Bumped into another chap too, & we had a sort of "who ate all the pies?" contest.

Think my opponent won that one hands down. Not being rude like, but I can't believe what a chubby little chap he has become.

This is getting messier & messier.

Neil Woodford was, at one time, the darling of UK stock pickers. Now it looks like there may be some skeletons in the Fund's closet.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-50052945

I will come back with more later, but this looks like a classic buy high sell low strategy on the equity stocks.   Stocks and shares wax and wane as time goes on, and growth is very much de riguer right now.  You can never be sure of such things, but history tells us that you don't want to be offloading income shares at a time when they are so out of fashion.

I can undesrtand why Woodford was removed from the equity income fund, as he does seem to have broken the rules of his own fund by holding so many illiquid shares in it, but forced selling of shares seems very off looking from the outside.

Update on Neil Woodford - it's all over now.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-50061968

I wonder how this will pan out now? It all feels a bit odd to me.

Spotted this yesterday, & it got me thinking.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-50041711

I'll admit I've never been a Gazza fanboy, and he was certainly bang out of order & un-necessarily mean & rude.

But "sexual assault"? Seems a bit strong. Must be some law "public nuisance" or whatever for which they can give him a slap on the wrists or even Community Service or somesuch? We know he has had a few mental health & addiction issues, it maybe needs to be seen in that context.

Instead, we have a full-blown trial, jury, the full works, & it's scheduled to last 5 days.

How much public money must all that palaver cost? Bet it's £100,000 if it's a penny (pure guess on my part) by the time the Police time, resource & costs are included, then all the legal fees for solicitors, barristers, & all the legal rigmarole.

For being rude & kissing someone on the lips?

Here he is arriving at Court yesterday.

Good to have you back Sir!!

This is what our society has become now though isn't it? I would guess the money spent on this trial to be in excess of your figure if its over 3 days. What a waste.

And I firmly believe that 90% of our Extinction Rebellion folk, liberal snowflakes and probably Aaron, think this is worthwhile........

Update on this, after day 2 of the trial.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-50056416

In shock news, it seems that Gazza was bladdered.

The lady in question cannot be named, & gives evidence from behind a screen to preserve her identity.

I mean, it's not nice, he was bang out of order, but it all feels a bit OTT to me. A wet smacker on the lips hardly seems like a sexual assault to me. It's surely a public order offence, making a nuisance of himself, hardly worthy of a 5 day Trial & all the cost, resource & rigmarole.

If every unwelcome & uninvited kiss is going to end in a 5 day Trial, God help us.

How can you be sure what he was doing with his hands whilst he was bestowing this sloppy "peck on the lips"?

You appear to be quoting the defence case verbatim.

The allegation is that he had his hands on her face.

He’s a sad case is Gazza, he experienced some serious youthful trauma and was a world class footballer in the wrong era, and the THFC years in a drinking culture really did him no favours. I wonder how he would have fared under SAF who was, at the time, getting rid of the boozers.

Due to how "the system" works, this will need to be fully investigated too.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-50042406

I suppose checks & safeguards are needed, but this one sticks in the throat a little.

In fairness, the various authorities seem to have done a great job of tracking him down.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-36437856

Fair play to them, that's impressive sleuthery.

Full Sutton houses some absolute nutters, this vermin will have been a dead man walking as soon as he arrived there.

Channel 4 did a doc on him the other year (called 'Gap year paedophile' or something), charting his crimes and how he came to be captured and convicted. An interesting watch despite the grim subject matter.

Police to this day still can't fully get into his encrypted laptop, so the real number of victims has been taken with him to his grave.
I doubt many or any tears will be shed at his murder, though I'm sure questions will be asked at the ensuing investigation.

Thanks David.

How are you keeping these days?

This is going to be even more boring than usual, but I rather enjoyed viewing that link as, by chance, we travelled through that Station in February of this year.

We had taken a train up to Norwich, having seen some cheap tickets, £24 return from London I think.

As the train drew into Norwich Station, I suddenly spotted a 3 coach train arriving at another platform with a Class 37 at each end. WTF? A Class 37 is a railway geek's wet dream, & here were TWO of them on one train. These things were built in the early sixties, so are close to 60 years old. They used to be the main line workhorses of British Rail, fabulously powerful, & were nicknamed "tractors" due to their agricultural sound.

I was near wetting myself, & took more photos than enough, but I'll spare you all & just upload 2 of them.

We had to have a closer shufty, & Gill noticed it had come from Gt Yarmouth, & was due to return there shortly. I actually had no idea that Norwich & Gt Yarmouth were so close, the journey time was scheduled as about 45 minutes I think.

So we bought 2 tickets & off we went. It was fabulous, all the better as it was slam-door stock, & we meandered through the countryside, & went through the Station you linked. It's a "request stop" these days, & you have to be in the back or front carriage (depending on direction of travel) if you wish to alight as the platform can only accommodate one carriage.

Eventually, we arrived at Gt Yarmouth, & the train was due to return to Norwich 12 minutes later. So we went & got a coffee in the Station Concourse & jumped straight back on the train. That's all we saw of Gt Yarmouth.

Back at Norwich, we had a few hours to mooch around, but I can only remember very little of Norwich Town Centre.

1) It's extremely old. Apparently the oldest Town Centre in the UK?

2) It's very hilly indeed. I had assumed Norwich would be super flat.

3) The town centre is dominated by a wonderfully preserved & sited Castle, which sits plum on top of a hill right in the middle of town. Extraordinary sight.

We love these little days out, we call them mini-adventures. Yeah, I know, I know.... But we enjoy it, so I can stand the heat.

We are off on another one next week. I dare not even begin to tell what an exciting day is planned & where we plan to go. Living the dream, eh?

Afternoon Rich.

That looks fun, unfortunately it coincides with Next Door's UKOPS, which runs from October 25th to November 3rd, so I'll be pretty busy that week & I especially need to be on hand during the evenings.

It would have been neat to hook up with so many old friends & acquaintances at DTD too.

Thanks for letting me know, it's appreciated.
