A quick "get well soon" message for Iron, who's very out of sorts right now.

In the baddest of bad beats, he has a friction burn near the top of his back, caused by his upper back rubbing against the wheelchair. Baddest of bad beats? The "burn" is on the one, & small, part of his back where he actually has feeling. Now that's a beat.

We spoke at length over the weekend, & we've come up with some Heath Robinson ideas to insulate his back from the chair, & I discussed it with Red later, who also suggested some ways in which to alleviate the problem.

Every bump, every little action in the moving whweelchair, feels like someone holding a burning match to the affected part of his back.

He's as down as I've ever known him, very low indeed, & as you know, generally, he's incredibly stoic about his health issues.

Good vibes sent to Iron, get well soon bud.

We had an exchange of words over the weekend when I thought Ironside overreacted a little towards one of my posts.

I now understand why he was a bit snappy and wish him well too.

Get well soon Iron. I could sense he was out of sorts, but didn't know why.

Hi Tikay,

Random question - does the name Amar Morjaria, sometimes known as Figo ring any bells?

Only vaguely, & for the oddest of reasons. We shared a Table - he busted me in fact, when I was just in the money in a £1k Event at The Vic a good few years ago. It was probably the last Tourney I ever played at The Vic, as they changed the structure twice during the Tourney, but the real reason I recall it was because Jim Britton Finalled (a real rarity)  -  but not before he'd mortally offended (via some most indelicate speech-play) that most un-offendable of players, Ross Boatman.

John Gale, Mickey Wernick & Stu Nash all Finalled, too.

Why do you ask?

Well I was not aware of that, but it's fair to say, he is in a lot of pain, & cannot find a way to stop the problem, & it's really troubling him.

He can be an obdurate bugger when he wants, but this is different, & the problem is that every single movement of his wheelchair aggravates the problem.

So yes, it's probable, & understandable, that his grumpy-meter is approaching tikay levels.

He won that event when he was 19 and when I mentioned blonde to him he mentions that he always talks to you and that you said you thought he was a terrific player and that he should play more events on the circuit.

He does talk a lot of S though.

Tikay also said the Sicilian was among the top 5 players in Luton...
