On a golfy note Tony, the Bob Hope Classic which has been on the US tour since the early sixties is no longer. The event is being played on roughly the same courses this week but it has been reduced from a 90 hole event to 72 to fall in line with the standard format. It has been renamed the Humana Challenge which is a real pity as it had such history and charity under the Hope name.

Sad.

The Bob Hope was that odd one, played on 4 or 5 courses initially, yeah?

I thoroughly enjoy being a Blonde member and I fully understand your feelings about how things run or turn out sometimes.
The funny thing is I have worked on many government I.T. projects over the last 10 years with the last 5 being sent to sites where there were awkward/disgruntled customers. I recently got approached by another company to join them on an MOD project. It was an offer I couldn't refuse, more money, better hours, no dealing direct with the awkward customer. Fantastic, how come I miss my old job?

Thats how life is! It was always so.

PS - if it's not indelicate to ask, what sort of MOD projects? And what do you do, exactly. Like, exactly roughly.....

I'm what they call a solutions architect. In a nutshell, the customer has a requirement and I come up with a number of options which fulfill those requirements. If they like the solution and are happy with the cost then I instruct other people to do the work.

yes, it was played as a pro am over 5 rounds and 4 courses up to last year, they added/took away a few courses every now and then. I think Bill Clinton is  the driving force behind the charity side of it now so it will still set out to achieve the things Hope wanted, it's just lost its charisma as an event for me now.

The other problem is because the celebs are playing and they don't want to embarrass them they are all very easy resort courses which the pros' devour. 30 under used to be around a winning score when it was a 5 round event but I suppose that added to the razzmatazz that Hope loved at his event.

David Duval shot 59 in the 5th round one year to win the event, I think the amazing thing in that round was the longest putt he had all day was something like 15 feet.

IT seems to have a lot of beautifully descriptive names.

I was in Property Maintence a way back, & we used a German Company who supplied automatic doors for supermarkets, the Company name was "Besam", they do the doors for most European Supermarkets, especially the Budget ones.

Their full title?
