I've never been, but this place looks interesting. I love obscure places  Smiley The Neon Boneyard Museum in Vegas.

http://www.neonmuseum.org/

Great timing, thank you! I wondered what "Neon Boneyard" was - it is one of our Location Shoots on Thursday!

LOL was going to suggest its a great location shoot, but your Sky bods must have done a little prepartion. Have fun.

btw keep taking photos, love em.

False alarm. It was not an annexe roof, it was a shuttle bus, it seems to have blown up.

bloody hell - hope not too many people are hurt Shocked

The ambulances have gone now, but there are three of those American "On-The-Spot-TV-News-Vans" still recording it all. I guess it will be on the local news.

The airport is in the distance, but is no more than 2 miles from the Strip, which seems a bit strange.

When the airport was originally built in the 1940s, there was no Strip - it was in the desert five miles out of town. However, Las Vegas expanded towards the airport, hence it seems a bit strange now.

Compare it with London - in the 1940s the main airfield for London was Croydon, which is now completely subsumed within the city. So they built Heathrow, then out in the country, but that's heading the same way as the city grows.

Yes, there has been a mountain of research done for our shoots, & we have some real weird shoots lined up. Including three of the world's top players as you've never seen them before. Well, two, & one who thinks he is.......

Yes, I guess that adds up.

By coincidence, I drove past Croydon Airport on Sunday morning at 6am & made a note to go visit it one day, it's very art-deco, & they have an old BOAC aeroplane still parked outside. Beautiful! This is the best pic I could find. It's on, believe it or not, a road named "Purley Way".

Great photos and a great read, I do notice a lot of dislike for Vegas from some people, to us who've never been it seems a bit strange but I guess you can over do it...

You should check out Shoreham airport if you like your ArtDeco airports:
