Interesting.
So how do they do flights to Dublin for £4? That's total including taxes etc.
148 people x £4 = £600. Surely it costs more than that to get the plane there?
Anyone know how much airlines pay for their fuel? I saw a program ages ago where they were re-fuelling a cargo carrier ship. Something silly like 1.6 million litres of diesel went in. Cost them about £100k. Ridic cheap. Tax free fuel ftw.
Many will pay for 'extras' such as hold luggage, speedy boarding, reserved seats, etc. I guess. Also, as the date of the flight approaches don't the prices go up, especially if the flight is filling up?

I've always wondered what the idea is behind the ridiculously cheap flights then some more expensive. I guess it gets people looking at their site hoping for a bargain so it's good advertising.
I do find it annoying though that the day I want to go somewhere always seems more expensive.
I've just booked a return from Marbella on Sunday 26th for about £50. Exactly 7 days later, same times and everything the same flight is £17. I almost feel ripped off although obviously £50 is still a bargain.

Last night I found out a fascinating fact: Harold Jonathan Esmond Vere Harmsworth, 4th Viscount Rothermere is registered as a "non-dom" in the UK. He is registered as a resident of France, allowing him to pay tax in that country.
He is the chairman of Daily Mail and General Trust plc.
The chairman of the Daily Mail is a tax dodger. Something that is sure to incite righteous indignation in every Daily Mail reader.

I'd hoped to keep the Diary up to date whilst in Vegas, but I just never had the time, we were incredibly busy. To be fair, I was being paid by Sky Poker to do a job out there, & I was determined to do it well. And I did. We filmed over 100 pieces which all went up within hours, over 30 In-Depth Interviews (James Hartigan did most of them), & I penned some 20 Blogs, averaging 1.5 per day. Our Players exceeded all expectations, too, with 2 nice results from 5 players, & a great Team Spirit from all of them.
I had started the WSOP Info thread before I went, & that took an hour a day, & I was determined not to let it lapse.
The daily schedule was pretty constant. I'd go to the Media Centre at 0730 & do the WSOP Thread, this was "non-Sky" work, so it seemed right to do it before Sky work commenced for the day at 0930. We had a Daily Breakfast Meet, to agree the Day's Schedule, though I started swerving it after the first week, due to time pressures. From 10.30am through to just after Midnight, we did all sorts, then I'd pen the last Blog of the Day, with bedtime usually about 3am.
We reflect on what we do over time, & the view hardens. I'm already of the mind that I loved every minute, & did the best job I possibly could, & most importantly, I came home with that lovely sense of satisfaction you get after doing a job well. It's not smug, it's just that feeling you get after working hard, & well.
It's priceless.
My health remains very good, though I suffered badly from foot blisters in Vegas, from all that corridor walking. I blame the trainers, a pair of Oxford brogues would have been better. I have incredible energy for one of my age, I think it's a combo of enthusiasm & adrenelin.
I've struggled to sleep properly since I got home but last night, at last, I slept well. I've taken a day off today, to recharge my batteries, & as I'm working 7 days in the next 9.
I've had to miss APAT Edinburgh, sigh, but can't be helped, as I'm working tomorrow, at The Vic. I was invited to Norman & Bev's big home game tonight, everyone will be there, but I just can't manage it, I just gotta rest today, it makes no sense to have another late night, with a 14 hour day in prospect tomorrow. I sent a donation to the Charity, though.
Life is so good, if only I were a little younger, & there were more miles ahead than there are. Still, I'll use what's left wisely. Not.
