I wish I could find a better photo of this. Anyone?
They all seem to big to Post.
In case you are wondering, all those little specks are redundant B-52 Bombers, & American Air Force military jets, stored in the desert, in the USA.

A quite amazing story has developed at Newbury Rececourse today, where several racehorses were accidentally killed by electrocution, after a fautly cable "earthed".
Two of them, I gather, just keeled over in the paddock, & died there & then, & several experienced burns in the mouth, where the "bit" is.
What an incredible thing.
Allegedly, only one sixth of the electric current required to kill a human is required to kill a horse.
The story starts near the foot of this page, on Chompy's diary.....

Feel a bit better today, though still not quite right.
Set myself a target.....
Clear 20 PM's next door
Clear 20 PM's here.
Get some "sticky" e-Mails to HO sorted. Easy, but lengthy, been putting them off all week.
Write to x re sponsorship deal.
Send Atlantic Launch Party photos to HO.
Write to SP, JC, & RM.
If I can achieve that, I'll spend all tomorrow resting up, & then I can start the week on Monday with a clear mind.
And then you spend some considerable time (I'd guess, given the verbosity) writing a reply to me arguing about the wisdom of debt. Not that I don't love the debate, but

It was, I confess, the path of least resistance. Wade through all those PM's, or reply to your interesting Post.
As it happens, I've made good progress today. I changed it round a bit, but I cleared 40 PM's next door, so that's a good start.
Afternoon nap beckons now......! I'm such a woos these days.
PS - Lend us a few hundred, so I can spunk it away playing poker?

I was at Newbury today, producing their "Newbury TV". I had just asked the paddock cameraman to give me a close up of The Merry Giant when the horse started "playing up". Nothing too unusual about that, just a sign of a highly strung or nervous horse, I thought. Just as he calmed down, Fenix Too came into shot, jumping all over the place & we were focusing on him, with the live pictures going out across the racecourse, including the giant screens. It then became obvious that Fenix Too was "wrong behind" and his hind legs had gone. As I was telling our cameraman to "go wide" on the shot & getting the director to go to another camera out on the course, we noticed another horse (Marching Song) had collapsed and died. We were totally shocked in the OB Van by what we were witnessing.
There were hundreds of people around the paddock for the first race & it must have been most distressing for them to see all of that happen close up, not to mention how the owners must have felt.
There's a lot of speculation about what happened but some sort of electrocution is top of the list of theories. It seems that the horses were more affected when they were on the grass rather than the rubber walk way around the paddock. There will be a lot of enquiries to find out exactly what happened.
Racing UK's Nick Luck (who handled the event with spectacular professionalism) had an email sent to him from a colleague that reported on an incident at a horse arena sometime ago. Apparently there was a slightly broken cable 2 feet under the arena floor, which was wet, and that was enough electricity to kill the horses. It seems that an electric shock that just gives humans a tingling sensation is enough to electrocute a horse.
A very sad day for all of those involved and, sadly, a day when Horse Racing will make the top news on TV & in the papers for all of the wrong reasons (again)

Can't you just get Maria to copy the messages again from your old phone or has then been binned now?
You might lose some, but presumably not the old archive...

Tikay, are you talking about text messages you've lost?
Install the app 'SMS Backup' - it automatically backs up all your texts to your gmail account. You can then wipe them from your phone (or lose it, or whatever) and you still have them all.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/sms-backup/tv.studer.smssync
(might be a bit late, and a case of the 'horse has bolted', but at least if you have that from now on, you won't lose any texts in the future)

That, Sir, may be THE greatest Link ever put on this Diary - love it, thank you.
I'll comment further shortly, I have to be in the Studio in 10 minutes, & I'll also reply to the other questions on the Diary.
I've had an utterly horrid week or so, & have crawled into my shell & hidden, a bit, as things got a bit heavy last week & this. Nothing bad, just a lot of little things, & wherever I went, something or someone seemed to be lurking, or having a pop. There are so many places we communicate these days, & we are available or visible on every platform. This Forum, next door, texts, phones, MSN, FB, Twitter, sometimes there is nowhere to hide. The job, & the profile that goes with it, is awesome, (for so long as it lasts), but sometimes, it all gets a bit much. This week has been "sometimes".
But it's been good, too. Shifted a lot of stuff this week, made some great progress on various interesting & exciting things.
Tonight's Live Show (simulcast on SS4) features studio Guest Ian Frazer, which may not tick the box of everyone on here, but we have quite a list lined up for the next few weeks, including.....
Ian Frazer
James Keys
Paul Jackson
Julian Thew
James Williams.
3 or 4 other unforgettable names, too, but I've momentarily fortgotten who they are.
OK, gotta go. Thanks for tempting me out of temporary Diary dead-ness, Rex.
Tonight, after the Show ends at midnight, I gotta drive home to Derbyshire, then at home all day tomorrow on flood-relief stuff, ugh. I can barely face going home right now, what a bloody mess. Then back to London, & another Show on Saturday night, another week done.
Again, Rex, what an AWESOME link that is, thank you. Having read "Collider", one of the CERN books, & then 2 others, the whole subject of particle physics, & the smallness of things, intrigues endlessly. I don't understand a bloody word of it, but the graphics help me to get it in context.
Now, off to do a Show, & try not to tread on any more bloody toes. Not as easy as some may think.
I just did a 30 min pre-record with Ian Frazer, & it seemed to go well. It's almost as if he's done TV poker before. Orford is the Presenter tonight, too, so all good.

They should have tried harder on the soundtrack.
Radiohead would have been good.
Still pretty awesome, though.
