By a bizarre coincidence, given I'd just bust a PLO event, yesterday was the 15th anniversary of my first ever "Live" poker Festival cash, & that was PLO, too.

It was a £100 PLO jobbie at Naps in Sheffield at their Summer Festival.

Do you remember any of these guys?

http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/event.php?a=r&n=1701

Dipak Makawana was known as "The Doc", (he was a GP, locum style I think) played a ton of stuff at Gala Notts, & was a good friend to me. Lovely bloke, with an amazing story of how he first arrived in England at Heathrow with no job, nowhere to live, & precisely £100 in his pocket.

Osman Mustanoglu was a circuit regular, still around I believe, who specialised in PLO.

Chralambos Xanthos - aka Bambos - I've no idea if he is still around. He used to go up to The Vic every day & play cash. When he played MTT's he always put his wife in the same comp, & we used to love being on her table, as she was even nittier than me.

I honestly can't remember any of the others.

I do remember being proper made up at cashing.

In those days, we relied on Poker Europa for results, it was such a big deal to see our name in that.

Poker Europa was owned by Nick Szaramenta & Jon Shoreman as I recall. Nick must be very old now, think his daughter Kate had a spat with Vicky Coren over a tattoo or somesuch. Jon Shoreman is over here in Vegas at present I believe, & he used to - probably still does - play the Mixed Games cash at The Vic. Jon is very cute, as in intelligent, or maybe I mean, you know, sharp. Not a man you want on the other side of the negotiating table, put it that way.

Poker Europa (it closed in 2011) was so weird. Printed in 3 languages, but only one edition, so Page 1 would be in English, Page 2 in Dutch & Page 3 in German, & so on. Bizarre when you think back on it.

Have you not seen The Producers movie Tony?

Best of overdue luck this evening - I'm very confident of at least a two-cup-of-coffee squeeze tomorrow morning.

No, never seen it Ralph. What is the relevance, please?

Before we move on, 2 things.

1) If you have sent me a PM, please be patient, bit of a backlog has built up, but I'll get to them & reply to all of them soonest.

2) Within minutes of yesterday's PLO debacle, 6 different people either sent me a PM, Text or e-mail offering to buy 20% to re-enter.

First up, I'm amazed & astonished at that, but most of all grateful, thank you very much. You must be mad, obv, given how we are doing so far this trip.

I declined for several reasons.

a) I like to mentally prepare for big events, arrive nice & early, calm down, not be rushed or anything, & in this case, going back in instantly would mean I would not feel as comfortable as I'd like. My mind was already all of a tither, busting a WSOP event inside Level 1 does mess with the head a bit. It was a very long & slow walk back up the Rio corridor, I can tell you.

b) With offers of 120% it was gonna get complicated cutting everyone back & leaving a bit for myself, especially at such short notice. Good way for me to make a few bob though.....

c) The main reason though is that the other members of the Staking Team, who may not have been Online, may well have felt short-changed, understandably. Most of my stakers are season ticket holders every year, & I'd not be comfortable with them feeling a bit put out. I could, of course, have just said I'm adding a re-entry to the stake, & maybe dropped something else, but it was all just so short notice, so swerving it was probably best.

Anyway, thank you very much, & I hope that all makes sense.

Yea but how many choc-ices did you quaff?

Ran out of time again, starts at 1pm so plan to leave The Rio at Noon, like to be nice & early. There was a huge queue there the other day, & I get all het up & impatient in queues. The Queen never queues, & that's good enough for me.

Rob - animal - still has no luggage. He took a connecting flight to Gatters from Newquay - he lives in Cornwall - so I guess his luggage got lost in the transfer at Gatters.

Just the 2. No point getting carried away by grief & scoffing 3 or 4.

Double frigging ice cream scandal yet again? Not feeling confident now I'm afraid.

Zero Mostel was a down-at-heel producer who planned to put on the worst show ever - worst script, worst cast, worst everything - and then went on to sell 10% and 20% to several dozen little old ladies whom he had charmed into backing him. Obviously the scam backfired and the show turned into an unlikely smash-hit on Broadway and he uttered the immortal line: "Where did I go right?"

I can't believe that a man who has watched Pulp Fiction dozens of times has never watched a classic such as The Producers.

Morning all.

Yesterday is history, (like our money), today we go again at Venetian, in the $600 PLO8, starting at 1pm Vegas, 9pm UK. I confidently expect to do better than yesterday.

30 minute levels, blinds begin at 50-100, 15,000 starting.

Incidentally, of the $600 entry, $520 goes into the Prize Pool, $55 is entry fee, & $25 goes to Staff, so that, in plain English, is 15% reg fee.

15% sounds exorbitant, but the Venetian events - & those elsewhere with even higher mark-ups (Downtown are mostly well over 20%)  - all seem to be getting decent numbers, so I guess folks are happy with it.

The reg fee is better value if you spread it over a number of hours of entertainment

Another excellent entry in the Rubs Comp, WP WP, keep them coming.

Does LeBron worry about the views of the general public? I dont think so.
