Also, what do you think of those elaborate adult train sets that you sometimes see if the attics of rail enthusiasts?.
Nutcases, the lot of them.
It's almost as bad as grown ups playing Computer Games, or "Football Manager" or other make believe childrens games.
Had so much to Diary today, but it all got away from me.
Tomorrow it is, reply to unanswered questions, & some interesting stuff.
Oh, & I shall be starting a diet in the morning. I'm 14 bloody stone, ffs.

Race you to 13 stone?
I will weigh myself properly in the morning, & report weight weekly.

Nor me, but I'm close, & you would give me that bit of incentive I need!
Anyway, I am gonna do it. My energy levels are suffering due to being overweight, & I'm eating Rennies like sweets. Time to draw a line. I have felt a little unwell recenty, just "poor condition" I think.
13 stone before the next SPT, which is about 5 or 6 weeks hence.

I've seen a few used as advertising booths. People stick their business cards or adverts on the inside facing out.
Quite a good idea really.

A village near me has bought their phone box from BT for £1 then turned it in a library. You just turn up and swap a book for one of your own that you've finished!

The Diet has commenced.
14st yesterday, so off we go.
I have been struggling with energy levels recently, & a bit under the weather, so I'm overdue my annual diet.
I'll update weekly.
For no other reason than I need a target weight & date to satisfy the psychological drive needed, I'm going for the date of the next SPT (Cardiff) on April 28th, & targeting 13st, a loss of exactly 1 stone.
Usual nonsense mind games are engaged. I keep a Snickers bar with me at all times when dieting, & some high calorie bisccuits at home, as a sort of tease, so I can show myself I can resist temptation. It's all about the mind games.
Nothing is more satisfying than overcoming temptation to eat "bad" stuff. I really adore dieting, the feel-good is immense. (note I am talking myself into this).
This week, I'll go buy a pair of jeans that are a size too small. On April 28th I will wear them for the first time.

SIGH
Morning Dai.
How is THE Diet going, then?
Wish you luck with it mate, you & I will be the Slim Twins @ SPT Cardiff, eh?
If you were not aware, there is a blonde "Diet Club" Thread, here, it might help you.....
http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=56169.0
Personally, I cannot open it, I have strong opinions - very strong - on how best to diet, so it just irks me if I read it.
Eat less.
Eat better.
Get your head in the right place.
That's it. Diet supplements, magic potions, dieting books, bleurgh.
Each to their own.
If you have ever spent time in West Africa, or other really poor parts of the earth, you soon realise what dreadfully indulgent people we are, & that there is just no need to eat too much, or badly.
And in case you think I am sermonising, I am not. It's all part of getting my head in the right place for my diet. Once it's over, it will be back to Sticky Bun City.
Good luck mate.

Loved those phone box photos Dai.;
The "classic" GPO phone box is the venerable K6, which started service about the time karabiner was born, mid thirties.
Lovely wiki page for GPO red phone boxes here.....

The Hollinwell Halt use to be a little stop off station for the members of our golf club at the back of the first green. Trains Still use the same line now to go from worksop to nottingham on the robin hood line. The original signage for the hollinwell halt sits proudly now on the ninth tee and lends its name to the halfway house. More a halt for a bacon buttty and a coffee half way round than a train station
Nice Post, Greg.
Pity you reminded me of Hollinwell GC though. Such bad memories for me, that place was WAY too tough for me.
I note you discussing bird photos on a lesser diary yesterday. You do know that I am the resident bird photo expert round here, right?
