Geezer joins the Table late on, I saw him clocking me, then he said "I know you". I was struggling to place him - there's a thing - but for some reason, I did my Dad's old trick, & just decided to call him "Sid". And as spooky as it gets,
(maybe only Tank will get this)
, but he turned out to be Damon, he of Cincins!
Only because the rest of Glasgow is banned already.

I wish I could Claire, I've not had the best of days, & a spot of Live Poker would have gone down a treat.
But I committed to something less than an hour ago, so I can't backtrack on it now.
I blame you for not asking earlier.

Yes, he seemed OK. Scottish, mind, but quite normal.
Geo the Sarge was there too, but the pink sweater was missing.

In the Glasgow Event - the SPT one on the Saturday - one "Boba-Fett" (Paul McTaggart) Finalled. He Finalled as HUGE Chip-Leader in fact, but it all went pete tong, & he was, unbelievably, first out, which pleased him no end. But he still gave us a TV Interview, & in good heart.
In fact, he & I exchanged a series of notes on another matter this week, (he writes beautifully, very gramatically correct), all cooey-wooey. Lovely lads them Glasgow boys, I won't hear a word said against them.
I actually started my intro to the assembled Tourney with "first up, my Congrats for their splendid achievements in the SPL this season to Celtic", which went down well. I think I get away with murder sometimes. It's just the one time it goes wrong that is the worry.
There was another guy in the Final, also a Glaswegian, called "Fernsie", too, but with my eyes being bad, I thought it said "Fergus". One day it will happen, & I bet he'll be as nice as pie to me. They always are.
We even had a guy there from the Shetlands. Jeez, now that's dedication.

I dealt a last minute live sat in Glasgow with Boba to my right (didn't realise it was Boba until half way through!), which he won to get into the event
To be fair, and we've had our disagreements over the years, he's a nice guy. Perhaps if we shut down the Sports board things would be simpler!

Considering how low his stock was with the gutteral media after his defeat in 1997, & that iconic "is this the end of the Tories"?" question from Paxman, how well has Michael Portillo done to re-invent himself as a warm, generous, witty & extremely talented pundit on a whole range of subjects?
He does a TV Show, too, with a female co-guest, & they are just perfect.
He has two weird middle names - "Denzil Xavier" & he really is an interesting character, with a stunning intellect.
I bet he never engaged the odious Clifford to repair his image, though.
Michael must be absolutely minting it, he appears on everything, with, one imagines, a nice flat fee running into 4 figures for every piece.
Good luck to him, I love to see people who have encountred rocky spells in life, re-build themselves so successfully. I used to dislike him immensely, but I've flipped the other way now. Fortunately, I don't do politics, so I can use both eyes & both ears.

norrrrrrrrrrrrr, banter between celtic and rangers fans is good for blonde. Was sat with boba to my right and bandit to my left in a cash game and even then there was banter going on. It's what happens innit. What if they promise to keep it off blonde and just on msn?

this maybe isn't the thread Vinny...but the Rangers/Celtic stuff is/was a nightmare for mods. So many people just didn't know when to stop.
Anyway I've had some a chat with Boba recently, seems tikay has too. Wheels might be in motion it seems

agree about Portillo - he's my favourite Tory (after tighty of course) - I love the chemistry between him and Diane Abbott on This Week. I had to hold myself back from gushing a little when I bumped into him outside my office a couple of years ago.

and I even like Diane Abbott with Andrew Neil and Portillo. Andrew Neil (who I cared for not a jot when a newspaper editor) was the best interviewer by a country mile in the last six weeks

True, true & true. Tho sometimes it was 'overmodded' imo. But then that's easy for me to say as A, i'm from glasgow and maybe understand it better, and B, i'm not a mod :-)
