We all aspire to different things in life.
One of my goals in life was to have met all of my financial liabilities in life responsibly.
28 years = 336 monthly payments, every one of which was paid on time. That's a great feeling.
No Bad Debts, in Corporate Life, or privately, ever, either, I've paid all my dues. (So far).
Pardon the chirp, but that's a huge "tick" in my life's tickbox.
On the downside, it's another milestone in my life which has now been passed. Go to school, go to work, get a mortgage, retire from work, mortgage paid off. The next milestone in that sequence is a bit of a worrying one.....

Just a bit!
He took out his mortgage 20 years after I took out mine, his was 20 times bigger & he paid his off 3 years ago. He is truly the Nuts.
It's the difference between a dancer & a grinder. We both reach the same destination, we just take different routes. His was a bit shorter.......

You must excuse this B-52 geekness, but they really do have wowage.
Doing a bit of research on them, I came across this photograph.
These are B-52's in "storage" at "Boneyard", a desert facility where the USAF stores aircraft, in case, I guess, they ever need them.
I'd like to take the one in the middle out for a test drive please Mr Salesman.

They should have parked the b-52's a little neater.
My educated guess as to the revving before turning the engine off in your car is that it burns off any unused fuel. If the car is running fairly cold its running a bit richer than normal or at least doesnt burn as efficiently. I dont know why you would do it if the car was well warm but maybe you just picked it up as a habit.
I have to do it in my current car still when cold otherwise the it will be flooded and wont start see. Its not overly uncommon in a lot of smaller cars and i just think mine is just a bit eccentric.
I was going to say something else with this but i have forgotten. Im sure some of you young lads could let me know on that one.

i don't think you should do this revving thing if your car has a turbo, when you turn the engine off the oil supply stops before the turbo stops spinning, this used to be the case anyway, might not be a problem on modern prestigious german engineered diesel engines

Right then. A couple of questions from an aircraft idiot both concerning the B52.
Firstly can it actually take off and land from that aircraft carrier? I know it looks ridiculously impossible but they obviously got it on there somehow.
If it doesn't take off and land from there how the f**k did they get it on there.
Question 1 obviously assumes that Tikay wasn't levelling with his "not photoshop" comment.
Secondly how big is it compared to a 747? I've seen one of them in real life so I could get an idea of scale if I knew this.
Cheers

Here is what the Website said......
While this may look like a gag shot, it is actually a “transport of a transport” necessity. The B-52 was in Beirut, Lebanon undergoing routine fuel tank cleaning. Workmen accidentally damaged the bladder system and had to install the bladders from smaller C-130s temporarily. The plane was flown to nearby McCollough Air Base where it was lifted upon a barge bound for Tyre on the Mediterranean. Once there it was off-loaded onto the carrier deck for transport to Crete where the appropriate tank bladders were installed. It was then flown back to Beirut
However, following that Blog entry, there were a whole series of comments from Navy &/or Aircraft Geeks who blew holes in the story.
I now think it was indeed Photo-Shopped.
Here is the Website.

Good luck trying to find a balance point on that thing.
Crane seems obvious but that's still one hell of a crane. Also how do you get a crane big enough out to the aircraft carrier?
I wonder if they had to do it in a dry dock where they have those ridic huge cranes?

I don't know the military or aeronautic arguments, but I would have thought it was photoshopped because if it was for transportation purposes - you wouldn't also have so many of the other planes on the deck, would you?
