I did not actually buy that "nuts" story (origin of), but I suppose it's possible. When I hear that sort of stuff, I don't take it at face value, I ask myself the question, "does that really add up?". And it did not add up for me.

The "epic" thing I mostly got through, right down to a standard race. I just could not resist it, but I'm sure it whooshed most. epic

Someone had written in & described a hand as "sick", which always makes me chuckle. So we went off on a "poker players expressions" tangent, & I was giving it all the "sick spot", "spewy", "puke river" stuff.

The "shouty" thing is a bit odd, the very antithesis of how I would react "normally". But I was encouraged to do it on Live Telly 3 or 4 years back, & now I can't get out of the habit. A fair bit of feedback about it too - "I love it when tikay gets all excited & shouty-wouty", but I suspect thats a back-handed compliment.

Thursday night is a very interesting Show to do, because the first 2 hours are on 865 only, whereas the last 2 hours are simulcast on Sky Sports. That means the OFCOM rules change mid-show, as the licensing for Sky Sports is very different, totally different. No more "calls to action" (tele-selling), no more "go to SkyPoker.com", whereas in Hours 1 & 2, we are actually obliged to call to action, & sell.

The audience demograph changes apruptly, too, a totally different (& much bigger) audience, with a far lower specialist poker knowledge. So a big change in message for the Sky Sports stuff. And whereas on 865 we can mess about, to a degree, it's a little bit more stiff & regulated on SS.

So, a big change in delivery, style & message at exactly 10pm, like flicking a switch. It's a very odd thing to get our head round it from that side of the camera, but which the viewer is not intended to notice.

Next Thursday it's the monthly Biggie, the Televised £220, & the cap has been increased to 60 players. Mondy is in already, me too. Spam, & you can barely see the seam.

Alan Johnson's resignation was an odd one.

The "Protection Officer" assigned to him by the Police ended up having an affair with Mr Johnson's missus. Bit rich that!

"Yes Boss, I looked after the wife a treat".

He was having an affair too, and Balls, who wanted his job, passed the details onto the press. Allegedly.

Sorry, I need to read the tabloids a bit more obviously.  Is there a course I can do to brush up on these skills?

I'll be the Daily Star.

Balls up, Johnson down.

Oh, how everyone will laugh.

The habit of headline punnage is rather peculiar, but I'm as guilty as anyone.

I was rather proud, after Jules won that Luton biggie back in 2004, of "Thews The Daddy". I'll think of another soon.

I wonder how long it will be until they come up against some serious antitrust action.

Excellent, & thorougly deserved. They do things their own way, & most of us benefit. If there is such a thing as a Company making the world a better place to live (& learn), that company is google.*

Soon enough, the better that companies perform, & the more successful they are, the more certain it is that the EEC idiots will try the antitrust nonsense.

What a weird world we live in. Successful companies get the antitrust treatment because they are successful. WTF?

Unsuccessful Football Managers get compensation for being sacked because they are shite at their job.

Go figure.

Yesterday, once again, Steve Jobs at Apple went on sick leave. Unlike last time, this time is was "indefinite". Everyone would wish him well, but especilly Apple shareholders, where the stock has quadrupled in 2 years.

Today, they announced stunning numbers for the 3 months to December 31st - profits of $6bn from a turnover of $27bn.

The shares fell a little today, 2.2% after being 7% off at one stage, a not unusual City reaction to good numbers. The results were already in the price, so the saying goes.

What would happen though, to Apple, & the stock price, if Steve never came back?

It'll all go pear shaped.

loving your work Mr B.
