For Tonji especially, who I know enjoys pictures from bygone days, you really should take a look at the pics in "thetimesonline". Go to "picture galleries", then "Historic Pictures from The Times archive".
Here's a few I particularly enjoyed.
This one is in London, 1949 I think.
lol, I'm constantly using their archives for research.
Years ago (in olden days) pre digital, the greatest place was the Hulton Picture Library, a vast warehouse, with miles of carefully filed & catalogued photographs, now bought by Getty Images.

I now work alot with the Photographers & Archives at Magnum,
www.magnumphotos.com
Incidentally Tikay, both yourself & Red-Dog are doing a great job with your photographs documenting your lives. Todays photographs are tomorrows documents of our lives, it completes the picture if you see what I mean.

I love the stovepipe hats the two men are wearing in that.

Thinly veiled 'if anyone is struggling with what to get me for Christmas' post imo.

In the Gypsy photograph, it looks like they've just arrived to me. There's no fire-ring, the drawbar is down, & there's no steps leading into the Caravan. Probably on land they expect to be moved off shortly.
Amazing what you can learn by observation.
