I ended up wearing a Stars logo for 45 minutes and adding nearly 50% to my prize money for doing it.

Not having a sponsor deep in this tournament is so valuable, I won't be playing a satty that forces you to wear a logo ever again.

Wear a big badge saying IS RIGGED under any logo you are forced to wear imo

'wanting' and 'forcing' is back to the original question that probs shouldn't be on tikay's diary any more. Unbelievable betfair did that keith, that's really shoddy. Not even sure they're right about the change of sponsor during a day? Wasn't there a story that Andy Black had a betfair shirt on the year he shoulda won it, he went and had a chat with a representative of another firm during a hand and next hand the betfair shirt was on the floor under the table

My mistake was giving the chance to behave like that.

As soon as stars made the offer, I should have taken it.

Terrific debate, great stuff.

I wasn't really trying to put the old boy in a tricky situation

Assuming that was Jeff referring to me.......not at all, I'm 100% fine with the question, & the debate.

Have just finished the Show, it's 1.15am, & loads on tomorrow (today), so I'll swerve it tonight & reply tomorrow.

Night all.

glad the debate is ok tony, didn't wanna put u in a tricky spot. Went to UB's sat tonight instead and won one there instead, nice life Smiley

Think I mentioned on here before, when I was with Laddies John Gale had won a seat to the main with them and he just basically refused to wear the shirt/badge even tho he was told he 'had' to by the terms. It was the year he won the bracelet earlier in the series so obv laddies were chuffed he'd be in their 'team' then he refused. Laddies discussed pulling him out of the event and seemed to think they were within their rights to stop him playing as far as I know, but in the end decided it would look bad on them. Then they had the Peter Eastgate thing too which seemed to reflect badly on everyone. The same year Paul Jackson was wearing more badges than a motor racing driver, I guess there's no reason u shouldn't wear more than one really, they do it in most other sports.

I read your stuff about the Facebook groups with interest as I've been added to one over the weekend, nothing like yours, just a poker one, but now I'm getting loads of spam, updates etc, I'm sure u never used to be able to force someone into a group, u had to invite them and they had to agree to join. Otherwise how come this has never happened before to either of us in like 4 or 5 years of Fb?

Saw some of your show with Channing, he's so good at that stuff, never offensive but still tells it how it is. U should spam that tourney before it's on coz I'd like to play it again, it was fun and makes the show more watchable knowing u might be about to get critiiqued by u boys in the studio. Hope you're back to full health

I got added to one so I checked.

Open groups used to have an option for members to 'invite' other people to the group.

Now that option has been changed to 'Add' other people to the group.

Once you're added you can click on 'Leave' group though; this not only removes you from the group but it also stops other people from being able to add you to it again. To re-join it you have to do it yourself.

Just out of interest...why is there such a logo arms race anyway?

Surely Stars and Tilt sticking logos from day 2 or 3 onwards onto all sort of players for thousands of dollars each cannot hope to earn them any sort of return?

Even if they stick their badges on 7 or 8 WSOP final tablers the watchers know that the players have just taken the wedge, its hardly a sign of massive player loyalty to their brand.

Is it merely just an alternative to paying for TV ad breaks?

Couple of things I think.

First of all, I think the week the main event final is broadcast is the biggest week that US poker rooms attract first time depositing players, so the aim is for PokerStars to be the only site these players have heard of.

The other is that I honestly think part of Stars whole model now is as much about stealing the thunder of other rooms, namely FTP. I reckon Stars would want to patch people up just so FTP dont.

Constant brand awareness... just keeping the logos in your face so you subconsciously relate internet poker with pokerstars..

Yes, it's the 'why does Coca-Cola still advertise' argument - by buying up players Stars and Tilt make the barrier for other rooms to buy up players higher, maintaining their dominant position by forcing other rooms to spend beyond their means if they were to try and compete.
