changing the subject for a minute
Never seen something as remarkable yesterday as the chat who wanted to go being very unhappy at winning the pot to knock you out
While you are laughing and joking and wishing luck to everyone
Poker's an odd game sometimes

Prtetty strange stuff at table tikay
Mo Sadiq arrives at the table and tells them "I have to go"
He offers to move in blind and muck, not sure this was taken up!
He then proceeds to move in over every raise, doubles up a shortstack
He really needs to go home, in a miserable mood too
So tikay makes it 20,000 from 100,000
Sadiq all in no look
tikay call with
Sadiq turns over
Knocks tikay out
Sadiq couldn't look more miserable if he was Bastian Schweinsteiger at 10.30pm last night
the loser of the hand, tikay, is laughing and joking, wishing good luck to his erstwhile opponents

The "beat" was just one of those things, standard stuff, did not even register on my emotions, it's just poker, but the "meta-game" around the whole thing was quite remarkable, by any standards.
I doubt I've ever exited a tourney in such odd circumstances. And I've exited a few in my time.
He had, I gather, been absent for the last 4 hours of Day One, having amassed a huge stack, then blinded away to 200,000 in his absence.
He failed to show at the start of day Two, too, then arrived 30 minutes late & immediately proclaimed "I dont want to be here".
Then it got truly surreal.
"I want to go, so I'm going to move all-in blind, & when I get called, I'll muck my hand, so I automatically lose".
Some bright spark then suggested that he would get a time-penalty if he did that. It sort of occurred to me that a time-penalty post-exit would be a somewhat blunt weapon.
So he came up with a new idea now, so that he could leave immediately.
"I'm going to move all-in blind every hand".
And he did. 5 hands running, won some, lost some, but he covered most of the Table, & still had 130,000. At this stage, I had 129,500.....
I get dealt
& I know the score exactly, & I'm delighted. OK, he'll turn up with two live cards, & probably be no worse than 40/60, but given my abilities, I'll never find a better spot to 2xup.
I make it 20,000, knowing the script.
"All-in" says my man.
Call.
Ideally, I'd prefer to dominate him. He shows
Perfect, except he four-flushed it. Never mind, we can't have our cake & eat it, "wp, good luck all" & off I toddled, quite happily, on my 3 hour return drive home.
It was only later that I was told that my man then abandoned his newly refreshed stack & went home. Probably untrue, but it sort of makes an original exit story.
Mental note made to include it in the book which I'll never write.
Incidentally, he mentioned that the reason he wished to leave was due to family illness, so some consideration for this is due. I still don't understand why, though, he turned up at all. I believe one can legally be blinded away without incurring a penalty, or be guilty of etiquette fail.
All very odd.

He knocked you out, left 10 minutes later, and he blinded away to a min cash.

Incredible!
Still, it gave me something to muse on as I trundled down the motorways to London.
I dread to think what some of those poor online conspiracy theorists would make of the whole thing if it hasppened online.

Well done Pete!
Course I remember you, how could I not? Such great memories, back in the day in Walsall & the like. Tom would remember you, too.
I thought your account on here was "The Undertaker" actually, maybe my memory is playing tricks.
You heard 'owt from Dave Colclough recently?
Anyway, hope you get the lot Pete, good luck you.
