More good news, this time for the intrepid stakers.
I wrote to Vince (MereNovice) & he has kindly constructed us a Spready, so that automates the process, & everyone will be able to see what's what once I have filled it in.
Filling it in should be a doddle, right?
Here's what Vince, God bless him, wrote. Easy-peasy.
I have created a 2017 version of the spreadsheet. It is here:
http://bit.ly/tikayLV2017
It's very simple and I'm sure that there are lots of people who would be happy to manage it for you or create their own version. I can give update access to the spreadsheet to anyone that you wish.
When I've updated the spreadsheet in recent years, I've copied and pasted your provisional list of tournaments into the "Tournaments" sheet. This can then be used to keep a tally of your entry fees and your returns. This was just to create an auditable list in a single location. It's up to you if you want to do it this way.
The one thing that you do need to update on the "Tournaments" sheet is cell D27 (coloured green) to reflect the total amount that you intend to spend in entry fees.
On the "Investors" sheet enter the sterling/dollar exchange rate (at the time that you decide what rate you will be using) in cell D41 (coloured magenta).
Last year I used the same exchange rate to calculate the returns and I suggest that this would be a reasonable thing to do again this year.
Then for each of your investors, enter them in rows 2 to 31 (or however many there are). Either enter the percentage amount or the sterling or a dollar amount depending on how people have decided to pay you. If you enter the percentage amount in column "C" the spreadsheet will automatically work out the amount due in sterling and the dollar equivalent.
If they are giving you a fixed sterling amount, type it into column "D" directly and, if they are paying you in dollars, type it into column "E" directly. I've previously used column "F" to indicate when you have confirmed that you have received payment from each individual.
The spreadsheet will total the amounts paid.
The amount in cell E36 (coloured light blue) will show you how much you have been pledged (in dollars) in relation to the 50% mark in the cell below it. This will allow you to see how close you are to being "sold out".
Ignore the totals row for columns "C" and "D" for the time being.
So there it is.
I'll fill it in & be right back. If that fails, we'll go the longhand route.

Some firm we could assemble in Vegas... Rattling around the Rio, with enough pills to keep EDC fired up
I can almost stand up like that now, but I fall back pretty quick, as my balance is like it was during most of my 20s. I might manage 12 in 120 seconds, but 120? Good luck!

Timetable;
Fly out,
Friday June 2nd
.
Will be doing tourist stuff with Gill, including the Oregon sleeper train adventure, and Blogging for Next Door, for the first 6 days.
The first poker tournament will be on Thursday June 8th.
So if you could get payments to me before Thursday June 8th, it'd be appreciated.
Exchange rate? Usual drill, nobody should gain or lose either way. I'm planning to get my $$$$'s tomorrow, & will confirm the rate I paid. That will be the buying rate for everyone.

How do you manage travelling with all the medications ?
Do you have to get some kind of letter from your Doctor or do Customs just let you straight through?

I just take mine with me, and get vitamins from the Walgreens when I get there.
