Had no idea Men The Master was Men The Cheater till this morning. Every trick in the book it seems.
Play more next year imo and stick with the Bill Maynard look, it works well.
Vegas in the summer is too good to miss. Such a privilege roffling around casinos day in day out playing tournaments with good players. Can't do that in England.
175lb is optimal btw.
I'll be honest, I'm not at all sure about the designer stubble, but I am rather fond of what Tal Bloke described as my "sombre" shirt.

good luck, those pictures of the orleans O8 game make me very nostalgic, maybe next year ill be there.
Hi Simon,
I think Orleans has become easily my favourite Vegas cardroom.
Easy to get to, free & ample car parking, & the room is superbly run & managed. Nice range of food options too. Hard to imagine any UK cardroom having 20 Omaha High Low tables on the go simultaneously.
How is your health these days, you coping OK?
Not great, waiting to go back on transplant list, currently got Covid but coping OK with it
Oh my Lord, that's not good to hear Simon.

When you sit with good players you realise how not good you are ? Well I do anyway
But it’s always good to watch them in the live theatre
Like tikay says every hand is like xmas eve until you open them up and realise it’s Boxing Day
But sitting on them chairs is my pet hate ,my bum hurts my hips hurt my knees start playing up too so uncomfortable
I had a cushion but of course being old n pre Alzheimer’s I walked off n forgot it
Maurice Hawkins was the slickest player I saw in action
Yes, it's a delight to watch good players in action at close quarters, & you can insta spot them.
Maurice Hawkins "slick"? He's certainly that, judging by the stories that regularly circulate as to his financial probity.

Nice feeling to get those mentions, good write ups, thanks for taking the time
Hi Glenda.
I think if folks buy action, it's a 100% obligation to at the very least do a write up, & it makes me cross when they don't. I still buy a little action here & there, but only in people who give me updates or reports. To be fair, mine are pretty lame compared to Stu Rutter who dos THE most wonderful updates, but I assume he is not in Vegas this year.
I did enjoy the mentions, though I'm not quite sure why. I'm at the age where ego & pride have long departed, but for some reason I was pleased to read them. I saw the Poker News writer who did them yesterday & I asked him how he knew me. Turns out he was an avid viewer of the Sky Poker TV Channel & one evening I said some kind words about his play & awarded him a spot prize. We chatted for 5 or 10 minutes yesterday & he's a smashing bloke, been out here updating since the end of May & does not go home for another 10 days.
If it's not too personal a question, how is your health these days? I've seen a fair bit of Chubby Chompy out here, do you two still see plenty of each other?
Health is pretty great, thanks for asking. I was 60 yesterday, not a milestone I thought id chalk up when I was 50. Also, incredibly have still dodged covid despite being a fairly early adopter of normal socialising as soon as it was allowed
Only been to Luton once in the last few years and Chompy goes rarely so i haven't seen him in in age. We're in touch pretty frequently though. Good to hear he's quite fat :-)
Wow, happy birthday for yesterday, & congrats on getting there after it was not looking great 10 years ago. Medical science is simply amazing these days.

I think the best I sat with was Patrik Antonios in his prime. I don't think it was a delight playing him, but he had an aura around him. Steve Sung I remember too, sat on my left in the main event one year. He ended up crippling me as I recall. Erik Seidel seemed really solid when I played him too, dare say he doesn't make many mistakes.
I have sat with Phil Hellmuth a couple of times and he doesn't seem to have much game, though you can't deny his results.
Think I'd go for Joe Hachem as the biggest gap between his ability and how good he thinks he is. Maybe he has realised and given up O8 though, as I didn't see him around this year. Suspect Matusow would be in this camp, though have only heard his tales of woe from nearby tables.

Don't laugh but I honestly saw that pic and was shocked at how decrepit Simon is looking these days.
