I have quite a few comments & questions from earlier pages still to answer, from cdw, 77Dave, Machka, & others, & will do so shortly, I have not forgotten them, I am having a quiet & restful weekend off, & will reply soonest.

For now, the diet continues apace, with the weight dropping off. The fresh fish counter @ Sainsburys is doing a roaring trade off me, this time it is Sea Bass. Bass that lived in the sea, is my guess.

I've discovered mushrooms, too, they are excellent "fill", with almost nil cals.

Life is good, & yes, I know you are all jealous of my culinary expertise.

I did make one play on Wednesday which has troubled me ever since. "Troubled" being "curious" really, more than bothered.

It was 5 card O, & I covered everybody, the total pot would have been just north of £2,000.

I held 7-8-9-J-K, on a flop of 6-10-2 rainbow.  So "K high", but a monster draw.

I bet the flop, it went raise, call. This was the spot & point at which I really needed to get brave, but I thought I'd peel & see what went off on the turn. (Mistake?)

I was pretty sure one of them had a set.

The turn was a sort of semi-blank - the   , which never changed anything, EXCEPT, I had no diamonds, & now I was facing TWO players, one of whom could easily hold two "incidental" dangler diamonds.

I bottled the bet, because of the diamonds mainly, I think, & it then went "pot", "pot".

Almost all of my stack to call now, & I know the original potter was not passing, so a £2k pot was on its way.

I almost never dwell or tank, but I gave it a good 2 minutes. My mind seemed to be thinking more about dumping off all the profit I had sewn up, rather than the additional money I could win. Anyway, I folded, using the excuse that I did not like the diamonds.

Irrespective of the river card, (which I'll spare you, as it is not relevant) I'm pretty sure it was a bad fold.

Tony that's not a "monster draw" it's the fool's gold known as the "inside wrap" with a mere 9 outs, three of which are probably not clean.

[edit] Oops I miscounted your outs, it should be 12 with three not clean.

I "saw" this photo, just a shame I could not quite take it as well as I saw it!

That's a fabulous photo Tony. You really did 'See' it, and I'm afraid that's art, like it or not.

This is you picture with a tiny bit of post-processing. (Press one button stuff) It isn't cheating, it's an attempt to help the camera to reproduce accurately what you saw.

I feel like I'm trying to make several points here, and failing.

Thanks Ralph.

"Fools gold", love it. Been there, bought it, own loads of the worthless stuff......

Anyways, I folded, probably for all the wrong reasons.

With 7-8-9-x-x, on a 5-6-A flop, for example, I'd have happily plunged.

You said ur objective in poker is to lock up a few hundred profit and have that feel good vibe going on for a few days. So when faced with these big gamble situations with that feel good already locked up you will obv err on the side of caution. But to withdraw from big gambles to lock up feel good only to be troubled by the result of the big gamble is meh. Where did the feel good vibe that you didn't gamble go to? If poker is emotional and endearing you can't play +EV all the time end of. They pull this shit on Deal or no Deal all the while. Contestants who deal early start crying at the end when £250k is revealed in their box. But wait, a minute ago you were real happy to deal for £10k cos all you wanted was a new kitchen. All this troubled thought comes from hindsight thinking imo. Be happy with your style if your style achieves your objectives more often than not. And stop putting pineapple on everything.

Yo Gramps, quick question regarding Virgin Atlantic, when I went to check in at Hong Kong Central for my flight back to the UK we were told that Virgin had over sold seats in the Premium Economy block and were quite persistent in their request of asking us to down grade to economy with the promise of the difference in money being refunded and some flying miles thrown in.

I declined their offer and was very patient with them and after 20 minutes they agreed I could stay in Premium economy but wtf, If I wanted economy seats I would have requested for them in the first place, why do these companies over sell their seat allocation? is this the norm? As a newbie to flying I have no idea how they work but it is very frustrating when you are at check in and they make you feel guilty for not down grading and helping them out in their "hour of need".

I did say that I was more than happy to upgrade to Upper Class if it would help them out but that wasn't met with a favourable response Smiley

Thats really helpful Marky, thank you very much, ditto the overall spreadsheet.

I'll have a good look over the weekend, make my decision as to dates, & then ask Sky to book my flights on Tuesday accordingly.

I quite like the idea of playing several different venues, & trying to play as many non NLH events as possible. Alternatively, I'll just play Omaha & 8 or better cash games.

At the risk of being a real pain, what sort of field sizes do Binions & GN get for those small Omaha affairs?

Quite surprising that Caesars leave it so late to announce their schedule, it seems to me. But I expect there is a good reason, there usually is when something looks so odd.

No worries it didn't take long, the guys at 2p2 are to thank for the spreadsheet anyway as my limitations on Excel are hugely limited Smiley

I just fancied a change and hopefully not too many players with headphones bigger than their heads removing them at every street to ask 'what happened there?' or 'how much is it?'

I'll prob play the PLO/PLO8 if I can and the couple $1k tourneys that are down there. When I move to Bellagio for the last 5 days I can always hop over to Caesars and have a look in there if I want to play anything else.

I've just had a look at Hendon Mob to get the results from some tournaments.

23rd June GN $225 PLO8 paid $4k up top

http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/event.php?a=r&n=53214

23rd June Caesars $340 PLO8 was $14k up top

http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/event.php?a=r&n=56885

25th June Caesars $230 PLO paid $8k up top

http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/event.php?a=r&n=56887

28th June Binions $200 PLO8  was a 4 way chop of $18k

http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/event.php?a=r&n=54837

1st July $120 Caesars PLO8 paid just over $5k

http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/event.php?a=r&n=56893

The seniors event at Caesars drew a massive field with a huge top prize too!!

Good fold.  You have so many dirty outs on the turn, awful odds and King high in 5 card Omaha.  I wouldn't even tank here.  Flop play is interesting, if I'm playing a multiway flop in 5 card I just assume someone has hit it hard and I think I need a much bigger nut draw to be bet/getting it in.  Don't mind bet/call but I might even take a much more passive route and check/call the flop.

Hey Tony, we touched on this guy on your 'tips for Tikay' thread.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2056771/Billy-Sharp-scores-goal-hours-death-son-Luey-Jacob-Sharp.html

I would be interested in your views as he is in the unique position of being a Scunthorpe legend despite playing for the arch rivals Donny Rovers prior to his move to Southampton to join up with his previous manager Nigel Adkins. Adkins got his first job in management with Scunthorpe having previously been the physio.

This was awesome while it lasted and a fun ten minutes when all you could hear was a few thousand scunny fans chanting

Who needs Mourinho
We've got our Physio

Over 100 people buried alive?

That was the story all over the news wires yesterday, see.....

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-17643625

Today, it's hard to even find the story.

What a horrible thing, over 100 soldiers, serving their country, wiped out, just like that, or so it seems.

Fingers crossed it does not turn out as bad as it is being suggested.

Can you even begin to imagine what their families are going through right now?

Had a trip to Southsea today and the first thing I ever do on arriving is go and watch the hovercraft leave and arrive.

Fascinates me everytime.

Made me reminisce on when there used to be a hovercraft service out of Southampton near where I used to go fishing and I'd watch them come and go there too.

Checking online it looks like it closed down in either 1976 or 1980.  Which made me 5 or 9 at the time.

Then I start looking at hovercraft and it appears the modern day inventor of hovercraft Sir Christopher Cockerell was a Southampton resident at the time and his original idea was based on a vacuum cleaner and two tin cans, one coffee and the other from cat food!

A bonus starling too
