Behave.
My weekly wage was a Tenner then.
I was an Indentured Apprentice, & this guy poached me. "What are your dreams Tony?".
I'm thinking like £12 pounds 10 shillings a week.
"Come & work for me, & I guarantee you, within 5 years, you'll be on a minumum - MINIMUM - of £1,000 per year".
He got his man, that deal lasted 19 years, & what a story that was, with the most amazing ending.
When it ended - very suddenly- I was penniless, car-less, homeless, & jobless.
And so began another even more amazing chapter.
I so wish I had time to commit all this stuff to paper, just for my own benefit really.
My childhood would be a book in itself, & I don't say that lightly.
Most of the boxes are ticked now, even the mortgage is paid off. Bit sad, in some ways, very satisfying in others.

Kendall worked as an apprentice building merchant, but was given a break by John Kirkland, who allowed him to set up a company. The company went on to make a turnover of £53,000,000 per annum, allowing Kendall to retire early and concentrate on poker.
Sir John "never in debt quality bloke" Kirkland came in after the 19 years not when you were an apprentice?

I just had THE most amazing PM.
It's from a regular blonde, who, like me, stuttered as a kid. And for whom, like me, the stuttering stopped overnight almost.
But he's drawn the most extraordnary parallels between us, all of which stretch back to this stuttering thing.
We can have no idea how it affects our mental make up as we become adults, but he's hit like 6 out of 6 nerves, & he's spot-on for every one.
Our whole life is based upon what happens in our childhood. Certainly, I can nowadays link all of my oddities to my childhood in some way.
With the general standard of parenting & education dropping so rapidly, there'll be a lot of weirdo adults soon.

100%. I've been undergoing a lot of analysis lately and, moreso than young childhood, I'd say pretty much most of my own oddities are probably linked to events from adolesence. I can't remember much of what I did when I studied bio-psychology, but I'd imagine that's a key time for pathways forming up in the old grey matter, and once they have, it's a hard job to do anything about it. I'm going to read up on it now, in fact, and will probs be back in a bit to confirm that my theory is a load of rubbish

Lol, yes - you need to do your sums! How old did you think I was?
I was poached away from my apprenteship at the age of about 19, & was with those people for about 18 years. When it went tits up, & I found myself, one bright morning, jobless, penniless, carless, & homeless.
And that was the morning I got the phone call from John Kirkland, who'd heard the news.
In short, it went "come & work for me".
"No, I need a bit of a break, it's been stressfull, my Dad died recently, I was all burned out, I need to chill for a few years, there is no way on God's earth that I'll be starting work again for a long time yet".
"Think about it then".
"OK. Oh, Wait a minute, I'm homeless, carless, da de da, I'll take the job, when can I start?".
I started there & then, we agreed a 6 month trial, - instantly, & I was there for......well, you work it out, I'm not gonna reveal my age again, I did that last week!
"About 20 years" with JNK, will that do?
I never forget walking into his office that morning, talk about a bad start.
John Kirkland had led a "full life", & looked old. VERY old. Hid nick was Yoda. He was VERY sensistive about looking so old, & had a bunch of facelifts which all went wrong & made him look even older.
I'd known him a bit for years, but not much.
I knew his son, Robert, MUCH better, interacted & done business with him daily for a long time. Robert looked 20 years younger, still does.
John asked a few questions, I was very nervous. I said......
"John why not speak to your Son, he knows me well, & use that as a reference".
"My son? I don't have a son".
"Eh? Robert - your son?".
"Robert is my brother".
"Ahh. I'm sorry.".
"And your flies are undone Tony".
"Ooh, thank you".

+1
I've done a lot of self analysis these past few months.
And certain things that happened in my childhood have certainly shaped the way i am now.
My insecurity around new people which has has held me back for so long is certainly one.
I'm absolutely fascinated by psychology and criminology so much so that i'm going to be starting a degree in the subjects next February which whilst being hard will enable me to help people like myself in the future.
No longer will i be held back by this affliction.

So it's OK to be rude to people then, perfect strangers some of them, because we, & they, are adults?
Not to their faces, like, that would be bang out of order of course.

So we can & should automatically diss them, when we don't even know them, almost because we don't know them, because they are not in our little gang?
I think not.

We were always taught to respect everyone, (until given good reason not to) My dad would have gone barmy if he caught us being disrespectful.

I think not.
