1 in 4 apparently.

Everyone where I am knew what they were...

Everyone here knew what they were too (all men).  The 1 in 4 refers to the number of women who will need them, rather than those that know about them.

Do you guys spend your life in front of TV sets?

Ever thought of reading books, or learning about alternative broswers?

The 1 in 4 stat was from a company I was working with helping them with their website.

Genuinely interested in an expansion of your view.

I probably haven't read enough background info but what is it about Afghanistan that makes it supportable ? I struggle to see how it is justifiable or distinguishable from the Iraqi situation.

IMO, Afghanistan was a haven for terrorism that was clearly spreading to the west. (In the same way that the mountain regions of Pakistan are). The Taliban were actively encouraging terrorist training camps (or at least actively refused to deal with the issue)  and that meant that there was a direct threat to the west coming from that country. That needed to be dealt with after the attacks on september the 11th.

Iraq was invaded because Bush and Blair were embarrassed by Saddam Hussain. Everybody with half a brain, or just listening to the people that had experience working in Iraq (Mr Blitz and mainly Scott Ritter) already knew that there was no justification (WMDs etc.) for invading Iraq but that that was an invasion of opportunity.

So you don't think that the fact that 90% of the world's heroin comes from Afghanistan has anything to do with it ?

Of course it does, and it's a nice secondary reason but that's not a reason not to support the war.

The 9/11 bombers were Saudi's they weren't from Afghanistan and it's not at all clear they were trained there either.  The 7/7 bombers here were from Leeds.  You don't need to train in Afghanistan to become a terrorist.  Just need access to the internet really.  As for heroine, almost all the poppy harvesting had been destroyed when the Taliban were in power.  Almost all of the Government's arguments for this occupation fall flat on their faces when they're he;d up to any serious scrutiny. Miliband's absurd justifications for being there are appallingly tenuous.  We're wasting the lives of our soldier and every time one of them comes home in a coffin we get closer to a total the Government knows the public will not accept and they'll start to talk about withdrawing without actually saying they're withdrawing.  They've already started to actually with that nonsense speech Miliband gave about opening a dialogue with the less extreme wing of the Taliban.  If that's not a contradiction in terms and concession that they know they fucked up at playing Winston Churchill I don't know what it.

Yes the 9-11 bombers were from Saudi Arabia, however they were trained in Pakistan and Afghanistan. The Taliban more than condoned that, they actively supported it. That's why Afghanistan was targetted and the Taliban removed from power. Again, obviously Pakistan's area shoudl also be dealt with.

I won't stand up for David Milliband, or anyone in this government for that matter, as I do think he is very very wrong on this one.

If the book is good enough, it can be read in a day.  And movies are never as good as their book version.

Sorry Laxie - in this instance your opinion doesn't count - you live in a country where they don't advertise anything that has anything to do with anything below the waist unless it's shoes. You would not be expected to know.

In Luton yesterday, an individual  - Banned from blonde a while back - made himself known to me, & then spouted off the biggest load of drivel I've never heard the life of since I was in Primary School. He was really quite "cross" with me, shall we say, & I later discovered he'd Posted this nonsense all pover another Forum.

But at least I know how he got his online alias now.

lol - there's plenty of time for both, you just need good time management skills.

Only needing a few hours sleep a night helps as well.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, clearly.

At 50-100, it went 300, Call, Call, Call, Call, Call, Call, Call, Call, & then you,. in the BB, FLAT-CALLED with Jacks.*

* Some of this may not be true.
