I remember watching the Columbia launch in 03 from about 7 miles away at 3000ft quite a sight.
I will never forget the return of the same shuttle as we were flying up the coast to watch its return when the news came through the radio

Bit of a rub by the pilot there "if you're on the right hand side of the aircraft you'll be able to see the space shuttle, if you're on the left hand side you'll be able to see the people on the right hand side looking at the space shuttle".

Tikay….thoughts on the rise to fame of Dan Lobb. I remember back a few years ago when he used to present The Club on Sky Poker with Matt Broughton.
He now covers the sports section for the breakfast show Daybreak on ITV. Does he still keep in touch with the SkyPoker team?

Shouldn't you be dotting 'i's and crossing 't's rather than eating popcorn?

Fantastic spot, thanks Andrew.
According to Davidson the photographer offered fifty pounds to take a photograph of him and Estelle with the intention of selling it to the newspapers. Davidson was broke and needed the money and rather stupidly agreed to the request. Whether the photograph was set-up or not (there is evidence to suggest that it was) it was now all over for the ‘Prostitute’s Padre’ and the court found him guilty of five counts of immoral conduct. He was charged £8,205 costs and his career in the Church was finished.
Wow, have times changed, or what?
And £8,205? Thart must have been a fortune back then.
Not sure if that's a Level, or not.

All well, I hope.

Hmm.
Well......err.....maybe I'll let Mr Duffy answer that.
No, Mr Lobb does not keep in touch with the Sky Poker Team, nor we with him.
He's a good-looking boy, very telegenic. I wore one of his shirts once.
In a way, I greatly admire peeps like him who play their cards well, so to speak, & do OK for themselves. I think over-achieving is a wonderful thing. I should know.
Bottom line is we - he & I - were not exactly a mutual admiration society, but I have no issues with him, no history or bad blood, & I genuinely hope his success continues.
There's some interesting stuff about Dan here....(pardon the snappy link)

This particularly fascinated.....
".....As a child he was ranked in the top seven of his age group at gymnastics.....",
And this even more so....
".......and he can still perform handstands!......"

This is a tad geeky, but I absolutely adored it, so will Tom, & a few others. A very few others.
It was about the role that coaches played in our lives, mainly in the fifties. Amazing footage.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00x7c3z/Time_Shift_Series_10_The_Golden_Age_of_Coach_Travel/
It was "Time Shift, Series 10" (where are the other 9?), & "Episode 6", (where are the other 5?)."
Loved it so much, I watched it again last night. Evocative stuff.
This, incredibly, was a 1950's "Library Coach Outing". Big day in St Neots, that.
