Would you never think just to go on the drink for the day, serious question
Edit just remember reading the other day you don't really drink, but you did say it's a democracy.Do you not like pubs ?
LOL.,i don't mean just to get pissed.Sitting in a bar talking and catching up with friends can be just as interesting as going to a museum and such
I'm not very good at pub-talk type social interaction, I need to be DOING things, so no.
I'm also a bit screwed up about what alcohol does to otherwise decent folks, & the effect they in turn have on those around them.
I used to drink - a lot - but when I realised what a complete cock I used to make of myself, & how my dumb, ill-mannered alcohol-induced behaviour affected others, I quit drinking. On my 21st birthday, actually.
I never want another hangover like that. To suffer those sort of hangovers regularly, suggests to me either a love of pain & hurt, or "in denial" alcoholism.
Quitting drinking was one of the best decisions I ever made. To be fair, the list is small.....

I just spent 4 days watching poker, talking about poker, making TV Shows about poker, commentating on poker, & yet I've not touched a single card, or played one hand.
So I was gagging to play tonight, & I thought I'd trundle down to Luton.
It transpires it's a £20 rebuy, with £5.75 juice (that's nearly 29%) - & it's self-deal. Got 14 runners last week, & the Final started during the Rebuy period.
Think I'll pass on that.
I want to hire a big bus, & get every Cardroom Suprervisor in it, & take them to DTD. "Look, THIS is how to fill a Cardroom boys". It's not THAT difficult.

I agree on the excessive drinking making good people knobs,i include myself in that when i drink spirits so have stopped since what's the point.I doubt i'll stop drinking in the near future as i enjoy the social aspect of it in my life.
My point was more so, that when you go to places like mentioned above obviously more time will be spent discussing "that lovely train"
or summit like that instead of just having a chat. But if that's not your thing then fair enough.
21 is a really young age to stop drinking when you had started. If it made you happier though then great it wouldn't me so i don't see that ever happening.
The one thing that bothers me most with how much i drink is its stopping me spending more time playing/trying to improve at poker.I may re-asses the situation as far as that's concerned see what happens.
Anyway i've rambled enough, have a fun day out

A quiet start to this week, just blogging & Forum stuff, elsewhere, & playing Online Monday & Tuesday evening. I'll drive down to London on Tuesday, as I have an early start on Wednesday, & I can't be doing with rush-hour traffic.
Wednesday I'm in the Studio all day, being "the stooge" in some screen-tests for female TV Presenters. A whole day on the casting couch, who'd have thought? I so love the variety of "work" they give me, no two days the same. I'm the PTP-er that night, too. A double-gig is always welcome.
Friday I'm attending a photo-shoot, ready for some Autumn & Winter Promotional stuff
. Been sent a whole list of required poses, including one thats really taxing me, "anticipation". In a head & shoulders photograph, how do you express anticipation?
The Live Show on Saturday, then a post-midnight poodle down what will be, I hope, a deserted M4, for In-Poker at the Cardiff GUKPT on Sunday.
Life is good. When I'm not grumpy.
C & A?
Lol, no, booder & his cardigan got that gig.
It's for Sky Poker, so you will be able to see my face more often. Lynam is getting worried now.
This is good news.Thoroughly enjoy your witty banter on SP.
Oh god does this mean more orford to?
On a more serious note, having read this excellent thread,i dont know how you do it posting on here, posting over there, doing the show, running here there and everywhere!!
With the stamina you've got you must be a great lover!
You certainly get my admiration, you bring joy and laughter to many.
Long may it continue.

Why do you think it is that so many local cardrooms are sooooooo bad when there's clearly demand for good poker tournaments up and down the country.Out of the 3 casino's in newcastle the smallest "name" casino is by far run the best.I hardly ever play live because it's run so bad, last time i did i played at aspers and there was a young lad playing it was clearly his 1st time live and within 5/10 minutes the td asked him to move to another table as he was next bb. The lad looked pretty confused and wasn't sure what to do so just looked at him so the td said very aggresiively "what am a speaking french shift other to the other table" nice way to go on with paying customers I said to the rest of the table he was out of order which he heard so i just stared at him was expecting to get barred lol i hear people have for less, doubt i'll go back

This is the sort of thing that worries me about playing live for the first time.
I'm itching to play live for the first time but would hate for a bad experience to spoil my enjoyment of a game i love.

I went to Walsall yesterday to play in the £200 but decided against it when it transpired the tournament was going to kick off at the final table. One table! My better half went to play the sat for this event the day before but soon realised she was the only one present. I remember 5 or 6 years ago when the monthly £300 at Walsall filled the cardroom and the atmosphere was electric.

Pretty sure this is just a one off from a td whose an ahole in a casino that doesn't care about tournament poker.Don't worry about playing live most people are friendly and helpful and generally in a self dealt game someone offers to deal as it speeds the game up.Basically go out a do it mate you'll love it

Mick McCool's blog is back, & as usual, it's one of those reads where you never quite know what to expect. It's like the first bend of a F1 race, you half expect a car crash, & are almost disappointed if you don't.
It's jaw-dropping stuff, where Mick holds his hands up to some past misdemeanours, a lot of self-deprecatory stuff, & almost no attacks on others - Neil Channing apart. There's a bit of history there, & Neil can look after himself, so I guess that'll be OK, though Neil is much brighter than he looks & sounds, and is probably not an opponent I'd deliberately target.
Well worth a read though, all of it.
I get a mention, but for once it's not a personal attrack, just a passing, & not at all offensive, comment on the trip the old fogeys had to Duxford.
One thing did touch a nerve with me though, & for once, it was not Mick who I was at odds with. Mick wrote.....
At the start of the interview all my chat strategy and plans of not sticking my hoof in my big gob went down the pan, as l was forced to talk about my exclusion from Dusk Till Dawn, again! After a few minutes blubbering about DTD and Casino Juice, l had a bit of a handbag session about Channing's Audio Biography
I have to say, I thought Jesse was a bit out of order there, though I do understand that sensationalism is the fashion these days, & if Jesse could goad Mick into saying something less than pleasant, it'd be good for the Poker Show.
So I suppose it was inevitable, but I really did think it was wrong. I like Eddie very much - admiration & respect in big dollops - & I get along splendidly with Jesse, & have done for years.
I was so miffed by this, I decided to write to Eddie & air my view, but then decided it was probz best not to, as it's so hard to accurately convey one's precise feelings & points in writing, & I'd mess up. Being as sharp as a tack, he'd probably invite me on, & I'd walk into the same trap, too*.
Hard to imagine me defending Mick McCool, too!, but you know what I mean, there was no need to pour more petrol on the McCool-DTD fire, & goading Mick that way was a bit out of order imo. I guess controversy is the current fashion, but that was like a red rag to a McCool bull.
Anyway, I'll chat it through with Eddie when I next see him I think, & no doubt he'll rip me to shreds, but it won't harm our relationship, he's brighter than that. An unequal battle, that one, I prefer to take on lesser mortals if I'm forced to fight. Weird, me.
* In fact, for commercial reasons, I probably could not be a Guest on that Show. That's my excuse, anyway......

Just turn up at a venue where there are one or two experienced blondes playing. I'm sure they (or I) would be happy to chaperone you.
