... but visually, that mock-Roman Tower may well be the world's tackiest & daftest piece of architecture, I nearly throw up just looking at it.
My opinion is that when taken in isolation almost every
single
thing in Vegas is just wrong.
However, I think the sum total of all these parts creates it's own special type of energy and (something else - but I can't think of the right word) which makes the city as a whole so much more than the sum of its parts.
Having said that the best view in Vegas is still the view of the mountains and not the city though.

Yes, Wynn & Encore apart, I share that view. But it works, & that's what matters, milllions of folk flock here every year.
The Moumtains? Agree again. They sort of surround Vegas, just 10 or 5 miles away, & "Red-Rock" is fairly dramatic. Jim "77Dave" McShane has promised to show me the scenic parts of Vegas next week. I may be gone a while.

From today on, it's non-stop work for 5 days straight, then 2 weks of low-key stuff, & I'll be playing a lot of poker in weeks 2 & 3. There's a lovely 25,000 chip $1,000 jobbie at Caesars on Sunday (a 4 dayer), with Satellites at $200 a pop.
So I took the chance this evening to play the 11pm $120-er at Caesars, before I knuckle down.
The first shock was the "reg fee" reminder. It cost $120 to enter, & the Ticket said $90 Buy-In, & $30 Entry. Yikes. God Bless DTD & Grosvenor! But it's superbly run, starts smack on time, breaks ditto, great Dealers, smartly suited "Floormen" everywhere, not afraid to dish out time-penalties for any malarky. Oh that we could do that in the UK.
There were about 100 runners, with the 3pm & 7pm Deep-Stack Tourneys still in progress, so they had three on the go. The Cash Tables numbered 25 or more, 250 or so in Tourneys, so about 500 in all. And of course that's the great thing about poker - every one of those 500 think they have an edge, & can beat the game. How ludicrous are we?
I got a miracle treble-up early doors. I called a R with
, three handed, and saw a gorgeous
flop - NUTS. First to speak shoves, next to speak shoves, I shove.
Both showed A-J, with one of them holding the
So I just had to dodge a club, but the

Shit - The Rio is on Fire! Just heard a big bang, then lots of sirens, looked out of the window, & the roof of one of the single-storey annexes is well ablaze. No Fire Alarm yet though - I don't fancy running/walking down all those flights of Stairs - I'm on Floor 36!

False alarm. It was not an annexe roof, it was a shuttle bus, it seems to have blown up.

The advance party had dinner tonight at the Voodoo, 10 of us, & it came to an eye-watering $620.
£31 a head is eye-watering?
Do you eat out, ever?
lol i was thinking that, i don't know the last time i went out for dinner for less than £31
You can get a KFC Bucket, feeds 5, for a tenner anywhere. Cant beat it, either, drink included. Not seen a KFC here yet.
As a well-known bird lover do you not have concerns about how those chickens were and are farmed ?
Not to mention the amount of fat and other bad stuff that the meat contains....

The Neon Boneyard Museum in Vegas.

Back to the Tourney, & I played a really very odd hand, for me, I just pretended I was Flushy, Lord Linton, or Thewy.
A geezer had done most of his stack the previous hand, was not quite felted, & had 1,200 left, with Blinds 300-600, & a Running Ante of 75. (10 handed). So I fully expected him to chuck his dust in next hand (my Small Blind) & he duly obliged.
It's Passed to me, & I look at what's in the middle - 10 x 75, 1 x 300, 1 x 600, plus Matey Boys 1,250, so 2,850, & it's 900 to me to Call. I don't want the BB for Company, so I shoved, & BB sighed & Passed, phew. I had 6-2 (I had deiberately not looked, as I'd wimp out if I did). I was assuming I'd be live, as he'd push with any two. He had K-7, & I two-pair on the flop, & that was that. Well, their faces were a picture. The BB - a rather odd female - went apeshit, as she had
& would have flushed it, & she went loopy. She had 17,000 at the time, tilted the lot off in 3 hands, then blamed me for my daft move. She accosted me at the break, "WTF?" sort of thing. No point trying to explain really. She then told me she'd Bubbled earlier in the day in a Super-Sat for some Comp, & that had caused her to burst into tears. I tried soft-soaping her, but she just went on & on, so I asked her why she played poker if it pained her so. She said "what a daft question". Yes, quite.
Anyway, what comes round goes round, & later on, crapshoot-time, I somehow got All-In Pre with A-rubbsh, & called by stubborn J-9, who flopped the straight, & that was that.
The one thing about Vegas is the poker is just superbly run. Almost as good as DTD, in fact.

Great timing, thank you! I wondered what "Neon Boneyard" was - it is one of our Location Shoots on Thursday!

Best I could do - the flash "bounced" against the window.
