapter on going to the doctor (Der Artz), I can utilise the phrase:

Gute Besserung!

Rather sad, but I actually know what that means.

Now then, here's something I'd like you to try at home.

In the Cardiac Rehab sessions, we did a warm up, a warm down, and sandwiched between those we did a range of exercises of varying severity.

It was in a proper Gym, & we had exercise bikes, rowing machines, treadmills, all that sort of stuff, with 8 different exercises in all.

Easily the hardest - and it is not even close - we ended up giving the nickname of "The Beast".  (I called it "This Is Your Life" as it reminded me of that show, when the subject has to keep standing up and sitting down).

So, those of you brave enough, I want you to try this at home.

Take a regular chair, & place it in the middle of the room.

Now do the exercise below. Your rate should be one complete cycle (stand up, sit down) per second.

Now do that non-stop for 2 minutes, or, if it's easier to keep track, 120 times in 2 minutes.

Off you go then.

PS - Marky147 is excused.
