Managed to turn a 15k starting stack into 1,800 by Level 2! Back to nitting for me. K-K looked so nice on the K-6-8 flop, but his 7-9 got the on the 5 turn. Least it was not Flushy, imagine the epic rub! Early bink or early bath awaits. Shame, such a nice event, too. Was pretty sure he had an under set. Me = proper fish.
At least you had more outs on the river

Squawky! Good to see you here. Am seriously tempted by your kind Golf Invite for Monday (where is "Bigbury"?) but I'm not touched a golf club in 2 or 3 years, & before I do again, I think I need you to give me some lessons. Even when I was good I was awful.....I don't actually think there's any solution to a total lack of hand-eye co-ordination.
I enjoy golf mostly for the scenery & wildlife, to be honest, & just walking round is a treat. The Diary is a bit cramped Monday, but I will take you up on your offer soon.
I used to play golf in ANY weather, too, sod the wind rain & frost, let's play, but I think I need the clime (is that a word?) to be more outclement. I made "outclement" up as the opposite to "inclement", just to irritate MerePedant. I think "clime" is OK though.
Post more.
PS - What fun last night! But I'm not sure 6-Tabling will ever hold much appeal to me, I was utterly drained by the time it all ended. The results were nice, but the journey was fraught, & that's not why I play poker.

You are welcome to lessons any time you like, Bigbury is on the Devon coast and the course overlooks Burgh Island and tbf your golf cant be as bad as a certain car forgetting, taxi driving persons poker
Well done on your efforts last night, I think merespreadsheetatmnovice needs a new scoring system tho

I played at Luton on Thursday, I think I played five hands in 6 hours pre the Final, & ended up 4 way chopping it.
I played a 212 runner Tourney last night, 2,000 starting chips, freezeout, & sat out for the first 1 hour & 10 minutes as I was 4 & 5-Tabling & could not manage another Table. I won the thing. (Aided by serial-binkage & cooler hands).
Today, I drove all the way down to Brighton for, I think, my first £500 Tourney of the year. I play smaller levels these days, make a nice return, & am chilled & relaxed with my poker & my game, which does it's job perfectly.
And failed to last much into Level 3. WTF?
I had Kings twice, Jacks twice, 9's once (my oppo had same hand!) & a few other odds & ends. All inside 2 Levels!
The Kings hand did me, & I don't think I did much wrong.
I had some sport with Flushy, who was sat to my immediate left, & being characteristically mischievious.
I found 2-2, & he popped it up, I called, & we went heads-up to the Flop. The eventual Board was something like A-T-9-5-3, I check-called flop & turn, & three-quarter potted the River. Doubt I have EVER done that in my life, but playing against flushy & Co, Chompy ditto, changes the dynamic. He eventually folded his no-pair (so I was always winning, damn), & I chirped for England, with Martin Green & Co adding to the rub. Lovely.
After the break, and the accident, I had about 1,900 at 75-150. Flushy made it 400 UTG, 4 callers, plus me, I'm gonna jam most flops here with my K-9.
It came T-9-2 - not bad - so I find the jam with my 2nd pair.
Flushy, curiously, goes into a long dwell now, so he's clearly losing, he has a bad 9, or a medium pair, obv.
Eventually he calls, everyone else departs, & I show my hand.
His face was a picture of gloom, "Oh, you got it, I was sure I was good".
Then he tuns over a 2. Bottom pair, lol!, cue more ribaldry. Then he turns over another 2......
I've not stopped smiling since (despite a 15 minute argument as I left the Casino with Mr Campbell Dickson over a long-in-the-past business matter), & I'm still amused by the irony of it all now. I think if some folks did that I'd be a touch miffed, but even though I find Flushy un-necessarily abrasive on the Forum sometimes, I much enjoy his company in a Cardroom. How weird is that?
I discussed some blonde business issues with Dr Demps, had a buffet, played the Tourney, had the barney with Csino Manager Mr D, & was still back in London by 9pm.
Next time, I'll arrive 2 hours late, or sit-out for a few Levels.
Even now, I can barely believe I exited a 15k x 1 hour Tourney in just over 2 Levels. I'd have bet thousands against that.

Whatever way he tried it, the result was the same, & the rest of the field were out of sight behind me.
It was the most extraordinary run of binkage I've ever seen. The "best 3 from 6" resulted in a 1st, 4th & 5th with an aggregate of about 380 runners. I could play poker for another hundred years & never do that again. And Heads-up the hand played itself - I had J-J, & so he HAD to have 10-10. And he did, poor sod. He wrote me a quite lovely note afterwards, too. I really enjoy community poker.

Yup, though if I recoup 10% of them I'll be quite happy. Little & often suits just fine.
I'll be starting shortly, all being well. Hopefully, my personal ATM will be at the Table.

Yes, & we had the mother & father of shouty-wouty slanging matches. It was a long-past business matter for which peace has yet to be made. Progress, of sorts, was made tonight, though I slightly embarrassed myself by losing my rag with him in the Casino & making a bit of a scene. Someone was - for Commercial reasons - trying to broker peace, Round 1 ended in a stand-off, then a cooling-off period with the mediator running between the two of us, then we had Round Two, then Round Three. In the end I had to leave, as I as getting well angry, & everything was going wrong - I don't like aggro, arguments, or shouty-wouty stuff, & really I should have remained calmer. Anyway, e-Mails - peaceful, with a commercial angle - will resume on Monday. He has something to offer which is quite interesting, so I need to be sensible & move on from what happened befiore.
He does have a special talent for saying things in a certain way, shall we say. Still, tonight's buffet was splendid, & free. Free for everyone.
So that's good, though it had no connection with tonight's verbal joust. It's a terrific Cardroom, it really is, & the proposal that was put to me this evening was exceptonally interesting. It's that "shall I stand my ground, or shall I be sensible?" dilemma......
PS - Why did you send me a Text in Serbian Cyrilllic this evening? I'm still trying to translate it. Does it say "The moles are lovely"?

I wanted to have a few hours on the diary tonight, but it's 1am, where does the time go?
Anyway, I'm pleased that the DTD thing is out now, it's been something that needed to be announced at a certain time, & it's done now.
I'd really like to play the DTD Monte Carlo next week, but I think I'm working the Saturday, & I'm kind of pleased about that. £X in beats £y out any day. I've probably had my best year in poker, but just small-ball stuff, & when I set fire to £500, as I did this evening, that's like a week's bits & pieces of profit down the plughole, & it gets a bit under my skin.
I have purchased some action in 2 or 3 players in the Monte Carlo, about £600 worth in total, & I'll get just as much fun following them.

I suppose I could, but I'm OCD about never swapping shifts, & I like to be "low-maintenance" at work & not cause anyone any headaches. It's a lifelong obsession, I can't help it, when I accept a committment to do something, that's that, I never change it. Anyway, I'd probably bust out in Level 2 & then sulk for 2 days!
I might try & pop in on the Friday or the Sunday if they have a decent sidey on, I enjoy playing there very much, & Flushy said the same thing to me today, "go on, you know you want to". And I do, but we can't have our cake & eat it, & I'm fortunate to have a job I love very much, & which pays rather well, so missing a poker game is not a big deal really. Hopefully, I'll see you there.
Failing that, see you in Newcastle, January 8th - you'll DEFFO enjoy that day, I promise!
