"The River Thames has a history as old as London itself".
Um, I'd say that the "history" of the Thames is rather older than that of London.

GREAT find Phil, thank you!
I love that sort of stuff.
What is it? None of the things they guessed, is my bet.
I've not forgotten the reply to your question about the DIY Centre & all that followed. Trouble is, how to condense the reply, it's half my life story in a way. But I will, deffo. Been a bit of bad weather this week, which has sort of diverted me a tinsy bit.
Found an old photo of Wormy (Steve Meehan), Billy (Camera) & Compo this morning, will try & load it up later.

Vince - any idea why you are often known next door as MerePedant? Just asking, like.
Loved the last e-Mail this morning. Hope you've not been following my Tweets today. Hardcore stuff - ducks & all sorts.

I've been following the Tweets, obv.
However, I had my hands over my eyes so I
may
have missed something.
Ten minutes ago I received a menu from a local takeway boasting "leek proof containers".
Why no love for the Welsh???

Dylan is Welsh. Or some might say, Welch.
Been reading all these extraordinary grimming tales, & I saw mention of Dave Welch, who used to go by the nick of "the Ambassador". That must have been 10 years ago now, maybe more, but that WAS a grim, proper quality that one. Some guys - a Dutch gentleman esp - are still chasing him over that little jobbie. It was even mentioned on yesterday's Live Update. The modern grimmers are mere amateurs compared to that. It always comes out on top eventully. It gets leeked.
Wonder how long before the book appears - "Top Ten Poker Grimmers"?

The site
fivebooks.com
was mentioned by Stephen Fry today in one of his tweets.
Interviews with experts who recommend five books on their field. Thought you might find it of interest.

Coverage of John Toshack's likely departure as Manager of the Welsh National Football Team was nicely covered in the Times, with this photo being accompanied by the words "Weighty Issues".

Mr Toshack is positively lithe compared to James Fisher therse days - I've never seen a bloke get quite so so big, so quickly!
