Great link though.
Notice how all the high street shops were independents, not a chain store in sight.
In those days it was a treat to walk around an unfamiliar town centre, nowadays the shops are all the same wherever you go.
Well almost, though not quite.
I spotted Dolcis, & "North Thames Gas".
But the best one was "Percy Dalton's Nuts".
Go to any football match, & there was a bloke with a sort of tray round his neck, selling Percy Dalton's Peanuts. Think they were threepence or a tanner.
Like this bloke, with his bullseye bins.

The couple in the background look as if they are quite perturbed by the contraption pointing in their direction.

Anyone want to guess why the crowd all stood there?
Maybe that jewellers is a pawnbroker & they were all trying to pawn or redeem something?

Definitely Trafalgar Square with The National Gallery in the background.

Hey Tony
Do you ever watch Talonchick's twitch channel? I didn't rate her much before I saw it, but she has game. I have definitely warmed to her. Her kids show up every so often and I think she is a natural for it.
Most of her content is O8, though you'll have to put up with NLO8 too. Monday night is the big PLO8 tourney on stars, so that is your best bet. She usually late regs at 9 or so uk. If she isn't there, you often get Lex instead and he definitely has game.
I think you'll enjoy it. The final table song is bloody awful though, and you have to be ready to switch off some of the songs in the break! Don't let it put you off, would recommend.

Is it the day after the favourite won The Grand National and they're all waiting to get paid out?

Nooooo...... Not Maplin.
I love Maplin, its an institution, like Woolworths or Jessops.
You could always rely on Maplin to stock the stuff that other stockists didn't stock.
Excuse me, do you have a 12 - 19 volt inverter with a detachable four pin plug?
Certainly Sir, what colour would you like?

Yup.
And I think that was the whole point of that particular photograph - feeding the pigeons in Trafalgar Square was one of the iconic London Tourist attractions.
It was not until relatively recently - 1990 maybe? - that Pigeons suddenly became so unpopular, & the world & his wife suddenly started to hate on them. A bye-law was eventually passed banning the feeding of pigeons in Trafalgar Square I seem to recall. Bang out of order really, a genuine case of pigeonism.
And Trafalgar Square would be full of peanut vendors. And guess who supplied the peanuts?
Yup, Pery Dalton.

Off to a football match in the 1950's & there were always plenty of these geezers in the streets outside, selling bags of peanuts.
This, presumably, was at Highbury, before the game against some northern no-hopers. Class is permanent, see?

Tal, look away NOW, though Uncle Ralph might enjoy these, which I chanced upon in (on?) some weird Twitter feed.

Yup, it's all getting very interesting.
Meanwhile, the Sky share price (as in Sky TV, not SB&G) is soaring. Sky still own 20% of SB&G, of course.
