Morning Irene.

Let me get this right. You want to buy 1% of my Vegas action?

Are you mad?

This is not next door, they all got my number here, they know I'm shite!

Seriously, I had not given thought to selling action, but I enjoyed having a little community interest with a bunch of friends last year, so if you want 1%, it's yours. I'll plan, & post, my schedule shortly, but I doubt it will exceed $10,000 in total. (Excludes cash action).

I also need to set my "rate". Umm, 1.0 I think, in case Mr Keys runs the rule over it. I don't have an Online rating, & my "Live" Database is a little dusty. Not sure that will pass the Keys Kriteria.

Do an auction please.

Lolz Keith, the kids would have my guts for garters.

Be rather fun to see how low the bids came in though.

Do I hear 0.8?

0.75? No? Tell you what, my final offer, 0.7.

And what would Mr Keys make of a Staking Thread from me, with a THM that dates back to the days when everyone was poo?

Think my "silent Auction" woulds be exactly what it says.

Did you happen to see the Barry Hearn Documentary on Sky last night? Hour long, fascinating, and spoke to a number fo the things you have mentioned about the Hearns on this diary

I never knew fish-o-mania and Prizefighter were his original ideas.

I saw the last twenty minutes of the Barry documentary and there were quite a few cuts to Eddie and Katie.  I half expected to see Matchroom Sports in the end credits.  Smiley

Joking aside, I'll be checking iPlayer to see if the full doc is up yet.  He is one seriously interesting character.  The first time I met him I was with the MD and Gaming Dir of Sky Betting & Gaming.  We all turned up sooooooted and booted, feeling sharp and powerful, ready to do deals.  Within 5 minutes Barry had referred to somebody within the broadcasting division at Sky as a 'C**t' ....and it quickly became clear to me that this meeting wasn't going to be following the traditional format!

I ended up discussing several different types of deals with Barry and Eddie over the years and we could never quite get there.  'Give' wouldn't have been a word often used in those talks.

Saw the Deptford documentary also Tighty.  Scary, scary stuff, but fascinating.

Oooh, meetings with Barry H & Des, so many stories........ and some very unexpected personal twists & turns.

Just as well I have a Show tonight, & can't respond. With any luck, the mood will have left me tomorrow. Wink

In case anyone thinks otherwise, Barry, Eddie & Katie have been extremely kind to me, never done me an ounce of wrong, & I like them all very much. Interesting folks though, & I "Hearn-watch" a great deal, he never ceases to amaze me with how he manages to revitalise & TV-ise various sports, & make a bunch of money along the way.

When I watch Premier League Darts, for example, I can't help but think how clever he has been.

Anyway, I better go, or I'll be here all night, it's so nice & cosy in here.

Happy days and I always found the Hearns to be excellent operators, with a huge family ethic and a certain type of character that just doesn't seem to exist in big companies these days.

I remember dancing with Eddie over a period of weeks, encouraging him to become one of the mentors on the Total Player series - you'll remember that well I'm sure Tony.  Both sides showed an interest and after a period of to'ing and fro'ing we eventually set a meeting to discuss the details.  Ahead of the meet I'd say to Eddie, it'll be good for your profile in poker and you'll play the Simon Cowell part brilliantly.  Eddie would counter with how busy he was running the business, but he was still keen to find out more.

On getting in a room together, I think Eddie and I opened with the same question:  "How much are you going to pay me?"  Wink

It was always a battle!

Morning Irene. You can't see a Staking Thread because I have not done one!

Hope all is well in Mirza Ville. Daughter back at Uni? Coming to the Blonde Bash this weekend? You should, you'd enjoy meeting a bunch of blondes.

Sadly I cant come to the Blonde Bash Pops... You went and put it two weeks before SPT bloody Blackpool didnt ya!!!

Anyways.. Daughter has invited some American youth-boy-thing over for the summer so I'm going to be pretty busy on parent watch..

Still, he seems nice enough... scrotey, but nice!

1% is a gogogogogogo #LetsDoThis

The Hearns are great to work alongside, very down to earth family like Tikay says.

Also loving what Eddie is doing with boxing atm, for a long time it seemed like nobody gave a toss about it, but its nice to have someone cheering so loud for British boxers.

I really should read this diary more. It's superb!

"superb"?

That's a little strong, I'd say mainly bland, though it does occasionally manage to raise itself sufficiently to become truly mediocre.

But thank you, Mr Tay.

Where are you these days? Geographically, I mean, not in the space cadet* sense.

* Yes, I just discovered the meaning of "space cadet". I may just be a space Sergeant.

I got back to the UK about a week after Cos. I didn't see him for the last two months of our trip as i went to parts of Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia and other places in Thailand which was wicked. My place in Watford is being rented out for 12 months atm and i get it back end of August. Don't know plans as yet. Maybe sell it or continue to rent. I have the traveling bug thou Tony ever since to spent 4 months in Oz and NZ in 2010 really, i love it and can't settle here atm. Living with my mommy and daddy right now grinding which is ok i guess, its cheap anyways. I' will be here for around 3 months then either sell my two bed flat and possibly buy a house to live in with a mate or continue to rent my gaff and go back to Thailand and travel some more. There's still plenty more of SEA i want to explore. I also really wanna do South America, Brazil, Costa Rica etc and one of those inter rail trips back packing around Europe. I wanna do some nutter road trip around America too!

Yup, though he was a bit too quick into the Ring after/during the Frock fight!

Just over-enthusiasm I guess, but he may have been a tad fortunate that evening.

That's just great to hear.

I don't have too many regrets, but if I had my time again, I'd do a few things different - travelling more, for one, though it was not so easy or affordable back in the day.

I have travelled a fair bit, but hardly "adventure" stuff, unless you count Scout Camp in East Grinstead.

My nut regret really was not going into the Army (or Navy), I think that would have fitted me like a glove, & my Dad would have been well proud. "Regret" is a bit strong actually, everything worked out pretty neat really, all things considered, but I do wish I had been in the Services, & travelled a little more.

Well done you, it sounds amazing. Be careful out there though, there are all sorts of horrible folks abroad, I know, I read it in the redtops.

I was going to mention that but think it showed just how much it meant to him and from tgat perspective it was great to see....he did look pretty funny when he looked over at the ref and saw he was giving him a count though!!!!!
