Sunday Times still rolls out "Insight" as and when warrented, although it appears within one of the sections rather than being stand-alone.

Ahh, thanks. The last time I got the Sunday Times it had SEVENTEEN supplements. I can't be doing with that, so I don't bother now.

tikay; re: watergate. did you ever see the frost / nixon interviews?
I've only seen them in the recent film of the same name. I've got no idea how accurate the film was, but it certainly brought across how vain Nixon was, which ultimatley was he undoing in the interview.

Steve! How are you man? Are your legs still really really short?
Yes, I saw the original, "real" Frost/Nixon Interviews, but the recent film was dumbed-down tosh, & bore no resemblance to the actuality.
It was his vanity - in insisting upon having a voice-recording system in the Oval Office - "to record my words for posterirty" ( how much did THAT come back toi bite him?) which bought about his thoroughly deserved come-uppance, aloing with his entire corrupt Government, of whom only John Dean had a shred of honesty.
A truly epic story.
Keep in touch Steve - let's play some poker.

Good shout, & a great story, but does not make my list, not enough depth. I'd quite forgotten it, actually.

Dunblane was a chiller...and Andrew Murray surviving to become britains best tennis player since Fred Perry... British Tennis history held in the balance by a madmans aim...

It's not a train, to be fair. I'm surprised the Paddington rail crash wasn't in any of the lists.

I sort of guessed that the film would have "hollywooded" it up. I still thought it was a good film though. I didn't get to see the actual interviews,I'm too young you see?
All is good with me, the legs are still short but I'm still hoping I'll have a growth spurt someday! I'm playing plenty of golf & I have a lovely "golfer's tan" (brown face, v-neck, lower arms & legs & lots of white bits in-between!).
You'll have to come over & play at Hampton Court Palace GC, youll love the wildlife & the deer will be in rutting season soon! If I can work out how to post pics & I'll put a couple up for you.
Hopefully I'll get to play some more live poker soon, maybe at Luton or DTD, so maybe see you there?. I'm even thinking of playing in one of the WSOP Circuit events in Louisville in October!

I just remembered another, reminded by Donk's Concorde Post - Lockerbie.
I was in Kenya when that went down, & I'd flown there on a "Safari Airways" 707, painted in zebra-esque stripes, ffs.
On the way back, it had to land at Basle, technical problems, & I got rubber-gloved by Customs, after I'd said my Ciggies were within EEC allowance. It would seem Switzerland was not in the EEC though, my bad.
The Lockerbie thing really scared me, to be honest.
I went & visited Lockerbie recently - very non-descript, not at all what I had expected, & it's in that very bland part of Scotland.

I never forgot that! But on balance, no, not Top 10 material.
Actuallly, it's another in the same category as 9/11, Hillsborough & Gerry Adams - it's one of those subjects that it's very hard to have a good debate about, as folks get so personal, & emotional, & it gets aggro very quickly.
The Official Inquiry blamed Network Rail, they got a huge fine from the HSE too, "institutionallly incompetent", but that was nonsense. A very bad do, all round, way too many died un-necessarily.
The crash took place very close to OOC Shed, where my Dad was based all his life.

hope this works ok & you like the pics. The deer roam freely around the park / golf course & are often grazing on the fairways & rough, around the greens and even plod through the bunkers and they don't repair their footprints!

Not sure if anybody has mentioned Hungerford. That was a big story from my schooldays. Some crazy guy who just decided to go on the rampage in 1987 shooting 14 random people. I remember being very paranoid for weeks after that; everyone was a potential nutter when I was walking to school!
