I came up with THE perfect couple, & explained to the nice lady why.
It's me and Tom, isn't it?
Rumbled.
But please, "Tom & I".
"me and Tom" sounds so common, so cheap, so Argos-ish.
sigh @ grammar noobs. 'Tom and I' totally incorrect in this context. 'Tom and me' perhaps better than 'me and Tom'
OK, "Tom & me" I can live with -
none of us are perfect
- but "me & Tom", that's just obscenely common, crass, & vulgar.
Actually, it should be none of us IS perfect (none being an abbreviation of not one; one being singular).

For all he knows, I might actually like my women to be obscene, common, crass, & vulgar.

Marvellous, if it is not MerePedant on my case, it is James "I am a Film Geek" Hartigan.
Good to see you here James, & we need to be careful the rumours do not start, as we are spending the evening together, as well, in the Studio for FIVE hours, ouch.
Very disappointed that you failed to do the spam bit properly, & mention tonight's very special & legendary Guest, who is also a prominent & much-loved blonde.........
OK, some Film questions for you.
Q1 - Best Film you saw in 2011? (And why).
Q2 - Best film of all time? (Ditto).
Q3 - Did you know I had a substantial wager on the outcome of one of the Oscars? A succesful wager, I might add. See, I DO know the film business......
WARNING - Tighty is also a film buff, so expect some nonsense debate about films. If so, I'll Post some diversionary stuff, concrete, swans, trees, whatever.

Q1. Drive - an awesome, ultra-violent retro thriller with shades of Michael Mann, Walter Hill's The Driver and Jean-Pierre Melville's Le Samouraï. It has a beautiful superficiality, courtesy of its glossy 'scope photography, neon credits and Moroder-esque soundtrack. Plus, I have a man-crush on Ryan Gosling.
Q2. The Godfather & The Godfather Part II - to quote Empire magazine's review from 1990, "Frankly, the best six-and-a-half hours you can have with all your clothes on."
Q3. I didn't know. Please reveal all. I had a (small) bet on the The Help to win Best Picture at 20/1. I fully expected The Artist to win, but I thought those odds were silly - especially as The Help won Best Ensemble at the Screen Actors' Guild Awards (a common indicator of which movie will receive the Academy Award for Best Picture).
Finally, to keep you happy...

Quaslity ninja edit there James. I'm glad I am not the only one who struggles to use the "quote" facility on forums when using an I-pad, which is, in all other respects, a thing of wonder & beauty.
I skipped your "best Film" replies, bit arty-farty for me, but I did enjoy "The Godfather" muchly, cos it was cool, like, all dem gangstas.
I have only ever watched "gangster" & suchlike movies really - Godfather, Goodfellas, Once Upon a Time in America, Pulp Fiction, Snatch, Lock Stock, etc. Poncy films don't interest me at all. I was given "Reservoir Dogs" by, I think, Thewy, but had to switch it off when it got to the ear-severing bit, way too gruesome for my liking, & have never re-visited it.
My Oscars bet? Best Director ("The Artist"), forget his name, foreign sounding chap. I placed the bet 6 weeks ago when the markets first opened, & got 63/100 I think, & it ended up unbackable at 1/10 or similar. Made well over £20, proper balla stuff. I was given the tip by a well known
ruminant
. Yup, a ruminant gave me a tip. You can't make this stuff up.
And yes, SIMON TRUMPER IS ON CH 865, LIVE, this evening.

Personally preferred Once upon a time in American but they are both outstanding.

For some reason, I still remember the scene when the chap was stirring his tea for 30 or 45 seconds, brilliant "sound" & atmo.
The music still comes to mind, too. Do do do do do do do dooo.
And how good a name for a gangster is "Noodles"?!

I've have never seen either Godfather. When I tell people this they look at me with the same kind of shock I would expect had I told them I've never read a book. Is it, can it, really be that good? I'm kind of loath to watch it now as it can only disappoint me.
That's a fantastically Welsh attitude to things I realise.

Lol. Super super epic, ya.
By the bye, Mr Plenners, I THINK we are doing "Top of the Pots" on tonight's Show (we have Simon Trumper as Guest), & I gather Mr Derp features heavily.
And yes, you can watch it on the Live Stream out there in Spain or wherever it is you reside.
Enjoy.

Libraries & Archives are coming under increasing pressure to survive.
I think this short film from my friends at Source magazine will be of interest.
The London Zoo Library & Photography Archive is the first in a series. Featuring an extinct duck.

Yes the soundtrack throughout is stunning, it sets the whole scene for the film. Noodles dam I love that name, I called one of my characters in World of Warcraft after him and only a few people in the 6 years of playing the game 'got' who it was named after
Once upon a time in American has so many great bits, no wonder its such a long film.
