With your image Tony i'd rather peel and have them give up alot because their scared of your call.
Also I was tilted, I woke up at 2:15, drove to DTD arrive 4:45 play at 5:00 out by 6:45.
Couldn't drive straight home because too much traffic, so just tilt sat in the bar for 6 hours chatting!
Also ANYTHING HBO is amazing, when a show starts with the grey screen and sound I get all excited.
Need to see me Boardwalk Empire, that promo party looks so cool!
Rome, The Sopranos, The Wire, Oz, Deadwood, Entourage, The Pacific, Generation Kill, Band of Brothers
Understood. There were 2 players behind me still to act, though, & I just lost my bearing as to where I was in the hand, so gave it up.
I still can't grasp peeling there, out of a 9k stack. Really, I'm not much of a caller, more a raiser or a folder. Mostly the latter......
In a cash game, obv, I don't fold there, ever.

do you mean to say that you didnt watch the set time lapse then.
Or that you watched it and that you just dont want to watch the series incase you enjoy it.
Not watched it yet that is planned for tonight. I'm desperately trying not to want to watch it!
To be honest, I've had a bit of trouble" the last few days, so time has been a bit scarce.
I'm nearly convinced I'll have to watch Boardwalk Empire, though, I'm more & more taken by the bits I've seen.
It's finding time to do everything that I struggle with.
Ralphy Boy loaned me a book at Xmas, called "Members Only", about Paul Raymond, he of the Revuebar. I started reading it a few nights ago, & it's unputdownable. That's the beauty of books, sometimes they can really surprise the reader, & that one is something quite special.
Some days, I can't face Forums, when it's all kicking off, & the trolls are in full flow. I find that reading a good book is very calming & fulfilling, much more so than telly.
Watched the first 2 espisodes yesterday - compulsive viewing imo - the cinematography is wonderful/story good/ it all just draws you in.....
I'm not listening, la la la, la la la.

Not folding is fine, (cant win by folding) but you then need to work out whatever is best from the other options. If you raise the flop you are turning your hand into a bluff and hopefully get a fold/hit your 5 outs if you get it in.

I had the same thing on my face when I was about 11. It's caused by shaving though I can't remember why. I went to my GP and they sprayed something on it. Was gone by the next day and not had another one since.
Re the Q9, Jim is right imo. flat.
I hope you are right about the chin thing, it grows by the day, & I have to sort it. I'm gonna try the "Scholl" stuff, & hope it falls off. You sure were shaving at 11.......
The Q-9 hand - I don't understand why flatting the flop there is good, to be honest. I was only playing about 9k. It seems a clear Raise or Fold, to me, probably the former. Obv, I should have done that pre, but that's another story.
are you are raising for value or turning TP into a bluff?
IF I raised (I did not), then "neither".
It'd be because I think my hand is good, so I need to protect it, I don't want to see any more cards, & I want to take it down now. Remember, when I was on the decision, the hand was 4 way, with 2 still to act.
I'm not gonna be liking about 40% of the possible turn cards here.

We could debate that logic for a very long time........

I found the first two Boardswalk Empire's dull as ditchwater, just to give a contrary view
Sky Atlantic in general though is wonderful. British telly needs an HBO so much, fantastic series on it all the time

HBO has 27 million subscribers paying $10 a month = over £2 billion a year to spend on making programmes, none of which it spunks away on Premiership football.
By contrast Sky has revenues of over £4 billion a year (more than the BBC) and yet doesn't make anything close to the HBO stuff.
Boardwalk Empire cost about $65m to make the first series - the pilot alone cost $18m. Sky really should be spending £50m on a drama series as a statement of intent.

Ok it happened a few years ago BUT I was shaving regular in year 8 at school which made me 12. Maybe why I'm 23 and look 45.
Flatting is good because by raising we fold out worse and only keep in better. If we raise and one of the checkers flicks it in we can't pass and are almost dead a lot of the time. Folding is incredibly weak when we flop a moderate hand like this and we can't justify a call pre if we are going to fold here.

Wrote the below for work today, thought I'd post it here seeing as it's relevant.
Piracy Wave on The Atlantic
Following the launch of Sky’s new Atlantic offering, television experts are anticipating an increase in illegal viewing of its key products which include Boardwalk Empire and Blue Blood.
The glossy new satellite channel is airing some of America’s top drama series and broadcast analysts predict that new illicit ways of accessing this in-demand content, whilst foregoing the need to pay at least £20 a month to subscribe to Sky, will multiply quickly.
It is thought that large numbers of the younger audience, who are less willing than most non Sky subscription viewers to wait for DVD releases, will look to unofficial websites to watch live and catch up streams of their favourite content. In turn, this is likely to create an increased demand for TV on the internet, bringing new and cheaper ways to watch content into the mainstream.
Most consumers will still watch these shows on TV due to its higher quality, and TV viewing overall is actually increasing. However the consumption of content illegally is still harming the industry and needs to be controlled to ensure shows like these can be made in the future.
