Tony, you need to clean your camera lens. either that or mcgrane and goodwin have matching spots on their trousers
they look like those orb things they keep picking up on camera on most haunted. must be a ghost at luton that likes sitting on laps.
ooh yeah, could be. don't clean it Tony, get that bird who used to do Blue Peter to do an exorcism

Lucky? With your Exit-Hand? I'd get it changed. Quick.

I never had better than 9-9 all day, & Passed that to a R & a RR behind.
I missed every flop, Passed every winner, & got pushed about a bit.
I limped with 4-6 on the Button, Tony Ringe Raised it up & I let go. It came 7-5-3, Bet, Call, Call......Then J, ditto.......damn.
I got very lucky against Ray Hamner when I tried it on with A-J against his A-K, & flopped top two.
Then the pivotal hand, in the Blinds with 10-3 off, & it came 3-3-7. To cut the story short, it's checked to the Turn - 5 handed, & I led out 500, only to get re-popped by a shortie, Connor Smyth, who shoved all-in for 2,500. There was a flush draw, & I could not see him with a 3 in his hand round the back, he would not shove on the Turn with a boat, so made the Call, & he had A-3. Bad call really, I'm not beating much.
I bled down to 5,500, then moved Tables, to a real fun Table, including Woodley, Iwan Jones, Jim Read, & Edna. Edna arrived just after me, & three times she shoved for 6k nto an empty Pot!
Then I lost another 1k with the Nines, Passing to a R & RR.
Now Edna does her all-in to a dry pot party trick again, I've got A-K, & though it's the wrong way to play A-K - Calling - I decided with my Stack, and a very tough Table, this was the spot to try & get an easy double-up, she must have a Medium Pair, or A-Q, A-K. It was 9-9, & I never improved.
No excuses, no bad-beats, no complaints. Today, it was not meant to be.

Flushy was up to 30k early, so my L-L with him was soon doomed. But I had my usual £20 L-L with Ariston, & that cashed soon enough. He was up to 35k early, too, but somehow they disappeared.
Jen departed quite early, &, astonishingly, 35 players went in the first two Levels!
Pete Linton got well unlucky to be sucked out with his Aces, but his playing style means nobody ever gives him credit for a big hand.
Iwan Jones was playing awesome poker, as was Ray Hamner, who called every street with T-T on a Board of A-K-J-9-3!
But the pick of the bunch was Jim Read, who was in terrific form.
Amazingly, Luton serial-finalist & Mini-Wernick, Dick Lynch, was first out I think - running Kings into Aces.

I had a long chat with Lord Raab, & the Grosvenor Senior Suit - I can never remember if it's Russell Tamplin or Mike Butlin!
I raised the issue of......
Embedded Reg Fees, a'la the Walsall £200. (£180 + £200).
The thinking is, they trialled it at Bolton, got no objections, & they probably plan to do more of the same, on the grounds that Entry is cheaper. So be it, I suppose, but I did suggest they must be very transparent as to how they describe it in flyers. Them, 1, me, nil.
Clashing Events.
I cited the recent Walsall, Blackpool, Luton clash, & he assured me that in 2009, there will be Central Control of these things, to better "mesh" Events, & avoid these daft clashes.
I must say, this week at Luton has been a splendid success, with big fields every day, a great atmo, good Dealing standards (mostly), & well managed. Well done all.

As long as the deduction is fixed at 5.666% I don't see that there will be any harm.

Pre-Comp, Mr Geordie Accent TD drones on for 5 minutes, flat & monotone, (he should never be allowed near a microphone, poor chap!) all the GUKPT "Local" Rules, incuding "phones may not be used at the Table, your hand will be dead if you do".
Level Two, some Geezer is nattering away on his Moby as Cards are dealt, he's UTG, first to speak, & throws in a Raise to 525. Everyone Passes.
I ask Dealer, "hey, can he do that?"
"Do what?"
"Play the hand whilst on the 'phone".
"Yes, Action had taken place"........(what?!)
"But, err, it was HIS Action".
"It's allowed"
"I don't think it is if he's on the 'phone"
"He can use the 'phone until the Flop is dealt". (!!!).
As I said yesterday, the Dealing Standard was excellent. Mostly. Unlike the standard of my play yesterday. Which was poor. Mostly.

Yes, Simon Galloway sent that to me a week or two back - VERY tempting. Am trying to tease Red, Methusalah, Chili, Compo etc with it, too. I may be busy in Dublin for a week at the Sky Poker Darts immediatly prior to the Caesars dates, but if I can juggle the Diary, I'm seriously tempted. I'm quite sure several of the Luton Leg-Ends are interested, too.
For those wondering what the fuss is about, look at this beauty, at Caesars in October,......I'm not fussed about the $10,000-er, but the rest look superb. (C & P from Cardplayer, all Rights reserved, da de da).
